GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE AREA The length of the Latvian coastline along the Baltic proper and the Gulf of Riga is 496 km. Circa 123 km of the coastline is affected by erosion. The case area ‘Gulf of Riga’ focuses on coastal development within the Riga metropolitan area, which includes the coastal zone of two urban municipalities (pilsetas) – Riga and Jurmala (Figure 1). Riga is the capital city of Latvia. It is located along the lower stream and the mouth of the Daugava river. Its several districts (Bulli, Daugavgriva, Bolderaja, Vecdaugava, Mangali and Vecaki) lie in the deltas of Daugava and Lielupe rivers and on the Gulf of Riga coast. Jurmala municipality is adjacent to Riga from the west. It stretches ca. 30 km along the Gulf of Riga.     THE SACRED LAKES OF THE DVINA REGION (NORTHWEST BELARUS) ULADZIMER LOBACH BALTICA 15 BALTICA Abstract The subject of research is the sacral geography of the Dvina region (in northwest Belarus), the sacred lakes situated in this region, and place-legends about vanished churches relating to these lakes. The author bases his research on the analytical method, and interprets folkloric sources, historical facts and data collected during ethnographic field trips. The main con- clusion of the article attests to the fact that place-legends about a vanished church (they relate to the majority of the lakes) ARCHAEOLOGIA indicate the sacrality of these bodies of water. In the past, sacrality might have contained two closely interrelated planes: an archaic one, which originated from pre-Christian times, and that of the Early Middle Ages, related to the baptism of the people of the Duchy of Polotsk. The study was carried out in the framework of the Applied Research Programme financed by the Commission of the European Communities PHARE Programme, co-ordinated by the Danube Programme Co-ordination Unit (PCU) in Vienna, in connection with the PHARE Regional Environmental Programme. Phosphorus is the nutrient which most often limits growth in freshwater systems. To reduce the load of phosphorus several abatement measures are available. Two types of measures were analysed in the present study: introduction of P-reduced/P-free detergents and P-removal from waste waters. The overall objective of the Project was to support the riparian countries in the Danube Basin to eliminate phosphorous from detergents as soon as technically possible and economically and environmentally justified. The scenarios for P-removal, the environmental effects of substitutes of P and other surfactants and the proposal for the Danube Action Programme for P-reduced - P/free Detergents will be discussed.     01 OCTOBER 2011 CEH CODE LIST FOR RECORDING THE MACROINVERTEBRATES IN FRESH WATER IN THE BRITISH ISLES CYNTHIA DAVIES AND FRANÇOIS EDWARDS CEH Code List For Recording The Macroinvertebrates In Fresh Water In The British Isles October 2011 Report compiled by Cynthia Davies and François Edwards Centre for Ecology & Hydrology Maclean Building Benson Lane Crowmarsh Gifford, Wallingford Oxfordshire, OX10 8BB United Kingdom Purpose The purpose of this Coded List is to provide a standard set of names and identifying codes for freshwater macroinvertebrates in the British Isles. These codes are used in the CEH databases and by the water industry and academic and commercial organisations. It is intended that, by making the list as widely available as possible, the ease of data exchange throughout the aquatic science community can be improved. The list includes full listings of the aquatic invertebrates living in, or closely associated with, freshwaters in the British Isles. The list includes taxa that have historically been found in Britain but which have become extinct in recent times. Also included are names and codes for ‘artificial’ taxa (aggregates of taxa which are difficult to split) and for composite families used in calculation of certain water quality indices such as BMWP and AWIC scores. Current status The list has evolved from the checklist* produced originally by Peter Maitland (then of the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology) (Maitland, 1977) and subsequently revised by Mike Furse (Centre for Ecology & Hydrology), Ian McDonald (Thames Water Authority) and Bob Abel (Department of the Environment). That list was subject to regular revisions with financial support from the Environment Agency.

To create the Free Economic Zone “Vitebsk” for the period of 30 years of the total area of 2186,1546 ha within the boundaries according to Annex. 2. To establish that: 2.1. The Free Economic Zone “Vitebsk” (hereinafter – the FEZ "Vitebsk") is a complex zone; 2.2. financing of the development of the FEZ "Vitebsk", including industrial, engineering, transport and other infrastructure along with maintenance of the Administration of the FEZ "Vitebsk" and other expenses stipulated by the legislations for ensuring functioning of the zone, is carried out at the account of the means of the republic budget and the development fund of the FEZ "Vitebsk"; 2.3. The development fund of the FEZ "Vitebsk" is formed at the account of rent payments for the land and property, which are in operative administration of the Administration of the FEZ "Vitebsk», as well as from receipts in accordance with the contracts on activity conditions of economic entities in the territory of the zone.     LITHUANIAN HISTORICAL STUDIES 21 2017 ISSN 1392-2343 PP. 1–30 THE MODERNISATION OF THE COURT SYSTEM IN THE GRAND DUCHY OF LITHUANIA: CHANGES TO THE ORGANISATION OF THE LOCAL DISTRICT COURTS AND REGULATION OF JUDGES’ DUTIES IN 1764–1793 Ramunė Šmigelskytė-Stukienė (Lithuanian Institute of History) ABSTRACT In the mid-18th century, with the spread of the ideas of the Enlightenment, fundamental reforms of the state’s governance were introduced in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Part of the state’s modernisation concerned the reform of the court system, considered by 18th-century politi- cal theorists to be one of the composite branches of the state administration (alongside the treasury, the police and the army). During the reign of Stanislas Augustus Poniatowski, the work of the courts of first instance underwent reform on several occasions in Poland and Lithuania: with the passing of laws in 1764, 1792 and 1793 on the structure and organisation of the activities of the castle and land courts, the existing court system was changed, as was the procedure for electing judges, also defining the scope of competency of the courts, regulating court activities and the duties of judges, introducing new requirements for the handling of court procedural documents, and the calculation of judges’ working hours. During the course of the introduction of these reforms, principles reflecting the administrative ideas of the Enlighten- ment were gradually entrenched in the court system of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which concerned the election of judges and other court of- ficials, the acceptance of collegial decisions, the elimination of the influence of any blood and marital ties, and the principles for remuneration, seeking to introduce stricter requirements for the qualification of judges.
