PROBLEM: fair recognition of qualifications and competences due to different educational systems in different countries 1997 Lisbon convention on recognition of higher education qualifications established legal framework and obligations for states and higher education institutions for furthering fair academic recognition and transparency of qualifications Strasbourg, 16 -18 March, 1999: European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO/ CEPES suggested the introduction of a Diploma Supplement into higher education institutions But in Croatia already in 1993 Diploma Supplement was envisaged by the Law TEMPUS QD/2007 Diploma Supplement - international 2 transparency of qualifications/17 The purpose of Diploma Supplement: To improve the international transparency and fair academic and professional recognition of qualifications. It is designed to provide a description of the nature, level, context, contents and status of the studies pursued, preferably by giving information on the learning outcomes. TEMPUS QD/2007 Diploma Supplement - international 3 transparency of qualifications/17 It should • be free from any value judgement and equivalence statement • but provide objective information to allow the recipient to make his or her own judgement. TEMPUS QD/2007 Diploma Supplement - international 4 transparency of qualifications/17 1997-2000: Design of DS at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, 1998-2000: DS as a University of Zagreb pilot project , tested the Faculty of Science 2000: Croatian Rectors conference submitted the proposal to the Ministry 2004/2005: Bologna process implemented into Croatian higher education system: 2005/2006: Faculty of electrical enginering designed their DS 2006: The Ministry started to work on Diploma Supplement September 2007: The Ministry presented the idea of DS to Croatian universities TEMPUS QD/2007 Diploma Supplement - international 5 transparency of qualifications/17 UNIVERSITY PILOT PROJECT 2000: Croatian Rectors conference submitted results of the pilot project as the proposal to the Ministry The document consists of: Diploma Supplement Appendix to Diploma Supplement (Transcription of records included) TEMPUS QD/2007 Diploma Supplement - international 6 transparency of qualifications/17 The Degree of DIPLOMIRANI INŽENJER BIOLOGIJE (BIOLOGIAE INGENIARIUS DIPLOMATE PROBATUS) in Biology, program of molecular biology was conferred upon Mr Nomen Nescio for final examination and successful defence of the Thesis entitled B lymphocyte clonality as a tool for malignancy determination in lymphoproliferative disorders on the seventh day of December 1999, and for completion of the eight (8) semester course of study in Biology and individual research work in duration of one (1) additional semester, approved by the Senat of the University of Zagreb, and is duly issued this Diploma Supplement. The Faculty of Science of the University of Zagreb recognises and applies the ECTS since 1999/2000 academic year.
