Recycle Your Bottle Tops to Help Someone in Need

Envision is a charity that upcycles plastic bottle tops and makes prosthetic hands in their Envision Hands program. Our Environment Captain, Meera Nirmalendran, initiated this project this term.

Please bring in your clean milk and soft drink tops to school to support this worthy cause.

The tops all have to be made of plastic and with the number 2 and 4 in the recycled triangle on their underside.

Please place the bottle tops in the tubs located outside 6L or in the Outdoor Kitchen in Infants.

Approximately 250 lids are used to make a small hand. So what are you waiting for? Start your collection today!

Year 6 Service Learning Project Miss Susanna Matters Year 6 Coordinator

This year, the Year 6 Service Learning Project will focus on assisting immigrants in our local community. The girls will be working hard to earn money at home, which they will use to purchase carefully selected grocery items for Anglicare’s Mobile Community Pantry.

Last week, Year 6 was joined by Anglicare representative Ashleigh Lee-Joe, who discussed the impact that the girls’ donations will have on the lives of immigrants who have recently arrived in Australia. The girls were grateful to have the opportunity to speak with Ashleigh and they asked many questions about other ways they can continue to support immigrants and refugees in our community.

Year 3 Wellbeing Day Miss Brittany Black Year 3 Coordinator

On Wednesday 18 September, Year 3 took time to focus on developing their social, emotional and mental wellbeing. By participating in a stretch and flex session as well discussing key topics including sleep, healthy food choices, personal strengths and independent problem solving, students became more aware of how to ‘be well’.

The girls were delighted to work with a range of teachers and a guest instructor throughout the day. We hope to see the students putting their new knowledge and skills into practice at home and at school.

JS Singles and Doubles Competitions Mr Paul Guirreri JS PDHPE Coordinator

Last Saturday saw another wonderful JS Doubles Tennis Competition played on the Senior School tennis courts. After the preliminaries on Saturday, Harriet Chang (6D) and Evelyn Liu (6D) progressed to the final to face Morag Rennie (6L) and Abigail Turner (5L).

The final was decided at school on Monday in front a big crowd of their peers. In another tight tussle which featured a number of excellent rallies, Harriet Chang and 2019 Tennis Captain Evelyn Liu came out on top. Congratulations girls!

This Saturday sees our JS Singles Competition taking place from 1-4 pm again at the Senior School courts. The two girls who progress to the final will face off on Monday 23 September at 1 pm. We wish all of our singles tennis players every success in the competition. Senior School
