OCT 2018 5 The man behind brand BPCL

rom conceptualizing Brand BPCL to transforming Fit painstakingly into one of the most loved brands, Mr. Ramesh Srinivasan, former Director (BPCL) had an undisputable stake in the life and legacy of Bharat Petroleum. The beloved Director (Marketing) of Bharat Petroleum breathed his last on 24 September 2018, a week before he could close his official tenure.

He joined the Corporation on 09 June 1980 and assumed charge as Director (Marketing) on the BPCL Board in 2016. Mr. Ramesh was head of all key businesses of BPCL - Retail, LPG, Lubricants, Brand, PR and New Initiatives before taking on as the Director Marketing. His long careerwith BPCL was enriched with the experience of handling extremely significant and challenging assignments in a highly policy driven organization committed to delivering corporate targets and achieving national objectives. His heart was always set on taming competition and he handled his portfolio with absolute finesse until he was struck down with prolonged illness towards the fag end of his career.

He had the innate skill to understand key business drivers with a clear understanding on how strategic initiatives could be aligned to these key areas. He created the first Brand Team that was responsible for the conceptualization and promotion of premium brands like Pure For Sure (PFS),SmartFleet, Petro Bonus, Petro Card and many more. They remain iconic initiatives to date and have given BPCL the pride of place for Mr. Ramesh Srinivasan thinking much beyond its time. The soft spoken but aggressive strategist always believed in innovation, caring and reliability, (1958-2018) the customer promises co-created by the team of visionaries that included him.

He was much respected by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

He remained an excellent advisor and guide for Kochi Refinery right from his first visit in the BPCL Committee post- merger.

24 September 2018 has been a sad day for BPCL as we had to bid goodbye to a fine gentleman, great colleague and beloved Director even before he could officially end his tenure in the Corporation. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife Kousalya and son Rasik on this irreparable loss.

Mr. Ramesh always believed that BPCL breathed like an organism, young in its innovativeness and smart in its solutions - to remain a strategic leader of the game. This belief helped him visualize and create Brand BPCL, at a time when there were no standards or benchmarks in the Industry. Yes, he was totally dedicated to transforming BPCL into one of the most loved brands and over three decades later he leaves us for good with a truly enviable legacy. We will indeed miss this unique leader, the man behind Brand BPCL. wwwww.bharatpetroleum.inw.bharatpetroleum.in @Kochi@KochiR R /BPCLKochi/BPCLKochiRefineryRefinery BPCLBPCL KR KR Online Online HIGHLIGHTS

Life saving AED

n Automated External ADefibrillator (AED) is a device used to revive patients suffering from life- threatening cardiac arrhythmias, which lead to sudden cardiac arrest.

AEDs, are not designed to provide shock where there is no heart beat. A patient without heart beat can be revived only if a heart rhythm is reestablished by CPR and/or cardiac stimulant drugs.

When turned on or opened, the AED will instruct the user to connect the electrodes (pads) to the patient. Once the pads are attached, everyone should avoid touching the patient so as to avoid false readings by the unit. The pads allow the AED to examine the electrical output from the heart and determine if the patient is in a shockable rhythm. If the device determines that a shock is of help, it will use the internal battery to charge its capacitor in preparation to deliver the shock.

When charged, the device instructs the user to ensure that no one is touching the patient and then to press a button to deliver the shock. Human intervention is usually required to deliver the shock to the patient in order to avoid the possibility of accidental injury to another person (which can result from a responder or bystander touching the patient at the time of the shock). Always remember, to provide CPR before Defibrillation and again after the procedure, if the patient is not reverted to normal.

An AED requires minimal training to use, as the instrument will prompt us regarding the procedures step by step. Two AEDs have been provided, one in maincontrol room and a second one in DHDS control room. A flow chart describing how to use the AEDis also attached for easy understanding of its Dr. Lissiamma N K, operation. Medical Services
