EllisDon Forms New Western Canada Civil Group Mississauga, ON, March 10, 2021— Effective immediately, EllisDon's Western Civil Group has separated out from under the Buildings Group umbrella to operate as a separate entity and region serving Alberta and British Columbia. The group will be led by Colin Hill, Vice President of Western Civil, EllisDon. Hill is a 20-year veteran in Civil construction and will work with a hand-selected team of industry experts. Over the past five years, Hill has been actively developing the Western Civil team under the Calgary Buildings Group with the intention of becoming an independent entity at the right time. "I am incredibly excited to lead our deeply talented Civil team as we take on our own area of responsibility in Western Canada. I am very proud of the Civil team we have built over the years, and our achievements as a group in a short period of time are an indication of even greater things to come," said Colin Hill, Vice President of Western Civil, EllisDon. Western Civil will focus on transit, infrastructure, environmental and small Civil projects and will operate out of EllisDon's already established hub centres in Western Canada. "Our team is focused on collaboration with the Buildings groups in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver and we commit to work collectively in these areas to deliver a broader range of construction services and market share," said Hill. Smith Family to Sell EllisDon to Employees Mississauga, ON, March 2, 2020— Today, EllisDon announced that on Friday, February 28th, a final agreement was executed under which 100% of the company's equity will be transferred to the company's employees. The Smith family shareholders, who previously held 50% ownership, have signed-off on an agreement which assures that over time, EllisDon will become entirely employee-owned. From March 1, 2020 onward, EllisDon will gradually buy out the Smith's stake in the company while the employees' ownership will steadily increase to 100% over several years. "I don't think I can overstate how momentous this agreement is in the life of EllisDon; it is one of the most important days in our history," said Geoff Smith, President and CEO, EllisDon. "I am very proud of everyone at EllisDon, past and present, for everything that has been accomplished over the past 69 years." The agreement is the result of negotiations led by EllisDon's Board of Directors Chair, Gerald Slemko, the Smith family, and representation from EllisDon's shareholder employees. EllisDon will continue to be governed by an independent Board of Directors, to whom Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Smith and the management team will report to.
