Statistics of Indian Nationals Going Abroad 41 There has been a remarkable growth in tourist arrivals in India and the CHAPTER-4 DOMESTIC TOURISM 45 corresponding foreign exchange earnings in the recent past. We expect the growth Domestic Tourism Statistics 47 momentum to continue in future. It is my pleasure to present “India Tourism Number of visitors to Monuments 50 Statistics 2005” which is the 48th in the series. It provides information on a number of subjects organized in twelve chapters. Chapter one gives the overview of Indian and CHAPTER-5 APPROVED HOTELS 57 World Tourism trends; chapters two, three and four present the statistics and Statistics of Approved Hotels 59 analysis of inbound, outbound and domestic tourism trends. The other chapters deal with statistics relating to the number of approved hotels, travel/trade agencies, CHAPTER-6 TRAVEL TRADE 79 training institutions, besides giving the highlights of some of the important Statistics of Travel Agents, Tour Operators and Tourist surveys/studies conducted by the Ministry. In addition, the publication contains Transport Operators 81 guidelines for hotels and travel trade particularly those meant for approval/classification of hotels/service apartments/bread and breakfast CHAPTER-7 TRAINING 83 establishments and registration of travel agents and tour operators including Hotel Management & Catering Institutes 85 adventure tour operators. I trust that this publication will be useful to tourism officials, travel and tourism CHAPTER-8 PLAN OUTLAYS 91 industry personnel, researchers and all others who are interested in tourism.
