G2C was created to address the challenges experienced by international donors when supporting social initiatives in Colombia. Our primary goal is to optimize the social impact of private and institutional donors’ investments in the social sector. We work to increase the flow of international donations by providing an effective and independent platform through which all types of donors can transparently channel their funds. Through our innovative social model, G2C has been able to impact around 300,000 direct beneficiaries that have been mainly disabled, displaced and demobilized populations, 278 projects and mobilized $22 M USD. G2C has also had a national impact and has worked in all regions of Colombia especially rural areas, given we are fully aware of the inequitable conditions the Colombian rural populations face compared to the cities. Born and raised in Medellin he started seeking his career very young. He moved to New York City to further his studies in English and in music, he worked between Colombia and the United States to develop his career. Some of his hits have been 6 AM, Ay Vamos, Bobo, Travesuras Remix and Ginza. This is how Sabrina Yanguas view herself: No two humans, regardless of their origin and evolution, can ever be identical. In a world of 6 billion people, not a single one of us is a duplicate. Scientists call this DNA, that double helix that our genes are made of. Our hair, saliva, even our sun burnt skin tells the unique story of our beginnings on this earth. Scientists can unlock the history of our lives and even our parent’s lives by simply analyzing our bodily belongings under a microscope. The science of DNA has always fascinated me. The microscope however was never the canvas I yearned to work with. And so, from an early age, I set out to recreate my own story using paint and a brush. Each stroke tells my story. From the young girl growing up in Bogota, Colombia to the teenager who gave it all up to pursue her dreams in the United States. My hands have worked with more than just paint. I studied culinary arts and to this day still find solace in the kitchen. I also received a degree in entertainment management. Painting has always been the bridge connecting my past and present. The speed and adreniline in which I chose to live my life is often exhibited in my works. Just like my bodily DNA can be traced back to my parents, my artistic DNA can be traced back to greats like Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky. While his work appears abstract at first glance, closer examination reveals a beautiful architecture. His was a story naked for all to see, but yet easily overlooked. Through my work, I invite you to trace my life back to it’s origin and reflect on what your life would look like if expressed on a canvas.     FARRUKO Biography Carlos Efren Reyes Rosado, better known as Farruko, was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, on May 2, 1991. This singer-songwriter is considered by experts as a musical phenomenon of our times for his great musical versatility performance expertise. Farruko has consistently demonstrated his dominion over most sub-genres of urban music like Reggaeton, Rap, Hip Hop, R & B and now Trap Latino. He has also proved his adaptability, crossing over into pop, bachata, mambo and vallenato genres. Farruko has released several albums, delighting the fans production after production. The majority of these studies have focused on the interaction between a local language and a non-local language. In this project, I propose an analysis of the mixture of two world languages (Spanish and English), which can be categorised as both local and non-local. I do this through the analysis of the enormously successful reggaeton genre, which is characterised by its use of Spanglish. I used two data types to inform my research: a corpus of code-switching instances in top 20 reggaeton songs, and a questionnaire on attitudes towards Spanglish in general and in music. I collected 200 answers to the questionnaire – half from American English-speakers, and the other half from Spanish-speaking Hispanics of various nationalities.

    Shanghai, China Overview Introduction The name Shanghai still conjures images of romance, mystery and adventure, but for decades it was an austere backwater. After the success of Mao Zedong's communist revolution in 1949, the authorities clamped down hard on Shanghai, castigating China's second city for its prewar status as a playground of gangsters and colonial adventurers. And so it was. In its heyday, the 1920s and '30s, cosmopolitan Shanghai was a dynamic melting pot for people, ideas and money from all over the planet. The pandemic raged in our community, routine rhythms of daily life were disrupted, and lives were lost and families irreparably scarred. Yet, I still found cause for hope. Even amidst the gloomiest days of 2020, I still saw progress achieved. Our city mourned but we did not despair. Our city stumbled but we did not fall. Our city struggled but we overcame. I am well aware of the challenges that Wilkes-Barre faces. No doubt difficult decisions loom; however, I am as confident as ever that there is nothing that we cannot achieve together. As a people, we have always stood for a few basic principles. Progress through sacrifice. Progress through resilience. Progress through compassion. We have always rejected the politics of expedience. We have always rejected the politics of self-interest. We have always rejected the politics of opportunism. Last year, we made difficult but necessary decisions to restore confidence in city government and solidify city finances. We also revived dormant commercial and residential development projects that are vital to the future of the city. We must continue to invest in ourselves if we expect Wilkes-Barre to thrive in the coming years.
