Milli Mücadele Döneminde Mehmet Akif Ve Islamcilik*
Turkish Studies - International Periodical For The Languages, Literature and History of Turkish or Turkic Volume 9/12 Fall 2014, p. 563-572, ANKARA-TURKEY MİLLİ MÜCADELE DÖNEMİNDE MEHMET AKİF VE İSLAMCILIK* Emin OBA** Dinçer ÖZTÜRK** Hulisi GÜRBÜZ** ÖZET Mehmet Akif Ersoy edebi kişiliği, ahlakı ve yaşam tarzı ile örnek bir insan modelidir. Çalışmamızda, Mehmet Akif’in İslamcılık fikirleri ve faaliyetleri hakkında bilgi verilmeye çalışılmıştır. Akif’in İslamcılık fikri için yaptıklarına değinilmiştir. Mehmet Akif’in Milli Mücadele’deki faaliyetleri ve fikirleri verilmeye çalışılmıştır. Akif, Müslüman toplumların, Gayr-ı Müslim toplumların boyunduruğu altında yaşayamayacağı fikrini savunmuştur. Osmanlı devletinin yıkılma sürecine girmesinden dolayı, imparatorluğun bünyesinde yaşayan devletlerin kendi kaderinin tayin etmesi gerektiği fikrini savunarak, Milli Mücadeleye her alanda destek vermiştir. Akif’in siyasi yönü üzerinde de durulmuştur. O siyasetin her türlüsünden kaçınmıştır, daha ileri giderek siyaset kelimesinden bile uzak durmuştur. Siyasetten Allah’a sığınmıştır. -

Chaos Theory and Its Application to Education: Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Case*
Educational Sciences: Theory & Practice • 14(2) • 510-518 ©2014 Educational Consultancy and Research Center www.edam.com.tr/estp DOI: 10.12738/estp.2014.2.1928 Chaos Theory and its Application to Education: Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Case* Vesile AKMANSOYa Sadık KARTALb Burdur Provincial Education Department Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Abstract Discussions have arisen regarding the application of the new paradigms of chaos theory to social sciences as compared to physical sciences. This study examines what role chaos theory has within the education process and what effect it has by describing the views of university faculty regarding chaos and education. The partici- pants in this study consisted of 30 faculty members with teaching experience in the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Science and Literature, and the School of Veterinary Sciences at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University in Burdur, Turkey. The sample for this study included voluntary participants. As part of the study, the acquired qualitative data has been tested using both the descriptive analysis method and content analysis. Themes have been organized under each discourse question after checking and defining the processes. To test the data, fre- quency and percentage, statistical techniques were used. The views of the attendees were stated verbatim in the Turkish version, then translated into English by the researchers. The findings of this study indicate the presence of a “butterfly effect” within educational organizations, whereby a small failure in the education process causes a bigger failure later on. Key Words Chaos, Chaos and Education, Chaos in Social Sciences, Chaos Theory. The term chaos continues to become more and that can be called “united science,” characterized by more prominent within the various fields of its interdisciplinary approach (Yeşilorman, 2006). -

LIBERAL CRITICISM TOWARD THE UNIONIST POLICIES DURING THE GREAT WAR: ALI KEMAL AND THE SABAH / PEYAM-I SABAH NEWSPAPER by ONUR ÇAKMUR Submitted to the Institute of Social Sciences in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts Sabancı University July 2018 © Onur Çakmur 2018 All Rights Reserved ABSTRACT LIBERAL CRITICISM TOWARD THE UNIONIST POLICIES DURING THE GREAT WAR: ALİ KEMAL AND THE SABAH / PEYAM-I SABAH NEWSPAPER ONUR ÇAKMUR Master of Arts in Turkish Studies, July 2018 Thesis Advisor: Assoc. Prof. Selçuk Akşin Somel Keywords: Ali Kemal; Armistice press; First World War; Liberal opposition; Sabah newspaper The First World War that lasted from 1914 to 1918 occupies an important place in Turkish History. However, in comparison with the Turkish War of Independence, Ottoman experience of the Great War remains a relatively under-researched area. The Committee of Union and Progress (CUP), which ruled the Ottoman Empire during the War, constituted a dictatorship and kept the opposition under strict censorship. During the armistice period, political pressure was lifted and the press became a platform for criticism about the wartime policies of the Unionists and its consequences. Therefore, this study primarily aims to analyze Sabah (from January 1920 onwards published as Peyam-ı Sabah), a leading newspaper of the opposition, with regard to its perspective on the War during the armistice period. The emphasis of the study will be on the editor-in- chief of the paper, Ali Kemal, an iconic figure of the period, who had been very influential especially in Sabah’s analyses regarding the War and the figures who were responsible in this debacle. -
A Note on the Origins of 1914-18 'War Poetry'
A note on the origins of 1914-18 ‘war poetry’ Dominic Hibberd Biography Dominic Hibberd, was a biographer, editor and critic who taught at universities in Britain, the USA, and China. He wrote biographies of two poets, Harold Monro and Wilfred Owen, as well as the critical study Owen the Poet (1986). He edited Poetry of the First World War in the Casebook series (1981), and with John Onions, compiled and edited The Winter of the World: Poems of the First World War (2007). Abstract The sort of work that has often been thought of as typical British First World War poetry – realistic, often angry poems about the actualities of the front line, written from the point of view of the ordinary soldier and aimed at the civilian conscience – was in fact not typical at all. And it was not begun by soldiers in the aftermath of front-line horrors, as is often supposed, but by two civilian poets very early in the war. Harold Monro and Wilfrid Gibson deserve to be recognised as the first of what modern readers would call the ‘war poets’.
