1St August 2009 Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O VS AFF NRFL Reserves - 12.30pm Lotto Northern League Premier Division– 1.00pm 1st August 2009 Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 www.manurewaafc.org.nz Presidents Report I have not yet come down from the high I reached last Saturday. What a terrific result for the club. I don’t know whether it was my Chatham Cup story that I told to the team on Thursday night or not, but the boys rose to the occasion and turned on a mighty game. They could have put Nelson away in the first twenty minutes with many attempts on goal, just missing, but then let nelson back into the game, conceded a goal, and then had to come from behind. When T-bags slotted home that excellent third goal the euphoria was beyond comprehension. All the team played well. In the change room after the game i said that they all deserved to be the player of the day and I was happy to see that Mark agreed and gave the award to them all. The reserves played away against Central at Kiwitea Street, and as I didn’t see their game I cannot comment. This week we play host to the teams from the Onehunga Sports Club and we extend a warm welcome to them and hope they enjoy our hospitality. Alex Ogilvy Supporters Chatham Cup Semi Finals! Just a note to let you know what is going on with our Chatham Cup trip to Wellington! There is a supporter’s deal that you can get in on through Flight Centre in Manukau City. You will need to speak to Angelina Cunningham (Aaron Lawrence’s partner (Rowdie)) who will get you the deal that is going on. You can contact her on ph 263 6700 or email [email protected] or call into the shop. It is opposite the seafood market by Foodtown in the Westfield mall. Flight centre have generously given us $50 off each person’s flights when booking through Angelina. It involves flights down to Wellington on the Saturday just after lunch time, and of course flights home at around 7pm on Sunday night. It also includes a bus to and from the airport and to and from the game, as well as accommodation at the Ibis. This is estimated to be at around $315 per person (but could be more depending on the deal with jet star on the day – it is not expected to fluxuate too much – the sooner you get in the better!) The team is staying at different accommodation so we do not disturb their pre game work and be “ferocious and hostile” as the Nelson Mail states us to be. But flights will be the same. If you wish to have flights arriving earlier on the Saturday or leave later on the Sunday this can also be arranged with Angelina and you will still receive the bus and accommodation package. Hope to have as many people there as possible! The ladies teams are at it again! Promised to be an awesome night! We are fundraising for the club (not the ladies) and would love to see you all there! Tickets selling fast! Posters placed around the club- rooms. See any of the ladies to purchase tickets or Crystal Hill/Tania Bevan for more details! If you have any news or any photos you would like put into the programme please email to [email protected] with a name and brief description. Reserve Coaches Comments Hello to Ross and his Onehunga sports side, also hello to our supporters. Last week we had 2 games our first against Central at Kiwitea st. On a very nice pitch and nice weather we lost the game 2-5. We started the game a bit slower than we would of liked with central having most of the play in the first 10 mins, but when we settled down we started to get a grip of the game and we got the first goal coming from Jason with a nice through ball of Matt. After the goal I was disappointed that we conceded the equalizer so quickly. When half time came we were happy with the way we were playing there was just a couple of minor things that we needed to concen- trate on, I told the boys during half time that we would get more chances we just needed to be patience and disciplined at the back. But as our season has gone this year we turned off at the start of 2nd half and we conceded 3 goals in the space of about 10mins and from then on we were chasing the game. Our commitment showed and we never gave up and got our 2nd goal from Arib. We carried on trying to get another couple of goals but couldn't find the back of the net, and as we were chasing the game some holes opened up and we conceded the 5th. I was pleased with 75 mins of the game and if we can put a 90min perform- ance I know we will get a win. Our player of the day was Clayton with a super per- formance in goal. Our 2nd game was supposed to be against Otahuhu in the Counties Manukau cup, but they pulled out on Sat so we go into the quarter finals without playing a game in the cup. I would like to thank Chris's mum (Linda) for doing the strip the last couple of weeks. Lastly, this week is Yash's last game before he heads of to the Uk, we would like to wish him all the best on his travels. So thanks for you services this year you will be missed in the remainder of the season. Sports’ come to us today after an important win over Metro to get them away from the bottom. Last week’s Chatham Cup quarter final had everything that is great about a cup tie. Goals, drama, cards, great crowd and fine weather! The team and management are thrilled at gaining a semi final spot and the realisation that we are a game away from the final is very exciting. The game itself started well for us with two chances in the first ten minutes created but not converted. The game settled down with both teams sharing possession and trying to gain advantage. Some marginal referee decisions were adding to the flavour and too many yellow cards given when a quiet word for the first offence would have been more appropriate. Nelson was causing problems with fifteen minutes of the first half remaining and some desperate defending kept them scoreless until halftime. The halftime talk was all about keeping to our game plan chances will come and the game will turn. After fifteen minutes the game did change but the wrong way with Nelson scoring with a volley from a left wing cross. The next fifteen minutes we tried hard to get the equaliser but were struggling to break down their resolute defence. Just when things were looking glum, Graham played a ball into Brad who turned his defender inside the penalty area and crossed to Stu, who chested down and volleyed goalward, only to be blocked by a defender with his arm. So up stepped Stu to take the penalty and after a barrage of abuse from the keeper calmly slotted home the equaliser (so I’m told). We then with huge crowd support pushed on for the winner and forced two corners straight away which were cleared and then on the break Nelson nearly stole the winner with Jono having to clear off the line and the ball rebounding off the striker into Ally’s arms. With ninety minutes up and myself thinking about drumming up some words of wisdom for extra-time Dave from left fullback pushed forward with the ball and let fly from thirty metres (he has possibly said longer) and we all watched as it bulleted into the top corner of the net. The bench and crowd erupted but we had to endure many minutes of added time. After five more minutes Theara added the icing on with a low drive just inside the near post to sew it up. So the semi final beckons for us and news just in puts us up away (how dare they) against Wellington Olympic. Not for the first time this year we have seen an absolute thriller go to the wire and the noise and roar from the grandstand was a huge boost for the team.

