Since Cain and Abel, human differ- Sences have all too often served little purpose other than to issue forth strife. Has humanity ever had a generation that did not have to face war of some kind? Those days are soon to be over. A phenomenon is rising before us where sons no longer follow fathers into coal mines or corporate America. Daughters look at their mothers and question the extremes of taking refuge either in historical values or in herculean theater that urges them to play not only cook, chauffeur, caregiver, and lover, but also protector, leader, and businesswoman. Yes, these Children of the New Earth have been born with eyes that see too much. They do not like what they see. Does that mean the older generation blinds them, or at least puts blinders on them? Believe me, it has been tried. But something greater than war rumbles within their souls. The day will come when they will not be denied; they will not stop at compromise. The rumbling travels through families, school systems, institutions, and now through society itself. No longer can our older generation go whistling through the graveyard. An undeniable force bridges this new generation to the graves of our ancestors and to the hopes of a better future. This bridge over troubled waters is not made of iron and steel but of new awareness and miraculous wonders inherent in the human condition, which somehow were lost or forgotten across time. A great shift has swept across the Earth with only the few truly noticing. The blessings of the sons will begin the healing of the fathers. The corporate mentality that has kidnapped fatherhood from hearth and home is being replaced by a revolution that cannot be stopped because it cannot be understood in full. What follows is the story of two generations. Such a story has not been told because such a story was not tellable. As much as the xi Indigo Rising uncertainty of quantum physics has eclipsed Newtonian laws, so has the emerging consciousness of a new generation begun to eclipse the rigid thinking, the in-the-box restrictions, and the limited abilities of its forebears. No prophecy is any longer valid, and no preconceived notions can stem the tide of this collective sea change. This new generation has been labeled the “Indigos,” the “Crystals,” or the “Starseed Children,” among a growing list of names. But the truth be told, no label will work, for this generation rejects labels. The labeling suits only the older generation that is trying to figure out the younger. And none is served by this attempt to corral. Such differentiation only echoes Solomon’s words: it is folly. Listen to this true story as the mistakes of an older generation no longer haunt the newer. The sins of the fathers are no longer visited upon the sons. The Earth begins to look less and less like a treasure to be dug up or owned, and more and more like a garden to be cared for and harvested. This rising generation of young adepts inherently sees the big picture: the value of spirit over success, healing over warring, and cooperative creation over survival of the fittest. The Internet has secretly replaced “supply and demand,” “scarcity of resources,” and “planned obsolescence” with exponentially increasing access to information, unlimited thinking, and a service- dominated economy that needs only ideas on which to thrive. Amazingly, these youth also see a treasure in Elders, whom we have labeled “the elderly.” These young adepts seek out their wisdom as if it were gold, while our society warehouses the aged as castoffs of a forgotten time or as spent shells of a rifle. At the heart of what you are about to read lies a love story that threatens conventional beliefs but inspires unheard-of possibilities. For love is the least understood human trait of all. Possibly because it is also the essence of the godly. These Children of the New Earth hold in their hands the best of what it means to be human and the undeniable truth that even quantum physics has discovered: all of life is one. What lies in wait for a world that tries to hang onto separation, judgment of others, terrorism, and domination? More love. We are xii Introduction headed toward a transformation that is only sped up by resistance, that is only made more obvious by sabotage, that will end up bending the knee of a stubborn past out of sheer awe — not fear. For these Children of the New Earth are the harbingers of the Age of Miracles and the thousand years of peace. Watch, listen, hear, as what unfolds on these pages and within your lives grows from the faint chirping of crickets to the heavenly rejoicing of angels. A new world has come forth, and a new generation has emerged to shoulder it. But let us keep this simple.
