She has a proven track record for spotting and making trends long before they make news. She was born in London, lived in Montreal for many years and in New York City since 1978, all have had their influence. Since 1982, with many other consultancies and assignments, she has been US Correspondent for Peluquerias, a photo-driven hair fashion magazine published in Barcelona, Spain. Her background includes PR & Creative Director of La Coupe Salons New York and Canada (on and off from the late 60s, to the 90s) and Vidal Sassoon Salons (1979-1981) in the USA and Canada. She was “Ambassadress” to The John Sahag Workshop, which she launched in 1985, then returned to from 1994-1997, and she has worked behind the scenes for many more in the hair world. And freelanced for many magazines and newspapers. For more bio, check the website. During the Sahag years, she took up photography and has taken her own photos backstage during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Weeks for over a decade. The photos on film from the earlier years have yet to be scanned, but eventually they will be. “I am influenced by fashion, art, the movies, the street, by the 3 countries I have lived in, and by all around me, past and present. I like to do everything with a touch of class and quirk, and I believe that anything can be achieved, if one wants to do it enough but, if it’s not done well, then it is not worth doing. I am proud to say I have never compromised on this and always give over 100% to everything I do, whether working for nothing or a lot.

  • Top Ten Fashion Designers
Top Ten Fashion Designers In a society where we are bombarded with fashion, how on earth do we decide who the top ten designers are? Well, after quite a lot of pondering, I came up with some names that I thought were a well-rounded group of creative minds. These are the best from all over the board. So here goes. 1. VALENTINO GARAVANI. From Italy, this man knows how to make a woman look like a goddess. Having dressed many of the world's most famous leading ladies (such as Julia Roberts and Elizabeth Taylor), he has proven his talent and risen to the top as The King of Elegance. 2. TOM FORD Born in Texas this man is not only the Creative Director for Gucci, he's also the Creative Director for Yves Saint Laurent. Ford won the Best International Designer Award in 2000. 3. DONATELLA VERSACE is one of fashions most loved divas. Born in Calabria Italy, she took over her late brother Gianni Versace's design house. By following in his footsteps Donatella has become known for her sexy yet elegant designs. 4. ALEXANDER MCQUEEN is one of the worlds most innovative and outstanding designers. Known for his theatrical influence, his creations are not only beautiful but also colourful and raw. 5. BETSEY JOHNSON. Her designs are brilliant, bold and fun. They are funky and edgy, with a lifetime of flare. Straight from the American fashion capital [New York] Betsey is known for "her celebration of the exuberant". 6. RALPH LAUREN. He could possibly be the king of ready-to wear.

lifestyle WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3, 2015 Fashion Kanye West presents the Fashion Icon Award to Pharrell Williams. Pharrell honored, Kimye steals the show at fashion awards t was Pharrell Williams who was being honored as a fashion icon, but it was another music superstar who got a lot of Ithe attention at the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America awards on Monday night. Introducing Pharrell, the producer-singer-songwriter who was receiving the evening’s Fashion Icon award, Kanye West took the opportunity not just to praise his friend, but to express some frustration at the fashion industry - for, he suggested, its cool reception to his efforts to be a serious fashion designer. “It is very difficult to break perception,” West said. “Fashion had to be the hardest high school I ever entered. At least I had a big brother,” he said, referring to Pharrell, who “talked me through it and kept me going” in the face of criticism over his fashions. West called Pharrell “my style idol.” Pharrell, in turn, thanked many fashion figures who’ve influenced his career and his personal style, and concluded by saying: “I’m not a style icon. I’m just inspired. And I’m OK with that.” Forgoing his famous shorts and tall hat for a very casual ensemble of lived- in jeans, a blue leather jacket and a beret-style cap, he spoke at length about his dual loves of music and fashion, and their relationship to each other. He also made a point of thanking the fashion world’s lead- ing arbiter, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, for giving him some key visibility in her magazine a decade ago.