We Are North Shore SATURDAY 13th MAY 2017 – KICK OFF 2PM CHATHAM CUP – RD1 OFFICIAL MATCH DAY PROGRAMME OPPOSITION: METRO FC HEAD COACH– Tom Speers Good afternoon and welcome back to the the Hill for the 1st round of the Chatham Cup. I would like to welcome Mike and his Metro team here today, I expect it to be a lot tighter game than when they visited in the first game of season and I'm sure they will be looking to do a lot better than the 7-0 they experienced here that day. I love being part of the Cup and as there is only one cup competition in NZ I'm looking forward to hopefully going far. This club has a rich history in this cup, winning it 6 times, the last being in 1986, so fingers crossed we can progress into the later rounds of the competition and be there or there about towards the end. You can see the success we have had in this competition all over the clubhouse walls and talking with former players who have won it, we know how important it is to the club that we represent the club properly, so unlike the rumours I have been hearing, we will be playing a full strength squad and hoping every club in this competition do the same, resting players when you only have 1 game a week would be disrespectful to the longest cup competition on the planet and also be quite embarrassing for the clubs that do so. I hope you have a good day and hopefully see us progress, get behind the boys and make some noise.

  • MATCH DAY PROGRAM 19 August 2017
MATCH DAY PROGRAM 19th August 2017 Photo courtesy of AT Photo UPPER HUTT CITY VS WELLINGTON UNITED MAIDSTONE PARK - KO 1:00 PM A message from Gibby . We’ve managed 3 games in 11 days which has been a tough ask for this end of the season, but what an 11 days! First up we had PNM in the Knockout Cup Quarter Final. Leading up to this game we’d won a game apiece, and drawn 1-1 so it was always going to be a tight game. These games are always tough physical battles and this was no exception. Both teams were throwing everything they had into it, which was reflected in the half time score of 0-0. The second 45 was just as tough as the first, and we managed to get on the score sheet when PNM gave the ball away in their defensive third and Lena de Ronde capitalised by driving a cross into the 6 yard box and Emma Main nipped in front of her defender to tuck the ball away. 1-0. PNM are the sort of team that never gives up, and they struck back after a ball over the top was picked up by their striker and they slotted the ball into the far post tying the game up 1-1. Cup matches need a result, and so into extra time we went. Both teams were showing the effects of a long hard tussle, but through sheer grit and determination we pushed forward, and sent a cross into the box for Lena de Ronde to pop up at the far post driving the ball into the net to take us 2-1 up.

