The Park of Lake Moro is in the lower part of Vallecamonica, It includes a a huge green area in the town of and . It's divided into five main areas: Lake Moro Basin, Sorline, Luine, Castellino and Monticolo.You can see the oldest rock engravings of the Cammunian cycle (end of the upper Paleolithic, about 13000 years BC and Mesolithic) here. As for the nature the park has the highest concentration of biodiversity in Europe. This condition is possible due to the Mediterranean climate and to lake Iseo and by the glacier Adamello that is only 48 km far. They have influence local food (cheese, honey, wine, olives). Therefore the area of Soline, thanks to a special climate offers very different kinds of vegetation from the rest of Vallecamonica. In the hamlet of Capo di Lago, the new documentation centre provides to the visitors with a starting point to visit the “Sito Unesco 94”, which has 8 archaeological parks in Valcamonica, including Parco di Luine , with a variety in a huge time span (from the Paleolithic to modern age). On this hill there is one of the most beautiful rock complex in the world: 102 in Simona stone. The most important of which can be easily visited in the park. Most paintings in Luine date from the Bronze age, (in the beautiful natural area). Luine has existed and been inhabited since the Neolithic age and the Iron age (I Millenium BC): settlements common to the largest inhabited areas of Valle Camonica, which were the main links on the river . The coexistence in settlement and life makes Luine an important archaeological site. The archaeological area of “Corni Freschi”, near Monticolo, is characterized by the large sandstone boulder, which was painted with the famous composition of 9 halberds (the rock, in fact, is also known as “Rock of the Halberds”); when the rocky surface was restored in 2002 by the Department for the Archaeological Treasure in , a second engraving was found: 15 daggers ( between 20 and 25 cm long) with their blades facing down, arranged to create the scheme of the already known composition of halberds.

On the top of the hill, in 2011, a survey was carried out and revealed a small place, which is based on a big rock purposely modelled and which shows the engraving of an anthropoid illustration. This testifies the existence of a complicated settlement and the strategic importance of Monticolo since the old times. Near the hill, there is the cycle track which connects the Upper Valley to the Lake Iseo, running alongside the River Oglio. The basin of lake Moro is a natural and fascinating pearl, where you can enjoy the peace of the lake sitting on a green lawn, rent a pedal boat, go on a boat trip, having a swim, riding a horse or visiting different nearby places. The footpath “tra vigne ed ulivi” crosses the villages of Darfo Boario Terme, Angolo Terme and . Along the route round the lake, you should visit “Giorgio Gaioni observatory”. The recreation centre is in an excellent position and you can find out something more about the local flora and fauna. On summer evenings you can look at the sky through the telescope.

“AMONG VINEYARDS AND OLIVES” The trail “Among vineyards and olives” is an easy wall on the hill that overlooks Darfo Boario Terme, Angolo and Piancogno. It starts from Bessimo, near the cemetrery, but the journey can be also taken by: • from Angolo Terme, following the directions to lake Moro and passing the sanctuary of St. Silvestro and through Sorline;
