Quite dierent from 887 km in 1.50 hrs a flight. My best memory: Beijing to Guangzhou. 26 hours. Narrow bed. The smell 274 kg CO of Chinese food flowing through the compartment. Nevertheless, I slept like a rock whilst the train was rocking smoothly. That's exactly what I wish for Europe. We have the infrastructure. We just have to get the trains on the track. How could I get there? My calendar was already packed around the summit. The night 1,134 km in 12.43 hrs train was the solution! In the evening there was time for the local council and Paris, Berlin, 43 kg CO for my family. The next day, I got o the train feeling rested and was able to city centre city centre report on concrete approaches to climate change at the conference. Night trains - sustainable and practical! Follow my work on Instagram, Twitter and on anna.deparnay-grunenberg.eu Whether Brindisi, Lisbon or Innsbruck: If you want to lead a climate-friendly life, you don't have to give up holidays on the Adriatic, the Atlantic or in the Alps. Because dozens of European holiday resorts and capitals can not only be reached by low-cost Travelling airlines - but comfortably by night train. There is already a wide network on European rails. This is not only much better for the climate, but it also saves time. You can fall asleep in Cologne at night and wake up across Europe rested in the heart of Vienna the next morning - without a stressful airport transfer. Travelling through Europe by night train is not a vision from a thrilling detective novel, but reality. If you prefer lying instead of flying on your next holiday, we have compiled numerous night train routes for your next trip on this map. Meanwhile, we are fighting by night train in the European Parliament to make the network even denser and the connections more aordable. • Traffic Connectivity in Croatia in the Past: the Dubrovnik Region Case
Athens Journal of History - Volume 1, Issue 3 – Pages 195-204 Traffic Connectivity in Croatia in the Past: The Dubrovnik Region Case By Marija Benić Penava This paper analyses the development of traffic routes in the far south of Croatia during the 19th and 20th century. Poor traffic connectivity was the consequence of traffic policy which was subordinated to the interests of Vienna in the Austro- Hungarian Monarchy, and after World War I, to Belgrade. Since the Dubrovnik region was oriented towards the sea, and since traditionally it had strong entrepreneurship and sea traffic that enabled great economic prosperity of Dubrovnik in the past centuries. Ships flying the flag of Sveti Vlaho (Saint Blaise, the patron saint of the city) were present in the Mediterranean and the world’s oceans, yet the service industry which Dubrovnik provided was completed by tourism only in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The perception of Dubrovnik as a world tourist destination was established in the first half of the 20th century and that could only be maintained by quality traffic routes. Therefore it was extremely important for the prosperity of the far south of Croatia to have and retain the best connectivity by railway as well as sea, land and air traffic. Introduction The transition from the eighteenth to the nineteenth century was a period of great economic change in Europe. The discovery of the Watt’s steam engine (1764) enabled mechanical transport, which neither the working animals nor the natural power, on which transportation was dependent previously, could not contest. The steam engine passed the milestone in the field of transport connection.

Press release TRENITALIA, THE STEPS TAKEN TOWARDS INTEGRATED, SHARED AND SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY Rome, 12 June 2020 Train, bicycle or scooter – for mobility that is increasingly integrated, safe and sustainable. Trenitalia (FS Italiane Group), through its summer 2020 timetable that starts on Sunday 14 June, is strengthening the integration of the train with various forms of transport to ensure the development of sustainable tourism and urban mobility. This will enable people who take the train for longer trips to use bicycles, electric scooters and other ecological means of getting around for the first and last miles, to and from stations. There is no charge for tickets for carrying bicycles, foldable scooters (both electric and otherwise), hoverboards and monowheels on regional trains. The maximum size permitted has also been increased, to include the largest bikes on the market. The new Rock and Pop regional trains will also have more room set aside for two-wheeled vehicles and recharging electrically-powered two-wheelers. There is also room for bicycles on InterCity trains. With the new summer timetable, Trenitalia is also launching its partnership with Helbiz, a micro-mobility company that was the first in Italy to start sharing services and technology for scooters and electric bikes in Turin, Milan, Verona and Rome. Trenitalia passengers who register on the Helbiz app and insert the code TRENITALIA in the codice Promozionale section (“promotional code) of the Pagamento area (“payment”) will receive a welcome bonus of two free trips, each of twenty minutes in total, including the unlocking of the vehicle. Before long there will be other discounts available to Trenitalia clients.
