Bevezetés A világ nyelvei jelentős különbségeket mutatnak a természetes nemek ki- fejezésében. A nyelvtani nemekkel rendelkező nyelvekben a nyelvtani nem általában egybeesik az élőlények természetes nemével. A nyelvtani nemeket nem ismerő nyelvekben – így a finnugor nyelvcsaládban is – a természetes nem leginkább lexikai eszközökkel fejezhető ki. A finnben ezek leggyakrab- ban férfiakra és nőkre vonatkozó elő- és utótagok (pl. nais- ’nő-’, mies-, -mies ’férfi’, -herra ’úr’), illetve a -tar/-tär képző, pl. naiskirjailija ’női író’, esi- mies ’vezető, főnök’ (esi ’első-, elő-’), kuningas ’király’ – kuningatar ’ki- rálynő’. Ugyanakkor az utóbbi évtizedekben a gyakori -mies ’férfi’ utótagú foglalkozásneveket igyekeznek nemsemlegessé tenni, pl. vartiomies ’őr’ (szó szerint: ’őrség + férfi’) > vartija ’őr’, tullimies ’vámhivatalnok’ (szó szerint: ’vám + férfi’) > tullivirkailija ’vám + hivatalnok’ (Huszár 2009: 36; Maticsák 2001: 86–87, Tiililä 1994: 18). Vajon ezek a lexikai eszközök hogyan változnak az évtizedek, évszázadok során? Milyen divatok jellemzők a nemek kifejezését illetően? Mikor jelenik meg egy-egy elem? Mikor tűnik el és miért? Tanulmányomban ezekre a kér- désekre keresem a választ. A kutatás alapját Lukács evangéliuma finn fordí- tásának négy változata képezi. Ennek alapján bemutatom azokat a szavakat, amelyeknek a fordítása az elmúlt közel 400 év során „nemváltáson” esett át, azaz megjelent, vagy épp ellenkezőleg, eltűnt a természetes nemre utaló lexi- kai/grammatikai elem. Ezt követően a megfigyelt változások alapján csopor- tosítom ezeket a szavakat, majd ismertetem az egyes típusokra jellemző tu- lajdonságokat és a nyelvtörténeti változásokat. 5 BAKSA ALEXANDRA 2. A vizsgált bibliafordítások A bibliafordítások kiválasztása során fontos szempont volt, hogy hivata- los, az evangélikus egyház által jóváhagyott fordításokat vizsgáljak, amelye- ket minél hosszabb ideig használtak, minél alaposabban lefedve az első for- dítás megjelenése óta napjainkig eltelt időszakot. Az általam vizsgált első fordítás az 1642-ben megjelent első teljes finn nyelvű Biblia volt (Biblia. Se on Coco Pyhä Raamattu Suomexi [A teljes Szent Biblia finnül]). Ugyan már korábban is fordították részleteit (Mikael Agricola már 1548-ban elkészítette az Újszövetség fordítását, majd nekikez- dett az Ószövetségnek is, azonban 1557-es váratlan halála miatt nem tudta azt befejezni), ám végül csak az Eskil Petraeus vezette fordítói bizottságnak sikerült a teljes fordítást elkészítenie. A bizottság mind Agricola, mind a ko- rábbi, 1602-ben IX. Károly által összehívott, Eerik Sorolainen vezette, ám eredménytelen bizottság fordításait felhasználta. Céljuk az volt, hogy a fordí- tás egy olyan „tiszta” finn nyelven készüljön el, amelyet egész Finnország- ban értenek, s mentes a nyilvánvalóan idegen elemektől, amelyek még gyako- riak voltak Agricola fordításaiban (Egey 2019: 38–50; Ikola 1984: 111–138; Laine 1997: 54–59; Lehikoinen – Kiuru 2009: 20–24). A általam vizsgált második fordítás (amely valójában időrendben a negye- dik) 1776-ban látott napvilágot. Mivel a finn nyelv jelentős fejlődésen ment keresztül a 17. és 18. században, szükségessé vált a korábbi fordítások kor- rekciója. Ez a változat nagyrészt az 1642-est veszi alapul, annak javított, ak- tualizált változata. A javítást Antti Lizelius finn plébános végezte, elsősorban a fordítási hibákra, illetve a helyesírásra koncentrálva (pl. a [k] jelölése k-val c helyett: cuin > kuin). Ez a Vanha kirkkoraamattu [Régi egyházi Biblia] néven ismert munka az egyik legjelentősebb bibliafordítás, több mint 150 évig volt használatban az evangélikus egyház hivatalos Bibliájaként (Ikola 1984: 111–138; Lehikoinen – Kiuru 2009: 20–24). Noha már az 1860-as években elkezdték szükségét érezni a Biblia megújí- tásának, a következő hivatalos fordítások csak közel 80 évvel később jelen- tek meg: 1933-ban az Ószövetség, majd 1938-ban az Újszövetség. A fordítás során azt az elvet tartották szem előtt, hogy a Biblia nyelvezete és stílusa ön- álló „műfajjá” vált, így fontos a megőrzése. Ez azt eredményezte, hogy sok helyen törekedtek a korábban használt mondatszerkezetek, kifejezések meg- tartására, annak ellenére, hogy ezek már a fordítás megjelenésekor is régies- nek számítottak (Lehikoinen – Kiuru 2009: 20–24). Az általam vizsgált utolsó fordítás, a mai napig használatban lévő Pyhä Raamattu [Szent Biblia] 1992-ben jelent meg. Az új verzió célja az volt, hogy tartalmában a lehető leginkább megőrizze az eredeti szöveget, ugyanakkor a nyelve teljesen hétköznapi, vi- lágos és érthető legyen minden finn ajkú számára (Lehikoinen – Kiuru 2009: 20–24). 3. Bureau of Insular Affairs at the Lou­ isiana Purchase Exposition, held at St. Louis, Missouri, during the summer and fall of 1904, was a considerable collection of fishes from the Philippine Islands. This collection had been made under the direction of the Philippine government for the specific purpose mentioned. At the close of the exposition the authorities turned the entire collection over.to the U. S. Bureau of Fisheries for study and report. The localities represented in the collection are as follows: San Fabian, Pangasinan, Luzon.~San Fabian is situated on the Gulf of Lin­ gayen, about 100 miles north of Manila. The collection from this place was made by Mr. C. L. Hall and is a-large and important one. Bacon, Sorsoqon, Luzon.-Sorsogon is the most southern province of Luzon. Bacon is situated in the northern part of the province, on Albay Inlet, in approxi- mately latitude 130 3' north and longitude 1240 east. Bulan, Sorsogon, Luzon.-Bulan is on the west coast of Sorsogon, near the southern end of the province, approximately in latitude 120 38' north, longitude 1230 22' east. The collections from Bacon and Bulan are more extensive than any of the others.

Hays Parks** In February 2002, newspapers in the United States and United Kingdom published complaints by some nongovernmental organizations ("NGOs") about US and other Coalition special operations forces operating in Afghanistan in "civilian clothing."' The reports sparked debate within the NGO community and among military judge advocates about the legality of such actions.2 At the US Special Operations Command ("USSOCOM") annual Legal Conference, May 13-17, 2002, the judge advocate debate became intense.
