Binkley® Series by Cush RFQ Guide Rev 0, Jan 2017 Fixed Frame Mechanical Suspension Numerous configurations and mounting styles require us to offer this order guide for our Cush Binkley® Series fixed frame models. Please refer to Cush model drawings for installation notes, configuration, and service parts. Cush® can make a custom configuration for you if not shown in this guide. Binkley® Mechanical Suspension Features Industry standard “Will Fit” service parts. Replaceable wear pads in hangers for prolonged service life. Eccentric axle alignment replaces service laden adjustable torque arms. Cush Shear-Tite™ torque control fasteners at torque arms & rockers ease installation & service. Binkley® Series has optimized fabrications made from 80KSI steel for durability and light weight. Binkley® RideMax™ for the industries best ride quality in the market! The Binkley® series is rated up to 25,000 lbs. GAWR with proper springs, axles, and brake selection. o The Binkley® Standard (S) model is designed to be an industry leader for On-Highway applications: durable, light weight, with value added features and options: Container Chassis, Gravel, Dump, Belly Dump, Rear Dump, Livestock, Grain, Platform, Van, Lt Wt Utility, Tag & Pindle. o The Binkley® Heavy Duty (H) model is designed with thicker gage hangers and parts to be an industry leader for Off-Highway applications: Lowboy, Oil-Field, Logging, Tanker, Chip Van, HD Drop-deck & Flatbed. P/N Suspension Duty (Up to 25K with proper spring selection) S = Binkley Standard, Mostly On-Highway (Features light weight front and rear hangers, replaceable hanger wear pads.) H = Binkley HD, Off-Highway (Features heavy duty hangers, replaceable hanger wear pads.) Axle Quantity Your trailer application may require a single or multiple axle configuration. To reconfigure from a single or tandem kit an expansion Multiple Axle Configurator (MAC) kit can be added. P/N Axle Quantity 1 = Single Axle Configuration 2 = Tandem Axle Configuration 3 = Tri-Axle Axle Configuration 4 = MAC Kit (Axle add-on kit) pg. 3 Axle Spacing Your trailer application will determine the axle spacing needed. The standard axle spacing is 49”, axle spacing wider than 49” will require a special length rocker or custom configuration. P/N Axle Spacing A = Single Axle Standard Setting C = 42.5" Axle Centers (12K Lt Wt Special Spring) E = 49" Axle Centers (11.75” long rocker) SHOWN H = 54.5" Axle Centers (17.25” long rocker) J = 60" Axle Centers (22.75” long rocker) Axle Connection Configuration Your trailer application will often determine what height of suspension you need to fit between the bottom of the trailer frame and the center of the axle (Suspension RIDE HEIGHT, RH). The suspension Ride Height required will then determine if your application is tall or short application. A tall application will require an Overslung, or TopMount type typically used on Flatbed or Van trailers. A short application will require an Underslung, or Low-Mount type typically used on Drop-Deck or Lowboy trailers. The axle connection brackets are also dependent on the size of the axle. A standard axle is 5.0” round diameter and a light weight axle can be 5.75” or 6.0” round diameter with a thinner wall to reduce weight at the same strength as a 5.0” round. Overslung Axle Connection Underslung Axle Connection “No Catch” bottom spring seat protects u-bolts better than others and increases under ground clearance. These hangers are offered in both the Binkley® S and the Binkley® HD style units. Per your spring choice the spring seat height (SS) will be shown in the chart for the desired ride height. The spring seat connects the axle to the springs and the suspension torque arms. Spring seats need to be chosen for ride height and axle diameter fit-up. A standard axle is 5.0” round diameter and a light weight axle can be 5.75” or 6.0” round diameter with a thinner wall to reduce weight at the same strength as a 5.0” round. There are several springs to choose from for desired capacity and ride quality. Please review your ride height and spring requirements. Customers can provide their own leaf springs but we need to know what spring is being used so that we can verify the application use.
