It is a privilege to serve as your Chairman again and I hope you can enjoy a good number of rallies this sea- son. In my last message I suggested that the 2019/20 season would bring with it some interesting challenges, however, I was only talking about financial ones, not the fact that our rally pro- gramme would be decimated by COVID-19 and I hope that is not the case for 2021. We have a full programme of events and my thanks go to our ex Rally Secretary Merve for his hard work and thanks to the rally Officers for being prepared to run the rallies under some new and quite demanding COVID policies. Again, this year we have a small committee which means that we are all doubling up on jobs but I am pleased to announce that we do have a Vice Chair for this season in Denise I hope she enjoys her time as much as I did in that role. I must remind you, that all your officers and committee members give up their own free time to work to ensure this centre is thriving and a good place to come rallying, my thanks go to them for their constant hard work and support. Our website is up and running and improving all the time, it’s the place to go for all things cen- tre related. I thank Laura for compiling this handbook, during these difficult circumstances, as this year most of our main sponsors are not subscribing to the programme due to the effects of COVID. I welcome back Joe and his young caravanners committee, who in his first year of chairman- ship has had a baptism of fire, don’t worry Joe it can only get better and we look forward to what events and money raising ideas they get up to this season. Let’s pray for decent weather and good rallying in 2021 and Suzanne and I hope to see you on many rally fields this year. A The Marina. AREA 75 Approved UreUre CorridorCorridor recreationrecreation areaarea Feb 2004 (Ripon(Ripon ToTo NewbyNewby Reach)Reach) Description This is an area of intensive recreational use situated along the eastern edge of Ripon and covering almost 4km² of the Ripon Canal and River Ure corridor. The two water courses run almost parallel to each other in a north-south direction through the area to the point where they meet approximately one mile upstream of Newby Hall. The watercourses are well-wooded providing an intimate and attractive setting for boaters and walkers with dispersed views into the landscape beyond. A strong network of public footpaths provides easy access to the banks of the canal and much of the riverbank and is a valuable resource to the local community. Beyond the watercourses, the flat landscape is more open and management is a mixture of wild looking wetland with outgrown hedges and unkempt vege tation that contrast with the manicured appearance of the marina, sailing club and racecourse. Built form and boundary treatments display a variety of styles and modern materials that lack cohesion giving a somewhat chaotic appearance to this pleasant area. • Edition 10: 20Th September 2013
Edition 10: 20th September 2013 Rugby World Cup 2015 Lead Up and Legacy Activity The RFU launched the seven strands of its national Lead up and Legacy plan on October 31st 2012. The aim of this is to set out an overall framework against which national resource will be invested in the lead up to RWC 2015 with the aim of increasing interest and participation in the game. Whilst many Clubs, CBs, Schools, Colleges, Universities and other bodies are working hard to develop local projects to meet identified local need these seven strands are areas in which we will invest national resource to create change in Rugby communities across the country. It is hoped that those delivery bodies that have not yet identified their focus will focus in on these areas and take action to improve provision and opportunities against these themes. Six Regional Activation and Legacy Groups are now up and running and are working to add value to the seven strands and to engage partners from outside of the immediate rugby community in supporting the efforts of those within it. Each group is populated by representatives from CBs and from the wider community. Attached as an appendix to this CB update is a brief overview of progress against the seven strands along with listings of clubs/projects etc involved to date – this will be updated for each issue. In addition to the work against the seven strands strong working relationships have been established with England Rugby 2015, the Organising Body for the tournament itself, and an update on relevant areas are also included in the appendix.
