This year, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of this conference. It was organized under the auspices of CIT (VŠB-TUO Information Technology Center), EUNIS-CZ (Association of European University Information Systems Czech Republic) and ČSSI (Czech Society for System Integration - Moravian-Silesian Section Ostrava). In agreement with the name of the conference, participants come from academic staff, managers and ICI staff, IS designers at companies and institutions, ICT providers, and students. The conference was supported by IT Cluster (people for IT) too. We are sending you complete set of selected research papers. The topics of this year's conference are: Management of IT processes; Information security; Information Society and Education; IT Innovation. The organizers created a platform for the exchange of knowledge and skills in the field of ICT innovations and the use of new our knowledge in practice. Business in the 21st century is redefined by a data- driven revolution. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play an essential role in the global economic growth. The share of the Polish SME sector in GNP has been at 48% for years now. This sector has been also among the most dynamically developing and computerising areas in the Polish economy. ICT (Information and Communication Technology) systems create the foundation of modern economic organizations in the times of digital transformation. This applies in particular to advanced ICT infrastructure, which is the condition sine qua non for the effective knowledge management. The objective of this article is to discuss organizational and technological aspects within the modern knowledge management using ICT called SMAC (Social, Mobility, Analytics, Cloud), being at present the canon of ICT support in this respect. The analysis has illustrated with findings of research carried out by the author in 2014-17 in selected SMEs from Mazowieckie and Wielkopolskie provinces. JEL Classification: A23 1 Introduction The global economy evolves into a “knowledge-based economy”, where market success of enterprises more and more depends on efficient knowledge management that is on acquisition, generation, distribution and application of nowledge within organizations. The strategically important nature of knowledge results firstly from the fact that it is harder to imitate and substitute when compared with material resources, and secondly from the fact that it is more flexible, i.e. more useful for the creation or improvement of various elements of the enterprise’s offer. Knowledge is currently perceived as a strategic enterprise resource and as such it should be subject to constant identification, measurement, acquisition, development, utilization and protection. In other words, it should be appropriately managed. This is particularly important in the process of digital transformation, which has been transforming all sectors for several years now. This applies in particular to the issues of knowledge management in economic organizations, which can be analysed in the area of organizational structures, business processes, personnel, organizational structure as well as ICT that supports management. Similarly to other EU Member States, the largest share of GNP in Poland is generated by the sector of small and medium enterprises. The competitive potential of SMEs operating in Poland is high

As we introduce new technologies and build new environments our model is changing. Today's virtual workplaces are grounded in models of work that have been reformed from our experiences using current technology in physical workspace. However we are discovering opportunities and possibilities for work in collaborative, virtual environments that question physical models. Emerging patterns of distributed collaboration in persistent virtual environments are changing the way we work in time and space, recasting our notion of workplace. Virtual workplaces are interpreted and experienced through metaphors that describe a space of potential for work occurrences. Through the lens of metaphors, this research focuses on breakdowns between collaborative work and the environment in which work occurs.

    Fitting In Conferencing Seeks Place In a Unified Communications World 04/30/2007 Tara Seals AMIDST MOVEMENTS by Cisco Systems Inc. and Microsoft Corp. to integrate conferencing as simply one more application within a unified communications framework, Web and audio conferencing service providers are taking stock of the opportunities and threats within a newly converged landscape of collaboration — and are repositioning to compete. “You have two 800-pound gorillas in this market now,” explains Lou Guercia, CEO at conferencing provider WebDialogs, which offers resale and agent opportunities. “It will take a little while for conferencing service providers to figure out where to go from here. They need to think that they’re sleeping with the enemy if they partner with them, but can you afford not to partner?” There’s a lot at stake. Wainhouse Research shows global conferencing services growing at a 5 percent CAGR to exceed $4.5 billion in 2010. Double-digit growth of 11 percent is forecast for Web conferencing alone. And unified communications providers will be capturing most of that revenue. Academic literature exists that discusses digital convergence in various domains. Although UC has received considerable attention in the business press, we are not aware of any academic study within the domain of UC that explains the convergence of platforms and its links to the technology strategy of UC firms. This thesis presents an academic analysis of some platforms underlying UC and the emerging strategies of two software firms within the UC market. The theory of network effects originally developed by Rohlfs is central to the analysis in this thesis.
