Venue IOSCO General Secretariat Calle Oquendo 12 28006 Madrid Spain Tel.: +34 91 417 5549 Fax: +34 91 555 9368 Please note that an ID is required for admission into the IOSCO building. You will be issued with a visitor pass on arrival for use throughout the meeting. IOSCO GENERAL SECRETARIAT C/ Oquendo 12, 28006 Madrid, Spain Tel.: +34 91 417 5549 • Fax: +34 91 555 9368 www.iosco.org Page 3 of 6 The closest Metro stations are: “Avenida de América” (line 4, 6, 7 and 9) and “República Argentina” (line 6). Transport From/To the Airport Taxi: fixed price of 30€ from Madrid airport to the city center. This fixed price will be applied at night as well as during the day. No additional fees, such as travelling on Sundays and public holidays, nor baggage fee, are applied. In general there are always plenty of taxis waiting outside the airport. This journey is only around 13 kms but the traffic can be heavy depending on the hour. The fastest and cheapest way to get from the airport to the city center is the Metro. Line 8 (the pink one) has two stops at the airport: one at terminal T2 for terminals T1, T2, and T3 (which are connected), and another one at T4. Line 8 ends at metro stop “Nuevos Ministerios”. There it connects to lines 10 (the navy blue line) and 6 (the grey or Circular line). Line 8 also connects to line 4 (the brown line) at metro stop Mar de Cristal. It will take you about 25 minutes to make your way from the terminal T4 to metro stop “Nuevos Ministerios”. The single metro ticket + the airport extra charge cost around EUR 5,-. In addition to the taxi and metro service, there is a bus named Airport Express which completes the journey in approximately 40 minutes. Buses run once every 15 minutes during the day, and every 35 minutes at night. Tickets cost 5 euros each, and are purchased on the bus itself. Since this is an express service, there are only three stops on the route: O'Donnell at the junction with Doctor Esquerdo, Plaza de Cibeles and Atocha station (daytime timetable only, between 06:00 am and 11:30 pm). The bus stops at airport terminals T1, T2 and T4, where the end of the line is located. This special bus line is easy to identify thanks to its distinctive yellow color scheme. Each bus has room for 88 passengers and features modern luggage storage facilities. From and to Airport T4 there is an Express Train (Cercanías RENFE): take the C1 line from “Aeropuerto T4” station to “Nuevos Ministerios” station. The “Nuevo Ministerios” stop is 15 minutes away by foot from IOSCO’s offices, or you can take the Metro line 6 to the station “República Argentina” and walk for 6 minutes to get to IOSCO´s offices . The entire journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Price of a one way journey is approximately €2.60. In Madrid The hotels NH Príncipe de Vergara, Miguel Angel, Hesperia Madrid, NH Collection Abascal and Barcelo Emperatriz are within easy walking distance from the venue (see the area map below). Taxis, which are abundant, reliable and relatively cheap, are normally hailed in the streets. Another excellent and fast way to move through Madrid is the Metro.
