Geophysical Survey Webb, A Morley : Archaeological Services WYAS, 2006, 15pp, figs, refs Work undertaken by: Archaeological Services WYAS There were no instances of clear archaeological anomalies at the site, however this may have been due to a combination of extensive ferrous contamination and the magnetic properties of the soils and drift geology. The anomalies discovered were attributed to geology and not archaeological features. Other anomalies were recorded but were thought to have a low archaeological potential. Area B had ridge and furrow, recently removed field boundaries and drains. Geophysical Survey Archaeological Services WYAS Morley : Archaeological Services WYAS, 2006, 20pp, figs, tabs, refs Work undertaken by: Archaeological Services WYAS A number of field boundaries and a quantity of ridge and furrow were identified during the survey. This confirmed and expanded on the previous cropmark data. Land divisions and enclosures were thought to be present. The site had a high archaeological potential. Humber Hydrogen Pipeline [North Bank] Adcock, J Thornton : GSB Prospection, 2006, 14pp, figs, tabs, refs Work undertaken by: GSB Prospection The main area of archaeological interest detected along the proposed route was in Plot 8, an area of higher ground. The magnetic responses in this plot comprised a complex of small enclosures, ditches and pits, which all pointed towards the presence of past habitation on the site. Responses of less clear archaeological potential were located at other points, for example in Plots 3 and 9, but in most instances the results were difficult to interpret due to a lack of associated features. The narrow survey corridor and presence of numerous modern services also made interpretation difficult. Many of the anomalies could be natural in origin or related to agricultural practices. Plot 7 had an artificially high magnetic background, indicating some form of ground disturbance or spreading of presumed modern material. A number of anomalies of possible archaeological interest were located, suggesting pits, ditches and a roadway. However, no evidence was found for the Roman road, and it was thought to pass further to the south. Anomalies may have reflected an alignment of pits was detected along the northern edge area. Clusters of anomalies which might have reflected groups of pits were detected in the southern part of Area 1 and the north-western corner of Area 2. Linear and curvilinear anomalies have been detected in Areas 1 and 2 which might have reflected ditches and gullies. Sinuous anomalies traversing Area 1 aligned east/west may have reflected palaeochannels or be features associated with glaciations. Traces of ridge and furrow cultivation were detected in Area 1. Archaeological Desk- based Assessment and Geophysical Survey Gardner, R D & Bunn, D Lincoln : Pre-Construct Archaeology (Lincoln), 2006, 72pp, colour pls, figs, tabs, refs Work undertaken by: Pre-Construct Archaeology (Lincoln) The project identified the archaeological potential of the site as low, due to the primary land use since the Saxon period being agricultural in nature. Geophysical survey identified features that were probably associated with quarrying in the medieval and post-medieval periods. The remains of a Roman or earlier field system were depicted. Some very weak responses were also noted further north (Plot 19) and appeared to have a rectilinear distribution. However, natural anomalies combined with ploughing striations could also have caused such a response. Many of the survey areas showed evidence of more modern farming practices such as drains and ploughing trends. In some areas
