Vs Onehunga Sports VS ONEHUNGA SPORTS Lotto Northern Premier Division 4 May 2013 2.45pm Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 I missed last week’s game against Birkenhead but kept in touch by the marvels of texting and phone calls. By all accounts a great improvement. Please to see we were able to hold for 50 minutes. We will have to continue this form against today’s opponents Onehunga Sports who come to us with 2 wins a draw and one loss. Lets hope with the support from the grandstand we can bring in our first points. To Gordon, Steve and Anja keep up the good work with the reserve team. Great to see the improvement and results your team is achieving after the struggle of the last few years. To the ladies team I am looking forward to tonight’s social. Those of you who haven’t got tickets, ask the ladies. The socials are very memorable. The club raffle is our main means of fundraising. It will be out shortly. Look out for the tickets. Again this year we have great support from our sponsors and our members working to make it happen. Top prize is a 60 inch television. See you on the sideline. Come and have a chat. I’m always willing to listen and chew over any new ideas for improvement. To all other club players and members young and old, enjoy your day. Be there for the club draw. Cheers Kerry Bevan Prizes include 60” Panasonic Television Paint Package Mobile Phones Electronic Devices And many more Tickets will go on sale shortly Reserve Coaches Comments Hi and welcome to all Onehunga Sports players and supporters. This is going to be a crucial match for us if we are to stay with the frontrunners of the competition and with them being just below us but on the same number of points, we need to make sure we can take the three points today. Funnily enough, this is what I told the players before last weekends game against Birkenhead and we forgot to show up, especially in the first half. Even though we went into half time 1-0 down, we had the favoured conditions in the second half and could have expected to get back into the game. This wasn't to be the case as Birkenhead proceeded to put in another 3 goals and it wasn't until the 85th and 89th minute where we managed to put 2 past former Manurewa goalkeeper Louie Caunter finishing the game 4-2 down. Louie did make 2 outstanding saves to keep us out of the game earlier. Overall, it was a lacklustre performance by our side and Birkenhead did deserve the 3 points. We will really need to step it up today if we want to have a chance at finishing near the top of the league. Good luck to all Manurewa sides this weekend and especially to the first team as they seek to get their first points of the season. They have had an encouraging start to the season and find themselves in a top four spot coming into this weekends round of matches. Our lads will have to be prepared to fight and battle for every ball if we are to get anything from this match. Our last two matches have seen us suffer two poor losses. The 7-0 loss to Three Kings on our home ground is totally unacceptable. Our last match away to Birkenhead saw our best 45 minutes of the season. But again going down to 10 men we fell off the pace and conceded sloppy goals in the second half. We need to stop using the excuses of having an inexperienced young squad and show a little more desperation and intelligence if we are to turn around our season and start picking up points. We need to put in a good shift today to put these performances behind us and redeem a little bit of pride. The squad appreciates the support that we are receiving from our loyal club members and today we hope to put in a performance that befits this support. Our Assyrian star side got there first win last week and it was a good one with a 7-0 win over Mangere and speaking to Ash he was a much happier manager than the week before when they went down to Western Springs 4-2 in the wet, which Ash puts down to the loss as the his boys couldn't pass a ball with 2 inch's of water on the pitch. This week they have a local derby against Papatoetoe. The Div 3 side are yet to win a game but considering they have only been together for 5 weeks things are slowly coming together. Last week they had a 4-2 loss to Western Springs. If the boys can stop leaking goals they have the strike power to score goals. This week they have a bye. The over 30s are also yet to win but if anything is go by there last game where they lost 4-2 but had at least 6 good chances to score the boys are looking forward to this weeks game against Ellerslie. The boys just need to get there shots on target and be a bit more tight in defence and there results will come. Last week they had a bye to rest there old joints and body. Our under 19s have had 2 losses in the last 2 weeks but Brian was happy with the boys even though they lost there was patches in both games that gave him plenty to be encouraged about. If they can do a 90 min performance the results will come as well. This week they play Waitakere City and they will be looking for a win as they haven't won a game.

Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 www.manurewaafc.org.nz Welcome to the first home game of the season at Memorial Park. The top two sides started last week with a loss to Bay Olympic for our Premier side—they now know what's needed. Well done to the Reserves for their first win. This week we welcome Birkenhead's two top sides and look forward to hosting them at the park today. Today we see the changes our club administration has been working on with the return to the club of our small whites who have been based at Pullman Park Papakura for the last few years as part of the whole of football plan. To Kieran and Todd thanks for your efforts in making this happen. It's now the clubs responsibility to make it work. On the other side we start the season with a club breakfast which is quite fitting as we welcome on board the Wiri Licencing Trust as the clubs first team sponsor for the 2017 season. Although they are long time supporters of the club, it is great to see them become sponsors again. We look forward to a long term arrangement which benefits both The Trust, Club and the community. Today with our Premier and Reserve team players here please take the time to have a chat and get to know them. Also coaches introduce them to your team members.

That’s the only female match scheduled for Sunday due to the weekend earlier being set aside for the ASB Women’s Knockout Cup and it’s a fitting encounter to take centre stage. Glenfield are one of four sides in the hunt for the title and a win would put them top on goal difference. In the men’s Premier League, Eastern Suburbs can take another step towards the title with a victory over Birkenhead United while North Shore United’s hosting of Ellerslie is the highlight of Division One. The game of greatest consequence in Division Two is the southern derby between Papatoetoe and Papakura City, who both need the points for contrasting reasons – Papatoetoe to boost their fight against relegation and Papakura to strengthen their title charge.

To tie in with this historic milestone, the Lotto NRFL will have a new look and feel with the introduction of a logo and further branding, including social media and this weekly programme, for one of the country’s leading club-based competitions. The elements used within the logo refer to various features of the different regions. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 To all returning players, members and new comers welcome to the 2013 season and also our visitors. This season has brought its challenges with coaches departing and the drought. To all involved in this process, I thank you all for the hours spent and the battles fought. On the high side we have Hoani Edwards and Nathan Christie in charge of the premier team. We wish them the best and thank them for the effort they have put in with the late season appointment. Welcome back Adrian Stewart as manager of the team. We welcome Central United to our ground today. They will know that they have been to Memorial Park. Enjoy the support our club has. To control board, senior, youth and junior committees, thank you for your efforts to this point, well done. To the people that enjoyed the Club Annual Breakfast, please pass on to others so next year can be bigger and better. See you all around the park and in the stand. To the retiring President Alex Ogilvy, thank you very much for your many years of dedicated support. To the Premier Team, good luck and enjoy today’s game. Kerry Bevan Obituary Before kick off today, we will be observing a minutes silence in memory of Jane Farrelly, beloved wife and mother of Ian, Ben and Nick.
