Rating |Target | Estimate Change USA | Consumer | Food Products February 14, 2018 EQUITY RESEARCH Food Products Brands Still Matter To Consumers - Do They To Investors? Key Takeaway Previously our sector thesis was that accelerating consolidation & cost cutting activity should drive earnings upside. We are adding a new element, related to brands that we believe will drive an inflection in sales growth and drive further earnings upside. The attached Brands Still Matter report, is the result of a collaborative project with Accenture & Barkley that we began 3 months ago, and forms the basis of this new “brand” element to our thesis. Key takeaways from our Brands Still Matter report are outlined below. AMERICAS Consumer preferences have not changed, and emerging brands are not tapping into newfound preferences. Taste and price remain top attributes for consumers. However, consumers have more leverage and are demanding that brands do more – i.e. meeting needs of a “holistic experience” that includes attributes such as health, trust and sustainability. Contrary to popular belief, leading brands have maintained their ground & it is important to be a leader. 60% of leading brands are growing sales and 53% are growing share. Mid-tier brands and the long “tail” is struggling. Loyalty to Leading Brands remains very high and relatively stable. Leading Brands are incredibly productive at retail. Consumer insights, brand activation and operating model agility are key to succeeding. Companies that build next-generation capabilities in consumer insights and category development, brand activation and operating model agility are likely to succeed. Cost-savings opportunity is significant and can fund next-gen capability investments.

The thesis is that a detailed examination of this influence will bring additional clarity to our understanding of Freud’s thoughts about time and timelessness and permit the provision of the currently lacking systematic account of this part of his theory. The author brings the three components of the Greek canon most important to Freud - myth, tragedy and philosophy – into dialogue with psychoanalysis to show the importance of their influence on Freud's ideas on temporality.

  • How Facebook Beat the Children's Online Privacy Protection
FINN EGA N-FOR MATTED (DO NOT DELETE) 1/9/2020 4:28 PM HOW FACEBOOK BEAT THE CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT: A LOOK INTO THE CONTINUED INEFFECTIVENESS OF COPPA AND HOW TO HOLD SOCIAL MEDIA SITES ACCOUNTABLE IN THE FUTURE Shannon Finnegan* I. INTRODUCTION Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Facebook, Inc.,1 recently made news when he implied he believed a law was not necessary to cover and protect teenagers on social networks. 2 Although Zuckerberg acquiesced that this topic “deserves a lot of discussion,” he was criticized for responding in a manner that many interpreted as too cavalier when acknowledging the sensitive nature of teens’ data.3 Currently, there is only one federal law on the books that addresses children’s privacy online: the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).4 COPPA does not pertain to teenage users or teenage data, but understanding how Facebook, Inc. has handled COPPA may shed light on Zuckerberg’s seemingly lackadaisical response to the regulation of teen data.5 * J.D. Candidate, 2020, Seton Hall University School of Law; B.A., 2014, Fairfield University. Foremost, thank you, Mom and Dad, for your unconditional love, and continued support and guidance. Sincerest thanks to my faculty advisor, Professor Najarian Peters, Esq., for your unwavering encouragement, belief in me, and sound counsel. • New Entry of Record Labels in the Music Industry
Start Me Up: New Entry of Record Labels in the Music Industry Master Thesis MSc Business Administration Management and Entrepreneurship in the Creative Industries Faculty of Economics and Business, Amsterdam Business School Myra Alice Wilhelmina Ruers - 11903929 Supervisor: Dr. M. Piazzai 21st of June 2018 Statement of Originality This document is written by Student Myra Ruers, who declares to take full responsibility for the contents of this document. I declare that the text and the work presented in this document is original and that no sources other than those mentioned in the text and its references have been used in creating it. The Faculty of Economics and Business is responsible solely for the supervision of completion of the work, not for the contents. 2 Abstract The music industry is extremely vibrant, diverse, and inherently uncertain. Record labels are the main intermediaries in this industry, facilitating the connection between the creative input from musicians and the demand from the consumers. Due to many technological advancements, the barriers to entry have decreased significantly, hence making it easier to enter this industry as a new record label. Additionally, strategic integration options allow existing firms to start new ventures by acquiring or initiating subsidiaries. This research focuses on the multiple modes through which new entry can be commenced. These entry modes all have their own characteristics and consequences for the configurations of the industry. The likelihood of entry, the subsequent performance of new record labels, and the effects on the diversity of the output are the main topics that are explored. In this study, databases storing longitudinal information on musical releases are used to compile a dataset with the necessary information on new record labels.
