CRIPPLE BASTARDS are known throughout the grinding underground as “Italy’s Purest Manifestation of Hate” and one listen to any of their incendiary releases from any point in their almost-2 decade-long career bears this out beyond a shadow of a doubt. With the release of “Desperately Insensitive”, the band have truly coalesced their influences as well as their experience into a seamlessly ferocious, utterly overpowering experience. Showcasing their propensity for progressing the Grindcore medium while never slackening their attack, CRIPPLE BASTARDS have pushed themselves far beyond their own precedents. Unceasingly up-tempo, “Desperately Insensitive” processes post-hardcore, brutal Death Metal, fast-core, noise/math-core and of course, the essential ingredient of Grindcore through their own barbaric, trademark sound. Featuring elements of dissonance and angularity that would have sounded out of place on some of their previous recordings, “Desperately Insensitive” stands clearly above not only the band’s previous work, but above the work of the vast majority of their peers. Recorded by at Nadir Studios Tommy Talamanca of Italian Metal act SADIST, “Desperately Insensitive” is only made more powerful and aggressive by the clean and crisp sound. Each of the 19 tracks is in-your-face, rude, and undeniable. The savagely ferocious drums provoke the massive wall of spiteful guitars and vicious bass to dizzying heights and depths of extremity and Giulio the Bastard’s manic screams assault the listener from all directions, from frantic Japcore screams, to subsonic Death grunts and pissed-off Hardcore bursts. The power and vision of CRIPPLE BASTARDS is irrefutable. The band’s anti-politically-correct lyrics attack everyone, and especially the hypocrisy of the punk/HC scene, no holds barred, brutal spite, made even more vitriolic by GTB’s relentless vocal delivery. In short this album is delivers on all counts, with its stylistically sadistic artwork, caustic lyrics, and of course, its monolithic Grindcore attack. Obscene Productions is proud to provide you a special re-edition of this masterpiece including over half an hour of bonus material (their whole Obscene Extreme 2003 set with an incredibly tight and powerful sound, with no doubt the best CB live mix ever heard) and a completely new packaging FEATURING unreleased pics of the infamous granny torture snuff session that brought the bastards to a long trial in Italy. This course situates the activity of listening to punk music in its broader cultural ideologies, such as the DIY (do-it-yourself) ideal, which includes nontraditional musical pedagogy and composition, cooperatively owned performance venues, and underground distribution and circulation practices. Students learn to analyze punk subculture as an alternative social formation and how punk productions confront and are times co-opted by capitalistic logic and normative economic, political and social arrangements. 3. • From Crass to Thrash, to Squeakers: the Suspicious Turn to Metal in UK Punk and Hardcore Post ‘85
View metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk brought to you by CORE provided by De Montfort University Open Research Archive From Crass to Thrash, to Squeakers: The Suspicious Turn to Metal in UK Punk and Hardcore Post ‘85. Otto Sompank I always loved the simplicity and visceral feel of all forms of punk. From the Pistols take on the New York Dolls rock, or the UK Subs aggressive punk take on rhythm and blues. The stark reality Crass and the anarchist-punk scene was informed with aspects of obscure seventies rock too, for example Pete Wright’s prog bass lines in places. Granted. Perhaps the most famous and intense link to rock and punk was Motorhead. While their early output and LP’s definitely had a clear nod to punk (Lemmy playing for the Damned), they appealed to most punks back then with their sheer aggression and intensity. It’s clear Motorhead and Black Sabbath influenced a lot of street-punk and the ferocious tones of Discharge and their Scandinavian counterparts such as Riistetyt, Kaaos and Anti Cimex. The early links were there but the influence of late 1970s early 80s NWOBM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) and street punk, Discharge etc. in turn influenced Metallica, Anthrax and Exodus in the early eighties. Most of them can occasionally be seen sporting Discharge, Broken Bones and GBH shirts on their early record-sleeve pictures. Not only that, Newcastle band Venom were equally influential in the mix of new genre forms germinating in the early 1980s. One of the early examples of the incorporation of rock and metal into the UK punk scene came from Discharge.

More recently, studies have neglected content analysis due to perceived homogeneity in themes, despite evidence that the modern genre is distinct from its past. As lyrical patterns are strong markers of genre, this study attempts to characterize heavy metal in the 21st century by analyzing lyrics for specific themes and perspectives. Citing evidence that the “Millennial” generation confers significant developments to popular culture, the contemporary genre is termed “Millennial heavy metal” throughout, and the study is framed accordingly.

  • Production Perspectives of Heavy Metal Record Producers
This article has been accepted for publication in a revised form by Popular Music and end- users may view and download the material for private research and study only. Production Perspectives of Heavy Metal Record Producers Dr Niall Thomas University of Winchester Dr Andrew King University of Hull Abstract The study of the recorded artefact from a musicological perspective continues to unfold through contemporary research. Whilst an understanding of the scientific elements of recorded sound is well documented the exploration of the artistic nature of this endeavour from a production viewpoint is still developing. This study presents an understanding of the phenomenological aspects of Heavy Metal music from the perspective of seven renowned producers working within this genre. Through a series of interviews and subsequent in-depth analysis particular sonic qualities are identified as key within the production of this work: impact; energy; precision; and extremity. A framework is then put forward for understanding sonic elements of recorded Heavy Metal Music. Keywords: recording; Heavy Metal; production; producers; phenomenology Introduction The twenty-first century provides a rich source of creative opportunity through digital technology for practicing musicians to record music. The affordances of the digital revolution have subsequently changed the opportunities for those involved in the creation of such works. Technology enables those who could be described as amateur music makers the opportunity to record music with relative ease. The democratisation of technology has meant that mobile devices can become pocket sized recording studios (Leyshon, 2009), whilst affordable solutions and emulations of previously prohibitively expensive computing and recording technology are readily available via the Internet.

The technology associated with certain aspects of music making is now more widespread and enables a new sense of creative musical freedom; music producers command a limitless array of technological choices. Despite the benefits of the ever-increasing rate of technological development, the recording industry is changing dramatically, and with it, the production perspectives of record producers.

  • Untitled" - Ah Tiens, on Cogne À La Porte !

  • Latin Derivatives Dictionary
Dedication: 3/15/05 I dedicate this collection to my friends Orville and Evelyn Brynelson and my parents George and Marion Greenwald. I especially thank James Steckel, Barbara Zbikowski, Gustavo Betancourt, and Joshua Ellis, colleagues and computer experts extraordinaire, for their invaluable assistance. Kathy Hart, MUHS librarian, was most helpful in suggesting sources. I further thank Gaylan DuBose, Ed Long, Hugh Himwich, Susan Schearer, Gardy Warren, and Kaye Warren for their encouragement and advice. My former students and now Classics professors Daniel Curley and Anthony Hollingsworth also deserve mention for their advice, assistance, and friendship. My student Michael Kocorowski encouraged and provoked me into beginning this dictionary. Certamen players Michael Fleisch, James Ruel, Jeff Tudor, and Ryan Thom were inspirations. Sue Smith provided advice. James Radtke, James Beaudoin, Richard Hallberg, Sylvester Kreilein, and James Wilkinson assisted with words from modern foreign languages.
