Previous research showed that Tampoi potentially version 2 can be developed as a drug. Among these fruits, some are popular and are widely cultivated throughout the country while others are less known and grown in small localized areas. The latter are the under-utilized fruit species. Apart from these cultivated fruits, there is also in the Malaysian natural forest a diversity of wild fruit tree species which produce edible fruits but are relatively unknown and unutilized. Many of the under-utilized and unutilized fruit species are known to show economic potential. Collection and evaluation of some of these fruit tree genetic resources have been carried out. These materials are assessed for their potential as new fruit trees, as sources of rootstocks for grafting and also as sources of germplasm for breeding to improve the present cultivated fruit species. Some of these potential fruit tree species within the gen­ era Artocarpus, Baccaurea, Canarium, Dimocarpus, Dialium, Durio, Garcinia, Litsea, Mangif era, Nephelium, Sa/acca, and Syzygium are highlighted. Introduction Malaysian fruit tree genetic resources comprise both cultivated and wild species. There are more than 100 cultivated fruit species of both major and minor fruit crops. Each category includes indigenous as well as introduced species. The major cultivated fruit crops are well known and are commonly grown throughout the country.

This research aimed to identify the biodiversity and adaptation capabilities. The execution was in July 2015 to December 2016. The data was collected using survey, exploration, field observation and an interview for the plantation’s owner. Fruit species in the habitat of Samboja shore studied were 54 species and what was found in the field was 39 species endemic fruit trees and 21 exotic fruit trees. Species of endemic fruit trees were Durio zibethinus, Mangifera odorata, Durio kutejensis, Lansium domesticum, Nephelium lappaceum, Mangifera kemanga, Artocarpus champaden, and eksotik namely Artocarpus integra, Artocarpus altilis. Adaptation capabilities on the new habitat for Mangifera indica exotic fruit tree, it was fond that the grafting was prone to stem drill pest.

To conserve plants biodiversity, many local governments in Indonesia propose to cooperate with LIPI to build botanical gardens. Sambas botanical garden with an area ± 300 ha in West Kalimantan is one of a botanical garden which is under construction. As new exploration site, many biodiversity in this area has not been entirely explored yet including its medicinal plants. Methods used in this study including field survey and interview techniques. The objective of this study is to explore a biodiversity of medicinal plants in that area. This study identified 30 medicinal plants, representing 20 families and 25 genera. It indicated that Sambas botanical garden has many highly potential values of medicinal plants. Therefore, a proper management including medicinal plant for this area is strongly required. The vast majority of subsistence and society's income are form forest plants product. ABSTRACT Baccaurea angulata Merr. Red angle tampoi or scientific name Baccaurea angulata Merr. (Phyllantaceae) is an endemic plant of Borneo island. The other potential is not only as an exotic fruit but also contains antocyanin and antioxidant compounds which are high. The results also reveal the potential of red angle tampoi as a source of natural ingredients for the treatment of cancer and also has antimicrobial activity. Their close relatives besides menteng (Baccaurea racemosa) and tampoi (B. macrocarpa) also have B. dulcis (kupa), B. motleyana (rambai). The types of plants are generally dioceous so sometimes there should be a tree with its own male flowers and also there is a tree that flowering female itself. Grown in lowland (less than 800 meters above sea level) also in riparian areas of river or close to swamp areas. Propagation is most easily by seeds, cuttings and graft. This research was conducted in Mencimai, a Benuaq Dayak’s village and Sekolaq Darat, a Tunjung Dayak’ village. A 1.0 ha plot of old munaan lou (lembo lamin) in Mencimai Village was used as representative study site for Benuaq ethnic traditional fruit garden and 1.0 ha plot of old munaan luuq (lembo lamin) in Sekolaq Darat Village as the study site representing Tunjung ethnic fruit gardens. Index of diversity was calculated by using Shannon-Wiener (H') formulae and evenness by using Pielou. Methodology: Baccaurea macrocarpa leaf was extracted by using maceration method with the use of methanol solvent. The extract was then fractionated by adoptingn-hexane and ethyl acetate by using liquid-liquid extraction. Antibacterial activity assay was performed by using inhibition zone assay particularly Disc Diffusion Susceptibility method from methanol extract and fraction extract of ethyl acetate and n-hexane. Phytochemical screening as the best activity was performed by using by adopting Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). Result: Antibacterial activity was identified in the ethyl acetate extract of Baccaurea macrocarpa leaf. In addition, secondary metabolites with the best activity such as alkaloid, anthraquinone, flavonoid, and tannin were identifiable in the fraction extract of ethyl acetate of Baccaurea macrocarpa.
