With the global market for sparkling wine continuing to grow, we pride ourselves on sourcing the best quality sparkling wines at affordable prices and packaging them in ways that appeal to international consumers. TOCA CAVA BACKGROUND Like all the wines in our range, we tasted thousands of Cavas before creating the Toca range. We wanted a wine that ticked all the boxes: • Classic Cava identity: native Macabeo, Parellada and Trepat grapes • Clean taste profile: Clean, fresh and crisp style with none of the mousiness sometimes associated with Cava. • Fine, integrated bubbles: Made using the traditional bottle fermentation method and aged for 12-15 months prior to release • Estate wine: Rather than buying in grapes, the winemaker uses grapes from vineyards he was personally responsible for planting in 1985. TOCA CAVA THE INSPIRATION • The word “Toca” means touch and it gave us many ideas to play with: • Texture – the tactile nature of the bubbles on your palate • Finger prints– the delicate touch of the hands that pick the grapes and make the wine with such care • Contour lines- we saw that the contour lines of the nearby Serra de Tallat resemble finger prints TOCA CAVA THE RESULT A premium, iridescent label features embossed ridges that echo fingerprints. TOMÀS CUSINÉ VILOSELL 2015 TOMÀS CUSINÉ || In 2003, Tomàs Cusiné decided to embark on a new wine producing project; one into which he could put all of his passion and knowledge for producing the finest wines. His extensive experience in the DO (with Castell de Remei) enables Tomàs to create wines of the highest character and elegance, marking the beginning of a project with great hopes and ambitions His aim, as always, was to elaborate wines full of character that were capable of fully reflecting the characteristics of the soils from which they were produced. He also wished to take up the challenge of producing wines that reflected his personal wine-making philosophy. COSTERS DEL SEGRE || The Costers del Segre DO was created in 1986 and it have seven subzones with several different micro climes. It is a unique zone with both indigenous, native varieties and more recent plantings of many other varieties. Tomàs Cusiné is located in the village of El Vilosell, province of Lleida subzone Les Garrigues, in the totally south of the DO, calcareous area on the north side of the Sierra de la Llena bordering by the province of Tarragona and the regions of Priorat and Conca de Barberá. Spain Is a Viticulture Miracle Waiting to Happen, and Has Been in This Pregnant State for Longer Than Seems Decent
SPAIN In a nutshell: Land of American oak, sherry, and loin-yielding bush vines. Grapes: Tempranillo, Garnacha (Grenache) (RED), Airen, Viura (Maccabeo), Verdejo, Albarino (XMITE) Spain is a viticulture miracle waiting to happen, and has been in this pregnant state for longer than seems decent. Proud possessor of more land devoted to vines than any other, Spain is only just beginning to capitalize on this resource in any consistent or cohesive way - which is perhaps not surprising. If it had Germany's love of efficiency, or France's respect for bureaucracy, Spain might be sending us oceans of judiciously priced wine made expressly for the international market. But Spain is an anarchic jumble of districts and regions, just as its landscape is an anarchic jumble of staggeringly raw scenery and heartbreakingly awful human constructions, and has to be treated as such by the wine enthusiast. There is real treasure to be found by those prepared to dig, however and, as a connoisseur class develops in Spain itself, all manner of ambitious investors are planning to change the image of Spanish wine. A look at the map suggests just how much climatic diversity there is likely to be between Spain's many wine regions, from the soggy vine yards of Galicia on the north Atlantic coast to the baked Mediterranean south east. Spain's saving grace, viticulturally, is the altitude of her vineyards, many over 650 m (2000 ft).
