The Incentive Components of the Tourist Offer from the Romanian Tisa Basin – Major Markers of the Regional Tourist Development Strategy
ROMANIAN REVIEW OF REGIONAL STUDIES, Volume VI, Number 2, 2010 THE INCENTIVE COMPONENTS OF THE TOURIST OFFER FROM THE ROMANIAN TISA BASIN – MAJOR MARKERS OF THE REGIONAL TOURIST DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY ŞTEFAN DEZSI 1, NICOLAE CIANG Ă 2, JANOS TALPAS 3 ABSTRACT – This paper makes a thoroughly analysis of the main factors which stimulate and define the tourism in the Tisa River basin in concerning both the primary touristic offer (the natural and the anthropic frame) and the infra-structural components, in order to identify the main opportunities of tourism development that are to be found as well as to prefigure the direction of this field’s development, which points out a real potential from this point of view. Consequently, after a preliminary identification of the whole range of tourist resources that are implied or can be implied in making the attractive endowment of the analysed region, we establish the main planning priorities, so that – on this basis – to indicate the main types of tourism and the possible tourist arrangements whose practising and, respectively, achievement, would permit the plenary integration of the Tisa River basin into the regional, national, and international tourist circuits. Keywords: tourist resources, tourism prospective research, attractiveness, assessment, tourist arrangements, types and forms of tourism, strategic coordinates, development strategies INTRODUCTION The overlapped geographical space of the Romanian Tisa river basin – integrating entirely ten counties (Alba, Arad, Bihor, Bistri Ńa-Năsăud, Cluj, Hunedoara, Maramure ş, Mure ş, S ălaj, Satu Mare) and partially other three counties (Harghita, Sibiu and Timis) - has enough arguments from a tourist point of view, as well for the integration into the national tourism, for the involvement in the global – European international tourism, and also for attracting tourist flows from the neighbouring countries (Hungary, Ukraine and even Serbia), as well as from the whole Europe. -
Strategies of 'Aesopian Language' in Romanian Literary Criticism Under
SLOVO , VOL. 24, NO . 2 (A UTUMN 2012), 75-95. The Rhetoric of Subversion: Strategies of ‘Aesopian Language’ in Romanian Literary Criticism under Late Communism ANDREI TERIAN Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, Romania This paper analyses the subversive strategies of ‘Aesopian language’ with reference to the discourse of the Romanian literary criticism written under late communism (1971-1989). The first two sections of the paper signal certain gaps and inconstancies in defining Aesopian language and in delineating its forms of manifestation; at the same time, they explain the spread of this subversive practice in the political and cultural context of Romanian communism. The following three sections analyse the manner in which Aesopian language materialized in the writings of some of the most important contemporary Romanian critics: Mircea Iorgulescu, Nicolae Manolescu and Mircea Martin. The final section of the study considers a revision of the current definitions of Aesopian language (through the concept of “triggers” theorized in this paper), a new classification of the rhetorical strategies acting globally in a subversive text, as well as a re-evaluation of the relevance of Aesopian language in the context of ‘resistance through culture’, which was the main form of opposition against the communist regime in Romania. INTRODUCTION In the Foreword to his famous pamphlet Imperialism: the Highest Stage of Capitalism (1917), V.I. Lenin cautioned his readers that the paper had been written ‘with an eye to the tsarist censorship’; therefore, he had found it essential to render his subversive doctrine ‘with extreme caution, by hints, in an allegorical language – in that accursed Aesopian language – to which tsarism compelled all revolutionaries to have recourse whenever they took up the pen to write a “legal” work’. -

Formica Pratensis Supercolony in the Hoia Forest (Cluj Napoca, Romania)
Biologia | Acta Scientiarum Transylvanica, 18/1, 2010. Formica pratensis supercolony in the Hoia Forest (Cluj Napoca, Romania) Klára Kiss1, Ottília Tímea Kóbori2 1Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania, Department of Horticulture, Op. 9, P.O. box 4, 540485 Târgu Mureş/Corunca, Romania, [email protected]. 2Hungarian Academy of Sciences Biological Research Cent re Institute of Plant Biology, H–6726 Szeged, Temesvári krt. 62. Abstract More than 150 ant species are able to form polydomous colonies. They are characterized by interconnected nests where the workers are tolerant to ward other workers from different nests of the same colony. Our goal was to find the social structure of the Formica pratensis nest aggregation from a clearing in the Hoia Forest (Cluj County, Romania). Aggressiveness tests were made between workers from nests situated in different distances to each other. The difference between intranest and internest aggressiveness was not significant and the first neighbors were as aggressive with each other as the second neighbors. The studied nest aggregation was a super co lony. Unfortunately the nest number decreased drastically from 50 in 2004 to 8 in 2010 probably because of the activity of hikers. We suppose that the social structure of the nest aggregation is not polydomous in pres ent. The affirmation of the change in social structure of this colony can be the next issue in this research. Keywords: Formica pratensis, polydomous, Cluj Napoca. Introduction Social structure in ants is very divers. The principal reason of this diversity is the variation in queen number (Bourke and Franks 1995). We can speak about mono and polygynous colonies, the colony can live in one single or in more nests. -
