W ith in Q in gh ai Y u shu T A P is con sid ered to b e o ne of the least develop ed an d p oorest a r e a s . T h e d istrict covers an area o f 197,0 0 0 k m ,m ore th an a q uarter o f Q ingh ai p rovin ce.