Monday, 5 June 2017 Chatham Cup Programme – NWAFC vs NPRAFC Page 1 of 7 Welcome, It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to Alex Moore Park for this important ISPS Handa Chatham Cup match as we host New Plymouth Rangers. As the largest senior club in the Wellington region we are pleased and proud to offer footballing opportunities for players of all ages and stages on the football spectrum. The Northern Hills Pathway has been an important initiative for football development in our area. We are working together with the Onslow and North Wellington junior football clubs, Newlands and Onslow Colleges, to create a player pathway for footballers of any ability. This is one of the most significant pieces of work ever embarked upon. Although in its early stages, all 5 organisations agreeing to work together and collaborate with the aim of promoting the best interests of footballers is a worthy objective which will have positive ramifications for years to come. Our partnership with the Ngatiawa Russell Masonic Lodge and their sponsorship of our Men’s Premier team has been a very positive experience. This alliance has increased the profile of our club while also promoting the opportunity to become involved in Freemasonry. The recent announcement by Just Paterson Real Estate of their sponsorship of our Men’s Reserve and Third teams has been equally well received.

The equivalent of England's FA Cup, the trophy was gifted to the New Zealand Football Association by the crew of HMS Chatham, as a means of thanking the New Zealand public for the great goodwill shown the sailors during their time in this part of the world. It has become the most sought after honour in New Zealand soccer, with a record number of teams - 172 - entering the competition in 1991, the NZFA's centenary season. University-Mt. Wellington have won the trophy seven times, one more than both Christchurch United and North Shore United, who have reached the final on twelve occasions. Eastern Suburbs and Central United boast the next best records, with five triumphs apiece.

WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB SENIOR MATCH DAY PROGRAM Saturday 12th May 2018 www.waimakunited.org.nz Comments from the club This week our two premier teams are playing in knockout cup matches this weekend. Our Men’s CCL team are playing in round one of the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup against Coastal Spirit, beating Burnham Football Club 8 to 1 in the preliminary round. Our Women’s WPL team are up against Cashmere Technical in round one of the New Zealand Football Foundation Kate Sheppard Cup. Formally known as the Women’s Knockout Cup, the Kate Sheppard Cup was renamed on International Women’s Day. It is a club-based knockout competition, first played in 1994 as a pathway for players linking important strategic goals of New Zealand Football; ‘More Kiwis loving and playing football and our elite teams winning on the world stage’ (New Zealand Football). The announcement of the Kate Sheppard Cup was made on New Zealand’s 125th anniversary of New Zealand becoming the first self-governing country in which all women had the right to vote in parliamentary elections in 1893. Kate Sheppard was a pioneer for women and it is very fitting for the trophy to be named after her. The tagline for the competition is ‘Make a name for yourself’ recognising Sheppard’s achievements. The Kate Sheppard Cup will see regional teams kicking off against each other before it goes into national games at quarter finals. The final is played as a double header with the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup final as part of the traditional end of the New Zealand football season in September.

This week we welcome Birkenhead's two top sides and look forward to hosting them at the park today. Today we see the changes our club administration has been working on with the return to the club of our small whites who have been based at Pullman Park Papakura for the last few years as part of the whole of football plan. But as there is only one, everyone, including myself, get really up for it and that will be no different this Sunday. Against a strong team in Central, we know the big challenge that awaits us, they are essentially a national league side with some fantastic players, but on the day it is 11v11 and on our day anything can happen.
