Welcome to King George Sailing Club. Like all clubs and associations KGSC members gain most from club membership by making an active contribution to the functioning of the Club. You will get the most out of the club by being involved in its operation and get to know other Members for go faster sailing tips and assistance! We are run by members for members. The Club is not a commercial one and does not offer a service. In applying for membership you are agreeing to comply with all Club Rules including the completion of the required number of duties or to pay the avoidance fee.

SECTION A MEMBERSHIP TYPE (please pick one option)

Membership Category Fee Family Covers the use of all shore and water based facilities by a Member, his/her spouse and children under the age of 18 (or 25 in full time education) on 1st April of the current club year. £303 Single Covers the use of all shore and water based facilities by a Member over the age of 24 on 1st April £231 in the current club year. Senior Covers the use of all shore and water based facilities by a Member who is over the age of 60 on 1st April in the current club year. You may be asked to demonstrate your age. £130 *Young Covers the use of all shore and water based facilities by a Member who is between the ages of 18 £130 Person and 24 on 1st April in the current club year. You may be asked to demonstrate your age. New Category Junior / Covers the use of all shore and water based facilities by a Member who is under the age of 18 and Student / or in full time education on 1st April in the current club year. A letter of indemnity from the £85 parent or guardian will be required for under 18s and proof of course attendance for Students. Associate / Covers the use of all shore-based facilities only by a Member over the age of 18. £61 Rescue

SECTION B. LAUNCHING Payable by all members launching their own craft. Not payable if only using club boats / club windsurfers N.B. Launching of personal craft requires INSURANCE cover Launch fee Covers the launching of a Member’s dinghy, windsurfer(s) / paddle boards / kayaks sailed at £61 KGSC. [This does not include any storage anywhere on site] Junior / Covers the launching of a Member’s dinghy, windsurfer(s) / paddle boards / kayaks sailed at £18 Student KGSC. SECTION C. STORAGE In addition to launch fees storage fees are payable for any craft stored at KGSC N.B. Storage of personal craft at KGSC requires INSURANCE cover even if craft is not sailed. Storage locations are not transferable between members. Dinghy Covers the storage in designated location of Member’s nominated “1st boat” stored at KGSC £61 Junior / Covers the storage of a Junior / Students Member’s “1st boat” stored at KGSC Student No fees payable for Optimists. £19 Dinghy 2nd Dinghy Covers the storage of a Member’s “2nd boat” stored at KGSC. Each additional boat shall be subject to an additional fee. No Concession on “2nd boat” fees. £37 Designated windsurfing / paddle board storage subject to availability. If you have not already been Windsurfing allocated a Pod, please contact membership secretary for availability before sending payment. £61 Storage Pod

All craft must be kept only in the designated location allocated to a member. Any craft found to be stored other than in the designated location will be removed without warning and no liability will be accepted by KGVRSC for any loss or damage

In the event of my/our failing to renew my/our membership for the next subscription year, I/we undertake to remove my/our boat/s and/or equipment within 1 month of the end of the current subscription year. Failure to do so may result in the club taking further action as defined in the Club Byelaws which includes disposal of equipment.

I/we agree to comply with the Club Rules and Byelaws and the regulations made by plc and the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority. I/we undertake to park my/our vehicle(s) in the designated car park and will only drive to the dinghy park or up the ramp for the purpose of loading/unloading or access to tools and materials whilst actively in the process of maintaining my craft and will not leave my vehicle unattended outside of the car park at any time.

I/we certify that I/we can swim in light clothing and apply for membership of King George Sailing Club. The safety of any craft and its entire management including insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the owner and / or helm during storage, use, launch and recovery at all times.

Limitation of Club’s Liability Members of the club, and their guests, may use the club premises and any other facilities of the club entirely at their own risk and accept that: 1. The club will not accept liability for any damage to or loss of property belonging to members and their guests. 2. Patrol Boat cover is provided by members for members. Availability of Patrol Boat cover is subject to the availability of members and craft to provide it. 3. Any person going afloat does so entirely at their own risk and in full compliance with the Club Rules.

Risk Statement It must be recognised that sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the sport, you agree and acknowledge that: (i) You are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and you accept responsibility for exposing yourself to such inherent risk; (ii) You accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by your own negligence; (iii) You will not participate in any Club activity if you have, or develop, a medical condition that might prejudice the wellbeing of yourself or others

Insurance It is a condition of Membership that you are required to hold adequate insurance for all boats and boards brought on to KGSC premises, whether sailed or not. I/We confirm that I/We hold and will maintain, insurance to a minimum of £2m 3rd party liability cover at all times for all craft I own on KGSC premises.

Membership Duty Declaration – to 31st March 2017

The number of duties per member reflects current membership numbers consistent with the need to maintain effective and safe sailing for all members. Members are required to do duties to help run the Club. They are not optional.

All Members, including active family members aged 16 and over, are required to do a minimum of 2 Duty Days for the 2016 / 2017 season.

KGSC uses the DutyMan software to manage duties. Please discuss mid- week / out of hours / off water duties with the Vice Commodore Waterside or House Manager.
