Wildcat Den State Park 9-9-2017 PSMC Foray In attendance: sisters Ari and Annabelle, their mom Channing, David and Katelynne, Mike K, Marty, Dave and Sally, Damian, Michael, Patti, Roger, Glen, Dean Aleurodiscus oakesii – Oak Parchment or Smooth Patch Disease Armillaria sp. – Honey Mushrooms Bisporella citrina – Yellow Fairy Cups Boletus fraternus grp. – Bolete with red cap and yellow tubes, staining blue Coprinellus radians – Inky Cap that fruits amid orange fuzzy carpet called an “ozonium” Crepidotus sp. – Little brown-spored oyster-like mushrooms Daldinia concentrica – Cramp Balls or King Alfred’s Cake Flammulina velutipes – Velvet Foot Fuscocerrena portoricensis – Green Tooth [Glen collected this resupinate effused-reflexed polypore with greenish-yellow pore surface with ragged dissepiments as in Purple Tooth; tentative ID by Dean] Ganoderma applanatum – Artist’s Conk Hypomyces chrysospermus – Bolete Mold Irpex lacteus – Milk Tooth Laetiporus sulphureus – Chicken-of-the-Woods or Sulphur Shelf Lycoperdon perlatum – Gem-studded Puffball grows on ground Lycoperdon pyriforme – Pear-shaped Puffball grows on wood Meripilus sumstinei – Hen-of-the-Woods look-alike, edges stain black Mycena leaiana – Lady Lion Mycena luteopallens – Nut Mycena Mycena spp. Phaeocalicium polyporaeum – Fairy Pins parasite on Purple Tooth Phlebia incarnata – Coral Pink Merulius Phleogena faginea – Balls-on-Stick Jelly Fungus [Roger collected this specimen which looks like a large slime mold but is really a jelly fungus; it has septate basidia and clamp connections] Phellinus gilvus – Tiger Eye Polypore Pleurotus citrinopileatus – Golden Oyster Mushroom Pleurotus levis – Looks the same as Pleurotus dryinus Pluteus cervinus – Deer Mushroom Polyporus badius – Canvas Polypore or Bay-colored Polypore Polyporus elegans – Black Foot Polypore with striate cap The literature is mixed on whether Polyporus varius – Black Foot Polypore with smooth cap these 2 are the same or not. Polyporus squamosus – Pheasant Back or Dryad’s Saddle Psathyrella velutina – Weeping Widow; new name is Lacrymaria velutina Rhodotus palmatus – Net Cap Russula spp. – Brittle Caps Schizophyllum commune – Split Gill Scutellinia scutellata – Eyelash Cup Stereum complicatum – Orange Parchment Stereum ostrea – Common Parchment Trametes conchifer – Bird’s Nest Polypore Tyromyces chioneus – White Cheese Polypore Trichaptum biforme – Purple Tooth Xerula megalospora – Rooting Collybia; new name is Hymenopellis megalospora Xylaria hypoxylon – Deer Antlers or Dead Man’s Fingers [Dean verified Glen’s ID of this fungus; the spores were fusiform, less than 16um long, and with a germ slit nearly end to end] Xylobolus frustulatus – Cracked Mud Parchment .
