Topical Philately Handbook

It is appropriate that the year in which the 100th anniversary of Liechtenstein philately is being celebrated should see the publication of the “Handbook of Liechtenstein Topical Philately 1985 – 2011”, which has long been awaited among philatelists and closes the pres- ent gap in information about Liechten- stein stamp and postal stationery issues between 1985 and 2011. Like its prede- cessor this Handbook provides several hundred pages of useful information about not only the themes treated in the designs of Liechtenstein stamps, but also about the small Principality’s histo- ry and culture. Like the classic “Liecht- enstein Topical Philately Handbook” (Vol. 21) covering the years 1912 to 1984, the present issue too is published in the Swiss Topical Philately Associa- tion’s Publication Series (Vol. 35). The publisher is the Liechtenstein Collectors’ Club in Switzerland (VLS), which initiat- ed this Handbook and succeeded in ob- taining Dr. Ernst Schlunegger, the author of the first volume, for the preparation of this welcome sequel.
