These are not our words but this statement comes from Mr. Ned Overend (symbol of World MTB) who won the Grundig World Cup (the only stage in Italy at that time) on April 25, 1994 after an epic duel with Jonh Tomac, which took place in our village , Capoliveri - Island of Elba, in the Elbano promontory, at the first of a three-years period of the Italian Cup circuit at the beginning of the MTB in Italy. Just the old track of this wonderful event combined with more than 130 km of roads, muleteers, firebreaks and forest tracks, single track on the Capoliverese Promontory, thanks to the support of the Municipality of Capoliveri, which has always supported our initiative, the desire and the passion of a group of enthusiastic biking lovers, is born our Association named ASD Capoliveri Bike Park MTB Club Isola d’Elba and the Bike Park, whose purpose is the retrieval and maintenance of the existing paths on our territory and the organization of events related to the world of MTB. The Capoliveri Bike Park, was born with 5 permanent paths, interchangeable with each other, marked by appropriate wooden signs, with signs in the territory and maps, distinguished between denomination, colors and degrees of difficulty. Over the years is change integrating the various disciplines that this sport offers, from the cross country, as it was born, to paths that now are also for free ride, enduro and downhill, to continue to attract, as every year, thousands of Bikers from all over Italy and outside (mainly Europe), going to enhance the marvelous views of the slopes from east to west, overlooking the TUSCANY and CORSICA, in the National Park of the Tuscan Arcipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea, a real open-air gym for lovers of this sport. The creation of the Asd Capoliveri Bike Park at the end of 2009 is also the birth of the Capoliveri Legend Cup, MTB “Gran Fondo” competition, which became a Marathon in 2015, where the essence of Mtb in our land is valorised, for realy bikers. The growth of our event, which arrived in 2018 at the 9th edition, has made that, since 2016 the Capoliveri Legend Cup has become a stage of the international UCI Marathon Series circuit, allowing our race to become one of the most important race for professional athletes of the discipline, presenting to the start every year World Champions, European and other National Champions, making the quality of the race to the most important standards for our Organizing Committee, with pride for all our group of members and volunteers, that moved up the bar of our future projects. LOCATION Capoliveri, was a village of miners and today is a destination for international tourism. The pretty village, located in the hills and in the middle of a green peninsula, dominates the surrounding sea giving the opportunity to admire beautiful views. From here a big part of Elba Island, the Island of Montecristo, Pianosa, the Tuscan coast and even Corsica can be admired in all their beauty. It seems that you can touch them. Its beautiful square, a beautiful terrace and the illuminated bell tower in the background await you every evening. It's like being in a comfortable living room, being together at the tables of the outdoor bars, for an ice cream, for a simple walk or to admire one of the many events scheduled during the summer. CAPOLIVERI LEGEND XCO – 2^ INTERNAZIONALI D’ITALIA SERIES 2021 3 The Capoliverese (so called the citizen of Capoliveri) has a proud history, (Capoliveri was the only village in Elba not to bow to Napoleon's wishes); a culture of its own. He often has a different accent from the other citizen of Elba despite the few kilometers that separate them and traditions still alive that have been handed down for generations. The Festa del Cavatore, the Grape Festival, the historical re-enactments like the Legend of Innamorata are followed every year by thousands of people and have become, thanks to the dedication of the local cultural associations and of the people themselves, real meetings with memories and the traditions of a past not far in time but very different from today's lifestyle. The Island of Elba is a land of traditions, enchanting scenery and lush nature. Equipped for demanding tourism but at the same time still protected and uncontaminated. An integral part of the National Park of the Tuscan Arcipelago, Elba has hundreds of beaches and small coves of rare beauty, many and varied that satisfy any desire for relaxation and fun. Its seabeds are a paradise for divers, its territory can easily be traveled by car, motorbike or public transport, but it is on foot, by bicycle or on horseback that you discover the "real nature" of Elba and the its "true nature", from the coasts up to the 1.019 meters of Monte Capanne (the highest peak). Such changes have important effects in producing anomalous structures, mass displacement, rock fracturing, and, in some conditions, hydrothermal mineralizations. In the Campiglia Marittima area, detailed field mapping led to the reconstruction of a local deformation history that overlaps, chronologically and spatially, with regional extension. This local deformation was triggered at the Miocene-Pliocene boundary by the intrusion of a monzogranitic pluton beneath a carbonate sedimentary sequence. The emplacement of the pluton produced a perturbation in the rheological behaviour of the carbonate host rocks, producing transient ductile conditions in the very shallow crust. The carbonate rocks were thermally weakened and flowed laterally, accumulating downslope of the pluton roof, mainly toward the east. As the thermal anomaly was decaying, the brittle-ductile boundary moved progressively back towards the pluton, and large tension gash- shaped volumes of fractured marble were generated.

    QUADRO CONOSCITIVO Ambito n°27 ISOLA D’ELBA PROVINCE : Livorno TERRITORI APPARTENENTI AI COMUNI : Campo nell’Elba, Capoliveri, Capraia Isola, Marciana, Marciana Marina, Porto Azzurro, Portoferrraio, Rio Marina, Rio nell’Elba L’isola d’Elba – distante 10 km dal continente – misura 27 km da est a ovest, 18 da nord a sud; é fortemente montuosa, avendo solo il 6% del territorio in pianura I monti e le colline sono in 3 settori, separati da due valichi bassissimi. Da occidente verso oriente: il mas- siccio di M. Capanne (m. 1018), il settore centrale (m. S. Martino e M. Orello, m. 370 e 377) e la striscia prospiciente la costa conti- nentale: da nord a sud, M. Serra, 422 m. (Rio Marina), m. Castello, m. 516 (Porto Azzurro), m. Calamita, m. 413 (Capoliveri). Il settore di ponente è di rocce granitiche, il settore orientale di rocce scistose metamorfiche (ferrifere). L’idrografia è modestissima, date le dimensioni e la forma dell’isola (nessun punto del territorio arriva a distare 4 km dal mare). I mag- giori torrenti discendono dal M. Capanne, (rio di Pomonte, rio di Bovalico, con foce presso Marina di Campo).
