  • Carol Wade, St
18.247 Swords must not be divided and must be kept united for Council elections Carol Wade, St. Margaret's - Swords submission Dear Committee, My submission is that Swords (Swords-Lissenhall, Swords-Glasmore, Swords-Village, Swords- Seatown, Swords-Forrest - all of Swords and surrounding areas), including the environs of Rolestown, Kilsallaghan and St. Margaret's (electoral divisions of Dubber and Kilsallaghan), is the capital town of Fingal and must remain united within the one Fingal County Council Swords Local Election Area ("LEA"). Fingal towns and their environs must be kept intact as part of any LEA boundary adjustments. Swords, including Rolestown, Kilsallaghan and St. Margaret's, must remain intact as a 7 seat Swords LEA, which is the maximum permitted (reduced from 9). The Dáil Éireann boundaries between Dublin Fingal and Dublin West must be respected and remain aligned with the new LEA's. The parts of west Swords (Rolestown, Kilsallaghan and St. Margaret's) that were correctly moved back to the then new Dáil Éireann Constituency of Dublin Fingal in 2012, must remain part of the Swords LEA and not become disenfranchised as a make-weight within a Dublin West LEA. No part of Swords should be moved to the Howth / Malahide or any other LEA. The logical border between the Swords and Howth / Malahide LEA's should be the M1, with Holywell moving from the Howth / Malahide LEA to the Swords LEA (with the exception of the Melrose estate which is split by the M1 and should remain united in the Howth / Malahide LEA). In summary: Swords (Swords-Lissenhall, Swords-Glasmore, Swords-Village, Swords-Seatown, Swords-Forrest - all of Swords and the surrounding areas), including the environs of Rolestown, Kilsallaghan and St.

  • Share Newsletter Gives You Some Information on the Share Collection and the Way It Is Utilised
SHARE - NEWSLETTER - November 25th 2018 Dear Friends I am very much aware of the many financial calls that have been made within the Catholic Church in recent times and I am genuinely grateful for the generous response that has come especially from Mass-going Catholics. Share, our diocesan development fund, is still an important funding lifeline for the many services that support the pastoral outreach of the diocese as well as support for poorer parishes. The coming years will be crucial for us in our efforts to sustain a lively Church and its varied witness to the message of Jesus Christ. Together with the Diocesan Finance Committee, it is my intention to ensure that limited funds are used in an optimal way and that our services are marked by a style of sobriety befitting the Church. The Share newsletter gives you some information on the Share Collection and the way it is utilised. I am sure that you will see how worthwhile and necessary the service is in supporting the Church right across the Archdiocese. With renewed thanks and prayers, THE SECOND COLLECTION, SHARE, IS A CONCRETE EXPRESSION OF COMMUNION BETWEEN THE PEOPLE AND THE PARISHES OF THE DUBLIN DIOCESE. YOUR ONGOING SUPPORT FOR SHARE IS VITAL TO THE LIFE OF THE CHURCH. • Your support helps provide immediate financial support for lower income parishes in difficulty. Church renovations and repairs, development of Parish Centres and assistance with maintenance costs are a priority for the SHARE Building Fund. • Your support for SHARE helps promote the Catholic Faith throughout the 199 parishes of the Archdiocese, giving a particular priority to the spiritual care and evangelisation of young people through the work of the Office for Evangelisation and Ecumenism.

ROINN COSANTA BUREAU OF MILITARY HISTORY, 1913-21. STATEMENT BY WITNESS. DOCUMENT NO. W.S. 1398 Witness Michael Rock, Main North St., Swords, Co. Dublin Identity. Commandant, Naul Battalion, Fingal Brigade I.R.A. Subject: National activities, 1914 - 1921 Conditions, if any, Stipulated by Witness. Nil File No. S.2711 Form B.S.M.2 STATEMENT BY MICHAEL ROCK North Street, Swords, Co. Dublin. I was born at The Naul, Co. Dublin, and received my education at the local school there. Our teacher was a Mr. Lehane who hailed from Kerry. This man was an enthusiast about the Irish language and he taught this to us, although it was not one of the subjects laid down by the Board of Education which was a British Government institution. Other than learning our own language, there was nothing taught which would lead one to become a separztist, or an out-and-out Irish patriot. At this time there was a branch of the Gaelic League in The Naul and I joined this and this, together with what we had learned at school, helped to mould our minds in the right direction. The late Patrick Archer of Oldtown was responsible for having the Gaelic League branch started in The Naul. A hurling club was started also around 1909 and I was prominent in its activities. Prior to the Rebellion there was no Irish Volunteer activities in the area. When the executions took place after the Rebellion in was a of 1916 there surge resentment amongst the people against such acts by the British Government, and when the prisoners were released at the end of 1916 and in the early part of 1917, we, the young men in the Naul area, looked forward to a renewal of activities by the men from the Fingal area.

  • Chapter 11 Introduction to Investigation of the 46 Priests
Chapter 11 Introduction to investigation of the 46 priests Selecting the representative sample 11.1 The Commission received information about complaints, suspicions or knowledge of child sexual abuse in respect of 172 named priests and 11 unnamed priests. (Some or all of the 11 unnamed priests may, of course, be included in the 172 named priests.) After a preliminary examination, the Commission concluded that 102 of these priests were within remit. Of those priests who were not within the Commission‟s terms of reference, two main reasons for their exclusion were identified: the complaint was made outside the time period 1975 – 2004; the priest was not operating under the aegis of the Archdiocese of Dublin at the time of the alleged abuse. The priests in question here were mainly priests belonging to religious orders and societies who were working in Dublin but not on behalf of the Archdiocese. 11.2 The Commission decided that the only realistic way in which it could select and report on a representative sample of those complaints and suspicions was to select a representative sample of the priests concerned. Otherwise, the Commission may have had to investigate every priest within remit. The representative sample was chosen from the group of 102 priests who were within remit. The Commission took the view that it was impractical to make two separate samples for those against whom complaints were made and those about whom there were suspicions or concerns. Almost invariably, there were suspicions or concerns expressed about those against whom complaints were made. There was a very small number of priests about whom suspicions or concerns were expressed but about whom no actual complaints were made.
