E-mails: [email protected]; [email protected] [Demir, H. & Seyyar, O. 2017. Annotated checklist of the spiders of Turkey. Munis Entomology & Zoology, 12 (2): 433-469] ABSTRACT: The list provides an annotated checklist of all the spiders from Turkey. A total of 1117 spider species and two subspecies belonging to 52 families have been reported. The list is dominated by members of the families Gnaphosidae (145 species), Salticidae (143 species) and Linyphiidae (128 species) respectively. KEY WORDS: Araneae, Checklist, Turkey, Fauna To date, Turkish researches have been published three checklist of spiders in the country. The first checklist was compiled by Karol (1967) and contains 302 spider species. The second checklist was prepared by Bayram (2002). He revised Karol’s (1967) checklist and reported 520 species from Turkey. Latest checklist of Turkish spiders was published by Topçu et al. (2005) and contains 613 spider records. A lot of work have been done in the last decade about Turkish spiders. So, the checklist of Turkish spiders need to be updated. We updated all checklist and prepare a new checklist using all published the available literatures. This list contains 1117 species of spider species and subspecies belonging to 52 families from Turkey (Table 1). This checklist is compile from literature dealing with the Turkish spider fauna. The aim of this study is to determine an update list of spider in Turkey.

Impact introduced at least once. The most common spider on human health may be caused by bites and subsequent families are Theridiidae (27 species), Pholcidae (15), need for medical treatments. For all these impact Salticidae (14), Sparassidae (14), Ctenidae (14), and categories, however, only anecdotal evidence is given Theraphosidae (13) but overall establishment rate was for alien spiders in Europe. This may change when spiders only 28 %. No ctenids or theraphosids established, and of medical importance such as the frequently introduced only one sparassid species, but many theridiids and Latrodectus species will establish. Considering the current pholcids. Most introduced species originated from South trends it is concluded that introduction and establishment (34 %), Central (10 %) or North (12 %), America, Asia rates of alien spiders will strongly increase in the next (19 %) and Africa (15 %). Only few of the South and years unless preventive methods become more efficient. Central American species could establish, while species from North America (36 %) and Asia (63 %) had much Keywords Origin, contaminant Á Environmental higher establishment rates. Past records were compiled and four new surveys of spiders in Ulleungdo Island were conducted from May to September 2019. The surveys were conducted at 18 sites in seven of the nine major administrative districts. A total of 114 species from 84 genera in 26 families were identified from 958 individual spiders. The 21 spider species belonging to 10 families were added to the known spider fauna on Ulleungdo Island from the present study. The survey results were combined present results with previous records showed there were 242 species from 143 genera in 32 families on Ulleungdo Island. The species richness in each family was high, in the order Araneidae, Theridiidae, Salticidae, Linyphiidae, Tetragnathidae, Thomisidae, Gnaphodidae and Philodromidae. Four Korean endemic species, Coscinida ulleungensis Paik, 1995, Steatoda ulleungensis Paik, 1995, Drassodes taehadongensis Paik, 1995 and Phrurolithus pennatoides Seo, 2018, found only on Ulleungdo Island. In addition, the following six indigenous species that inhabit only in Ulleungdo Island: Euryopis octomaculata (Paik, 1995), Porrhomma montanum Jackson, 1913, Piratula knorri (Scopoli, 1763), Cladothela parva Kamura, 1991, Cladothela unciinsignita (Bösenberg and Strand, 1906) and Clubiona tongdaoensis Zhang, Yin, Bao and Kim, 1997.

CHAPTER-VI 6. SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS 1. From the four selected sub-sites from Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary namely, Natural Forest, Riparian Habitat, Agricultural Fields and Forest Plantations a total of 148 species belonging to 90 genera and 29 families were collected (Table 31). 2. Natural forest has 136 species of spiders belonging to 84 genera and 28 families whereas Riparian Habitat has 79 species of spiders belonging to 50 genera and 17 families and in Forest plantations 46 species of spiders belonging to 37 genera and 15 families were recorded (Table 32 & 33). 3. In total five major agricultural fields of Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary harbours 62 species of spiders belonging to 43 genera and 16 families. Out of which: a. Castor fields harbours 50 species of spiders belonging to 41 genera and 16 families. b. Corn fields have 62 species of spiders from 43 genera and 16 families. c. Cotton fields have 51 species of spiders belonging to 39 genera and 16 families. d. Paddy fields sustain 47 species of spiders belonging to 35 genera and 14 families. e. Pigeonpea fields have 55 species of spiders belonging to 42 genera and 16 families. 4. Forest Plantations have minimum spider diversity because of less complex and uniform vegetation which reduces the hiding places for spiders. 5. Riparian habitat has average spider fauna but have unique spider diversity due to presence of humid atmosphere. 6. Family Pisauridae was recorded only from Riparian habitat as these spiders prefers to hunt for prey at the surface of water, also their eggs needs more humid atmosphere for successful hatching.
