The questioned political projection of nationalism1 Albert Moncusí Ferré UNIVERSITAT DE VALÈNCIA [email protected] ORCID: 0000-0003-2604-4098 Received: 24/04/2016 Accepted: 03/06/2016 ABSTRACT This article deals with the validity of Anderson’s definition of imagined communities and the future of imagination typical of nationalism. It is based on bibliographic review and research on the case of Cerdanya. Three questions of Anderson’s definition are revised: the limitation of the nation, its supposedly inherent sovereignty and the sense of community among unknown people. In this last point, the text focuses also on the consequences that imagined community is embodied for known people every day. It concludes that the production of local identities and dynamics in global, local and regional level represents a challenge for the political projection of imagined communities. Nevertheless, that production is not absolutely questioned. Denationalisation dynamics are produced in sovereignty and delimitation becomes more porous but it carries on the cultural production of community limits by education, army and communications. In addition, some global alternatives to national communities arise, but the nationalist grammar remains intact as a base of community categories and identifications. Thus, some religious places have ended up becoming a multifunctional and multifaceted element, a meeting point for tourists and the local population.     European Journal of Sustainable Development (2016), 5, 3, 489-504 ISSN: 2239-5938 Doi: 10.14207/ejsd.2016.v5n3p489 Determinants of waste generation per capita in Catalonia (North-eastern Spain): the role of seasonal population Òscar Saladié1 Abstract Seasonal population is not taken into account in waste management policies and regional differences in waste generation per capita are magnified. Here I analyze the differences among the Catalan counties (North-eastern Spain) and I compare the results if seasonal population is added or not to the resident people. Waste generation per capita in tourist areas is overestimated and actually the differences among the counties are lower than those indicated in the official data. Only reliable data will allow determining the reasons of differences in waste generation per capita and stablishing more precise objectives in waste management policies. There is a positive correlation between municipal waste generation per capita and the services sector’s contribution to GDP, a negative correlation with the percentage of population over 64 and no correlation with income per capita. Finally, taking into account territorial factors, the lowest waste generation per capita corresponds to counties with very low population densities located in inland Catalonia. Introduction There are broad typologies of waste, all with varying behaviour related to environmental agents, potential evolution over time and impacts on environment and human health. B) DESCRIPCIÓN DEL PRODUCTO B1) Definición Aceite de oliva virgen extra obtenido del fruto de Olea Europea L, de la variedad principal Empeltre o la mezcla de la variedad Empeltre y las variedades secundarias Arbequina, Morruda y Farga, por procedimientos mecánicos o por otros medios físicos que no produzcan alteración del aceite, conservando el sabor, aroma y características del fruto del que procede. La Empeltre es la variedad principal debido a que predomina en la zona de producción. B2) Descripción de las variedades Variedad Empeltre: El árbol de la variedad Empeltre es vigoroso, de gran desarrollo, con tendencia a la verticalidad. Hojas de forma elíptico-lanceolada o elíptico-espatulada, con una relación L/A corta y ancha. El anverso es de color verde muy oscuro, con el dorso gris-plateado y un nervio verdoso muy prominente. Las inflorescencias se encuentran a lo largo de todo el ramo, y se cree que es una variedad parcialmente autofértil. Los frutos normalmente se encuentran en la parte interna del árbol aislados y poco visibles desde el exterior. Este fruto tiene un pedúnculo largo, es de tamaño medio, de forma alargada, asimétrico, ligeramente abombado por el dorso en el tercio inferior, y plano en el tercio opuesto.

Moreover, we should say that the development of Catalan geography follows the same ups and downs of the Catalan national movement over the last century, sometimes becoming the centre of the nationalist discourse with geographical issues such as territorial organization or regional knowledge. Therefore, we can distinguish three extensive historical periods in this evolution. In the first place, the origins and the first developments that took place between 1875 and 1939. This historical period starts with the monarchic restoration after the First Spanish Republic, and ends with the Spanish Civil war that concluded the Second Republican period.
