Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan forum yang memberi peluang semua pihak saling membagi pengetahuan dan gagasan. Seminar yang diselenggarakan adalah seminar nasional serial dengan penamaan Seminar Intelektual Muda. 11 April 2019 merupakan momen penting untuk mengawali penyelenggaraan Seminar Intelektual Muda #1 dengan tema : “Keberlanjutan Ruang Layak Huni Berbasis Kearifan Lokal: Inovasi Ilmu Pengetahuan, Teknologi dan Seni dalam Perencanaan dan Perancangan Lingkungan Terbangun”. Pitana 3 Abstract Gebyog is a traditional Javanese house wall made of wood with a particular pattern. The shape of Javanese houses and gebyog develop over periods of culture and government until today. The shapes of gebyog are greatly influenced by various culture, such as Hindu, Buddhist, Islamic, and Chinese. The Hindu and Buddhist influences of are evident in the shapes of the ornaments and their meanings. The Chinese influence through Islamic culture developing in the archipelago is strong, mainly in terms of the gebyog patterns, wood construction techniques, ornaments, and coloring techniques. The nuance has been felt in the era of Majapahit, Demak, Mataram and at present. The use of ganja mayangkara in Javanese houses of the Majapahit era, the use of Chinese-style gunungan ornaments at the entrance to the Sunan Giri tomb, the saka guru construction technique of Demak mosque, the Kudusnese and Jeparanese gebyog motifs, and the shape of the gebyog patangaring of the house. Religious Specificities in the Early Sultanate of Banten
Religious Specificities in the Early Sultanate of Banten (Western Java, Indonesia) Gabriel Facal Abstract: This article examines the religious specificities of Banten during the early Islamizing of the region. The main characteristics of this process reside in a link between commerce and Muslim networks, a strong cosmopolitism, a variety of the Islam practices, the large number of brotherhoods’ followers and the popularity of esoteric practices. These specificities implicate that the Islamizing of the region was very progressive within period of time and the processes of conversion also generated inter-influence with local religious practices and cosmologies. As a consequence, the widespread assertion that Banten is a bastion of religious orthodoxy and the image the region suffers today as hosting bases of rigorist movements may be nuanced by the variety of the forms that Islam took through history. The dominant media- centered perspective also eludes the fact that cohabitation between religion and ritual initiation still composes the authority structure. This article aims to contribute to the knowledge of this phenomenon. Keywords: Islam, Banten, sultanate, initiation, commerce, cosmopolitism, brotherhoods. 1 Banten is well-known by historians to have been, during the Dutch colonial period at the XIXth century, a region where the observance of religious duties, like charity (zakat) and the pilgrimage to Mecca (hajj), was stronger than elsewhere in Java1. In the Indonesian popular vision, it is also considered to have been a stronghold against the Dutch occupation, and the Bantenese have the reputation to be rougher than their neighbors, that is the Sundanese. This image is mainly linked to the extended practice of local martial arts (penca) and invulnerability (debus) which are widespread and still transmitted in a number of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). -

Abstrak Artikel ini membahas kekhasan agama di Banten pada masa awal Islamisasi di wilayah tersebut. Karakteristik utama dari proses Islamisasi Banten terletak pada hubungan antara perdagangan dengan jaringan Muslim, kosmopolitanisme yang kuat, keragaman praktek keislaman, besarnya pengikut persaudaraan dan maraknya praktik esotoris. Kekhasan ini menunjukkan bahwa proses Islamisasi Banten sangat cepat dari sisi waktu dan perpindahan agama/konversi yang terjadi merupakan hasil dari proses saling mempengaruhi antara Islam, agama lokal, dan kosmologi. Akibatnya, muncul anggapan bahwa Banten merupakan benteng ortodoksi agama. Kesan yang muncul saat ini adalah bahwa Banten sebagai basis gerakan rigoris/radikal dipengaruhi oleh bentuk-bentuk keislaman yang tumbuh dalam sejarah. Dominasi pandangan media juga menampik kenyataan bahwa persandingan antara agama dan ritual masih membentuk struktur kekuasaan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk berkontribusi dalam diskusi akademik terkait fenomena tersebut. Abstract The author examines the religious specifics of Banten during the early Islamizing of the region. 1 BAB I PENDAHULUAN A. Latar Belakang Masalah Banten merupakan salah satu bumi intelektualitas yang banyak melahirkan ulama ilmiah dan pejuang. Syekh Nawawi Al-Bantani yang berasal dari Banten, menjadi salah satu contoh teladan bagi kemajuan perkembangan gerakan keagamaan Islam di Indonesia. Keulamaan beliau sangat dihormati oleh kalangan tokoh-tokoh Islam Indonesia pada abad ke-18, tidak pelak lagi, banyak murid yang dulu berguru kepadanya menjadi tokoh yang punya pengaruh besar di nusantara. Di antara yang pernah menjadi murid beliau adalah pendiri Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) almarhum Hadraatussyekh Kyai Haji Hasyim Asy’ari. Banten tidak hanya dikenal dengan intelektualitas keulamaannya, tetapi juga dari segi pewacanaan masa lampau, daerah ini menyimpan segudang sejarah yang banyak dikaji oleh peneliti dari dalam maupun manca. Daerah yang dikenal dengan permainan tradisional debusnya ini, banyak sekali dibahas dalam literatur- literatur asing. Claude Guillot, seorang sejarawan dan arkeolog asal Prancis, tidak bisa menyembunyikan kekagumannya akan kekayaan sumber-sumber sejarah Banten, ia berujar bahwa, “... Banten adalah negeri yang kaya sekali akan sumber- sumber sejarah. As a reference, the architectural element characteristic of Wali mosque (local mosque) needs to be known, so that this paper aims to find a description of a local mosque (Wali mosque), and also description of architectural elements of non- local mosques (mosques with foreign cultural context) because one of the causes of changes in mosque architecture is cultural factors. The findings of this paper are expected to be input for further studies on the details of physical changes in the architectural elements of mosques in Indonesia. The study subjects taken were 6 Wali mosques that were widely known by the Indonesian Muslim community as Wali mosques and 6 non-local mosques that were very well known and frequently visited by Indonesian Muslim communities. Data obtained from literature studies, interviews and observations. The analysis is done by sketching from visual data, critiquing data, making interpretations, making comparisons and compiling the chronology of the findings. -

ABstract This study describes the characteristics of the royal mosques in Indonesia from the 16th century to the early 20th century through the architectural and archaeological study of the building’s components. Royal mosques are meaningful in the concept of building because they are the places for sultans and their people to pray, and these mosques are located in the capital cities of the Islamic empires that rep- resent the sultans and became the identity of the characters of the Islamic empires in the past. Through architectural and archaeological studies of several kingdom’s mosques in Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi and North Maluku, this research observes the data with the context of space (spatial) with the central government (the palace), squares, markets, tombs and other buildings of a king. In addition, this paper studied the aspects of power relations with the palace mosque as the centre of power, to reveal the power of representation in the mosque, with attention to the style of the building and ritual. The results obtained show that the royal mosques in Indonesia have special characteristics displayed in the building form and the local ritual practices that are different from non-royal mosques and the mosques outside of Indonesia as a strategy and resistance against global Islamic power relations in the past.
