By way of background, Wangaratta Unlimited is the economic development arm of the Rural City of Wangaratta. In November last year it decided to take a proactive response to the global economic downturn and commenced developing a response strategy. This strategy was finalised in February 2009 and submitted to Council for adoption. The strategy is based on the premise that "now is not the time to be timid". It acknowledges that while the Wangaratta regional economy will not be immune from the affects of the economic downturn, there are measures that can be undertaken to buffer these affects and indeed provide offsets to employment and economic activity in other directions.     Early Childhood Community Profile Shire of Mansfield 2010 Early Childhood Community Profile Shire of Mansfield 2010 This Early Childhood community profile was prepared by the Office for Children and Portfolio Coordination, in the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. The series of Early Childhood community profiles draw on data on outcomes for children compiled through the Victorian Child and Adolescent Monitoring System (VCAMS). The profiles are intended to provide local level information on the health, wellbeing, learning, safety and development of young children. They are published to: • Equip communties with the information required to identify the needs of children and families within their local government area. • Aid Best Start partnerships with local service development, innovation and program planning to improve outcomes for young children. • Support local government and regional planning of early childhood services; and • Assist community service agencies working with vulnerable families and young people. In 1882 the Australian Electric Company established a small central generating station, taking Melbourne to the vanguard of public electricity supply. Private and publicly owned power stations, including the Spencer Street Power Station, followed over the next few decades. & the Speaker: Miles Pierce is a retired electrical (power) engineer and former Principal Electrical Engineer at GHD Victoria. He has worked on electricity generation, distribution and utilisation projects.
