Bába Abstract: The authors evaluated the samples collected by Marninus De Smit in 1999 at the collection site of Katavothres, on the isle of Kefalinia, Greece. Key-words: Katavothers, Greece, Marin mollusc fauna Material and methods Sample collections were carried out in a southern bay of the isle of Kefalinia, on the coast of Katavothres (09.06.1999.) For the determination of the order of families we used Poppe, G. T.–Gotto, Y. (1991–1993) Vol. I-II. For the identification of species we gave preference to the following publications: Nordsieik, F. (1968, 1969, 1972) Poppe, G. T.–Gotto, Y. (1991, 1993), D’ Angeló–Gargiullo, S. (1978) and also Ghisotti, F.–Melone, G. (1971, 1972, 1975) Results The collections yielded species from Scaphopoda, Lamellibranchiata and Gastropoda class- es. Altogether 7697 individuals belonging to 188 species were collected. (Scaphopoda: 1 family 1 species, Lamellibranchiata: 30 families 90 species 3811 specimen, Gastropoda: 42 families 188 species 7697 specimen). From the Bivalvia the Musculus laevigatus is a cir- cumpolar, the Hiatellidae: Hiatella arctica is a boreal circumpolar species. From the Gastropoda the Trochidae: Clanculus striatus, Phasianellidae: Tricolia miniata are known as belonging to the Southern Mediterranean. Most probably they spread due shipping. From most of the species encountered 1-40 individuals were found. More than 100 indi- viduals were collected from the species below: Jujubinus striatus, Gibbula philberti, Truncatella subcylindrica, Alvania consociella, Bittium latreilli, Bittium reticulatum, Cerithium alucaster, Gibberula miliaria, Granulina clandestina. Summary From the alluvial deposits on an island near Greece 11 508 individuals from 279 species of 72 families from 3 orders were encountered. -

Studi costieri - 2006 - 12: Il Quaternario della Toscana costiera Il Quaternario della Toscana costiera Giovanni Boschian 1 , Alessandro Bossio 2, Barbara Dall’Antonia 2, Renzo Mazzanti 3 1 - 2 - 3 - Riassunto Questo saggio presenta una rassegna delle conoscenze acquisite sul Quaternario della Toscana Costiera, a partire dal 1984, anno in cui fu pubblicata su questo tema la monografia di Mazzanti. Nello studio dell’Olocene ci siamo limitati alla situazione presente in Età Romana, non tanto perché considerata priva di interventi antropici, bensì in quanto la più vicina nel tempo ad uno stato del territorio non influenzato da questi ultimi. Particolare attenzione è stata posta alla precisazione dei riferimenti cronologici dei livelli delle successioni stratigrafiche marine, datati secondo i moderni criteri di biozonazione basata principalmente sulle associ- azioni a Foraminiferi planctonici ed a Nannoplancton calcareo. D’altra parte non è stato trascurato il richi- amo a fossili di altri gruppi sistematici e loro associazioni di particolare significato stratigrafico (cronologi- co e/o paleoambientale) sia per le successioni marine, sia per le continentali, né ovviamente sono state trascurate le informazioni offerte dalle determinazioni radiometriche di età. Per agevolare la lettura di questo complesso riassunto, consigliamo di consultare i riferimenti offerti nella Figura 4. Un primo ciclo sedimentario, presente solo nel Valdarno Inferiore e nel Bacino di Castiglioncello – S. For this purpose, the material collected from the area between the years 2005 and 2009, within the framework of different projects, was investigated. The investigation of the material taken from various biotopes ranging at depths between 0 and 100 m resulted in identification of 286 mollusc species and 27542 specimens belonging to them. Among the encountered species, Vitreolina cf. perminima (Jeffreys, 1883) is new record for the Turkish molluscan fauna and 18 species are being new records for the Turkish Levantine coast. A checklist of Iskenderun mollusc fauna is given based on the present study and the studies carried out beforehand, and a total of 424 moluscan species are known to be distributed in Iskenderun Bay. Nr. 64:149-181 Molluscs of Albania 2014: List of species and biogeographical data Dhimitër Dhora University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi”, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Department of Biology - Chemistry ABSTRACT 782 mollusc species found inside the terrestrial and water territor of Albania, of whiches 421 are marine, 103 freshwater and 258 terrestrial species, are presented. List of species is adjourned with data from uptodays publications. 181 species are found for the first time for Albania by Dh. Dhora, while 99 of 278 species, forecated as possible for Albania by Dh. Dhora, are till today found by different authors. 39 endemic and 83 subendemic non-marine species are marked in list. Also are marked 52 alien species of Europe found in Albania, from whiches 5 are alien invasive marine species. Molusqet e Shqipërisë 2014: Lista e specieve dhe të dhëna biogjeografike PËRMBLEDHJE Në këtë artikull paraqiten 782 specie molusqesh të gjetura brenda territorit tokësor dhe ujor të Shqipërisë, prej të cilëve 421 janë specie detare, 103 të ujërave të ëmbël dhe 258 të tokës. Lista e specieve është azhurnuar me të dhëna nga publikimet e derisotme. 181 specie janë gjetur për herë të parë për Shqipërinë nga Dh. Dhora, ndërsa 99 prej 278 specieve, të parashikuara si të mundshme për Shqipërinë nga Dh. Dhora, janë gjetur deri sot nga autorë të ndryshëm. Në listë janë shënuar 39 specie endemike dhe 83 specie subendemike të ujërave të ëmbëla dhe të tokës. Janë shënuar gjithashtu 52 specie aliene të Evropës të gjetura në Shqipëri, prej të cilëve 5 janë specie detare aliene invazive. -

PALLIDULA Page 3 SHELLING IN THE ALGARVE by Graham Saunders I first visited the Algarve in 1978, again in 1997 and most recently for a week at the end of May 2004, each time staying in more or less the same place, although it has changed out of recognition. Comparisons are difficult. I did not find one of the unique sites and a couple of formerly abundant species are now hard to find. I suspect that the vast colony of Conus mediterraneus Hwass, 1792, which I once saw on a tidal mud flat behind Faro Airport may still exist if one can actually find it, but no trace of the species was seen during recent searches. There are still enough fresh dead examples of Mesalia brevialis (Lamarck, 1822) to demonstrate its continued survival in the area. I suspect both are pocket populations seeded by eggs carried on the feet of wading birds. The habitat is not typical for Conus mediterraneus Hwass, 1792, but the species is so variable that these are probably the same. I am less certain about the Mesalia as they are smaller and more delicate than the West African population. DNA and life cycle comparison would clarify their status. Debate amongst "experts" is not conclusive. I saw no trace of Littorinidae of any species during the recent visit. -
