Abyssinia By: Khadija Elgaili Elmahi Abyssinia, the heart of the land of origins, the earliest country to peacefully embrace Islam, the birthplace of the domesticated coffee plant, the presence of 80 different unique ethnic groups. Abyssinia, the origin of sayidina Bilal (R.A), a place that welcomed the companions of the Prophet Mohammed (SAW), a home, a safe place and protection for the earlest accepters of Islam. Abyssinia, where you would never feel lonely, where the feeling of companionship is always motivated. Abyssinia, brimming with the smell of coffee and compassion, between the long roads, growing closer to the rugged-mountain sight, full of green scenery from left to right. Everyday, sipping the bright yellow sun with a bit of sweetness, tasting the soft air, and seeing the scent of mixed shades of blue. THE HIJABI QUEEN Abyssinia, found in the sharp Horns of Africa, By: Maysam Ibrahim beneath the stars, in the vast north, growing east, They see the outside and judge the inside when I watch closer, the beam of light to Africa shining, They always wonder what I really hide calling my black pride, and the smell of Shiro reaching out. Now comes the time for me to explain As I walk through the garden ground, That I cover my head and not my brain the mosquitos, accompanying me, wanting a taste of my sweet blood, bringing my method of pausing and slapping into life. That hijab runs in my blood and vein She, with her dancing hands, lets go of the round injera, Hijab is not just a piece of cloth falling back, returning to the hands that created it. Hijab is a path to the heaven’s doors The shiro, shining sharp with a shimmer of dark orange, I cover myself, I do it for my Lord overpowering the strong scent of seasoning, My beauty is not for the world and pieces of chickpeas is the key to our togetherness. Never meant to be exposed I am home, where I feel embraced among this mosaic culture, Hijab is a symbol for a righteous woman where she felt proud, to the depth of her soul, A woman who stands and fights for her vision and her witnessing presence saw the definition of black pride. Hijab is a protection for the pious believer Abyssinia, full of freedom fighters who, seeked for the taste of freedom that influenced, Just like a vest that protects a soldier my views to become part of this achievement. So, to all the girls who shine everyday The land that protected the oppressed under the kingdom of Najashi, Keep your head up because you are brave the land where equality and unity runs in the blood of Abyssinians. Don’t let people affect you with what they say A place where people are not discriminated based on their color, You are a winner when you live by your faith a place that respects the woman’s honor. Never allow the stereotypes to let you down Abyssinia, what’s the catch? Because you are a queen and hijab is your crown! “Pride of the motherland” 4 5 $100 $500 Winter Provisions Package Winter Provisions Package Helps 5 to 7 Persons Helps 25 to 35 Persons Life Saving Winter Provisions for Underprivledged in: ● () ● ● ( ● ● ) ● ● ● ( ● ) Winter Provision Packages vary based on country needs: Comforters, blankets, woolen caps, gloves, sweaters, woolen shawl, and more! a as saa is as i sii lal s.