Rearticulating Socialist Subjectivities
Rearticulating Socialist Subjectivities Class and Gender in Romanian Fiction during Communism by Alexandru Demirel Emil Boican Submitted in accordance with the requirements for the degree of Doctor in Philosophy School of Slavonic and East European Studies University College London 2016 I, Alexandru Demirel Emil Boican confirm that the work presented in this thesis is my own. Where information has been derived from other sources, I confirm that this has been indicated in the thesis. 2 Abstract This thesis proposes a socio-cultural analysis of the articulation of socialist subjectivities in Romanian fiction during the communist period. The question underpinning my research, therefore, concerns the way in which the literary articulation of subjectivity changed across two historical divides: from the inter-war period to Socialist Realism and from Socialist Realism to the literature of the troubling decade. This thesis will be argued over four chapters, two of which will examine the works of Mihail Sadoveanu while a further two will dissect the works of Augustin Buzura. Through the close reading of the works of Sadoveanu and Buzura, whose careers span the two aforementioned historical divides, this thesis will trace the complex rearticulating of class and gender subjectivities as they evolved throughout the communist period, as well as the importance of the communist regime’s social legacies as regards the understanding of post 1989 social developments in Romania. Central to the communist regime’s project of social transformation was the creation of an egalitarian society by default of the abolition of capitalist classes and gender inequalities. While the regime claimed that the material basis of these inequalities had been eliminated and social emancipation was well advanced, critics considered that the official egalitarian discourse had erased social and individual differences and engendered the so-called “faceless masses”. -

Cluj-Napoca 2018 Foreword Collecting Data and Using It to Better Understand How the City Works Is a Process Underlying Any Smart City
Cluj-Napoca City Hall and Local Council Cluj-Napoca 2018 Foreword Collecting data and using it to better understand how the city works is a process underlying any smart city. The numbers allow us to see whether the evolution is in line with the city's long-term development strategy, but also assure us that we can take action as soon as possible, if needed, to redress trends in the targeted direction. This is why an endeavor coming from market specialists towards the community and local administration is all the more valuable, because it brings with it the expertise and effort of well documented people along with the constancy of analyzing this type of very specific data on an annual basis. Cluj is made up by the people of the city, and this is an example of good practice on how the local ecosystem of innovation can generate a context that will lead to the city's development. Transparency, communication and availability of the analyzed and processed data are elements that make the Real Estate Transactions Guide a very useful tool for the residents of Cluj and for those who choose Cluj as destination for their investments. LXVIII, z. 1–2 SECTIO F 2013 UMCS YULIA ORESHINA Cluj-Napoca in communist Romania: anatomy of urban changes and memory Cluj-Napoca w komunistycznej Rumunii: analiza zmian urbanistycznych – wspomnienie INTRODUCTION Modern Cluj-Napoca in Romania is a controversial and ambiguous city. It still preserves memories of Austro-Hungarian past as well as of the not so long past communist period. One cannot imagine the city nowadays without its old buildings remnant from Austrian times, or without the new neighbourhoods and parks that appeared in the second half of the 20th century. The city is situated on a cultural borderline: it was influenced by the Romanian, german and Hungarian cultures during history, and there lived a strong Jewish community up until the Second World War. Cluj-Napoca, as a multicultural city, comprised of a diversity and variety of minorities and ethnicities, is representative for Central-Eastern Eu- rope. The second half of the 20th century is a complex period in Cluj-Napoca’s urban space development. The two most important events which influenced the city’s landscape development were World War II and the Romanian Revolution of 1989. After World War II, Cluj found itself within the borders of the communist Romanian state. -
