MEDITERAnSKI KORIJEnI FILOzOFIJE Hrvatsko filozofsko društvo i Odsjek za filozofiju Filozofskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Splitu organiziraju međunarodni filozofski i interdisciplinar- ni simpozij IX. Grčka i rimska antika, helenističko-rimsko naslijeđe, Bizant, orijentalne arapske tradicije, uz pečat nove islamske religije stapaju se u islamsko-arapsku srednjovje- kovnu filozofiju, kulturu i civilizaciju. Mislav kukoč Predsjednik Organizacijskog odbora simpozija 7 Introduction IXTH MEDITERRAnEAn ROOTS OF PHILOSOPHY Croatian Philosophical Society and the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, University of Split are organiz- ing the international and interdisciplinary symposium IXth Mediterranean Roots of Philosophy, which will take place from April 9th to April 11th, 2015 in the conference hall of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sci- ences in Split, situated in the front of Peristil, in the center of the magnifi- cent Diocletan’s palace, a zero category monument of the global cultural heritage under the patronage of UnESCO which, as a representative piece of Mediterranean cultural heritage, suits the spirit and the purpose of the symposium perfectly. The Mediterranean is the cradle of western philosophy and science which, together with the Mediterranean heritage of Hebrew-Christian religious tradition sets the foundations of Western European culture and civiliza- tion. Western philosophy and science begin their historical development at the start of 6th century BC on the eastern shores of the Mediterranean sea, specifically in Asia Minor, in the Greek colonies of Miletus and Ephesus and surrounding islands; it then spreads to Elea and Sicily and reaches its peak in Athens, one of the centers of ancient Mediterranean. Later de- velopment of ancient philosophy, from Hellenism to the medieval epoch, through new intellectual centers of Alexandria, Antioch, Carthage and Rome is also crucially related to the Mediterranean. Creation, conflict and mutual permeation of Mediterranean cultures, a distinctive Mediterranean multiculturalism gave an essential mark to the future growth of philosophy in the West. Ancient Greece and Rome, the Hellenistic-Roman heritage, Byzantine world, Oriental Arabic traditions with the mark of the new re- ligion of Islam all blend into Muslim Arabic medieval philosophy, culture and civilization. The Byzantines introduced the Arabs to Greek philosophy, and they, through the mediation of the Crusades and the work of its lead- ing philosophers Avicenna, Averroes and Ibn Haldun returned the forgotten legacy of Aristotelian philosophy back to Europe. 8 Those are only some of the initial premises and possible suggestions for the topics of the symposium Mediterranean Roots of Philosophy; not the only ones, of course. The next aspect relevant to the topics of the symposium re- fers to the foundation of Croatian philosophy which, both in its beginnings and on its zenith, has its roots in the Mediterranean part of its multiregional cultural identity. Starting with Hermann of Dalmatia, continuing through Marko Marulić and Matija Vlačić Ilirik (Matthias Flacius Illyricus), Frane Petrić (Franciscus Patricius) and Ruđer Bošković (Roger Joseph Boscovi- ch), to mention only the most significant figures. Third set of themes congenial to the idea of this symposium relates to the philosophical and interdisciplinary reflection of the peculiarities of the Mediterranean multicultural space which gave birth to the current inter- civilizational tensions threatening to escalate into the clash of civilizations, but also open the possibility of dialogue and reconciliation. That situation naturally suggests the following set of questions discussed at the sympo- sium: ● Do the Mediterranean roots of philosophy influence the origin and de- velopment of the contemporary philosophy of the Mediterranean? ● Philosophical reflection of the Mediterranean multiculturalism ● Incentives of the Mediterranean philosophy

It is also one of the oldest Ashkenazi Jewish surnames. Germans with the last name Katz may originate in the Rhine River region of Germany, where the Katz Castle is located. (The name of the castle does not derive from Katze, cat, but from Katzenelnbogen, going back to Latin Cattimelibocus, consisting of the ancient Germanic tribal name of the Chatti and Melibokus.) Katzman, deriving from the German Katz, is a Slavic name meaning high priest or king. It is believed the Katzman surname originates from Germany and has roots from there as well. As a Jewish surname, Katz is an abbreviation formed from the Hebrew initials of the term Kohen Tzedeq (Hebrew: meaning "priest of justice"/"authentic priest" or Kohen Tzadok meaning the name-bearer is of patrilineal ,(כּ״ץ descent of the Kohanim sons of Zadok.

S time 1 Prema podacima kojima raspolažem doktorske disertacije o Maruliću izradili su i obranili: Mladen Škarica, Marulić’s Sprache gegenüber dem heutigen Dialekte von Spalato und Umgebung, Univeristas litterarum Vindobonensis, Vindobonae 1909.

Barnabas 1 Barnabas For other uses, see Barnabas (disambiguation). "Barnabus" redirects here. For other uses, see Barnabus (disambiguation). Barnabas Icon of Saint Barnabas Prophet, Disciple, Apostle to Antioch and Cyprus, Missionary, and Martyr Born Cyprus Died reputedly 61 AD Salamis, Cyprus Honored in Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Churches, Oriental Orthodox Churches, Anglican Communion, Lutheran Church Canonized Pre-Congregation [1] Major shrine Monastery of St Barnabas in Famagusta, Cyprus Feast June 11 Attributes Pilgrim's staff; olive branch; holding the Gospel of St Matthew Patronage Cyprus, Antioch, against hailstorms, invoked as peacemaker Barnabas (Greek: Βαρνάβας), born Joseph, was an early Christian, one of the earliest Christian disciples in Jerusalem.[2] According to Acts 4:36 [3] Barnabas was a Cypriot Jew. Named an apostle in Acts 14:14 [4], he and Paul the Apostle undertook missionary journeys together and defended Gentile converts against the Judaizers. They traveled together making more converts (c 45-47), and participated in the Council of Jerusalem (c 50).[5] Barnabas and Paul successfully evangelized among the "God-fearing" Gentiles who attended synagogues in various Hellenized cities of Anatolia.[6] Barnabas' story appears in the Acts of the Apostles, and Paul mentions him in some of his epistles.[] Tertullian named him as the author of the Epistle to the Hebrews, but this and other attributions are conjecture.[7] Clement of Alexandria ascribed the Epistle of Barnabas to him, but that is highly improbable.[8] Although the date, place, and circumstances of his death are historically unverifiable, Christian tradition holds that Barnabas was martyred at Salamis, Cyprus, in 61 AD.

  • O Nekim Problemima Maruliceve Da Vidijade*
Branimir Glavičić Zadar O NEKIM PROBLEMIMA MARULICEVE DA VIDIJADE* I Znamenito djelo oca hrvatske književnosti - Davidijada - stolje ćima se ~matralo izgubljenim. Tek je god. 1924. registrirano u torinskoj Nacionalnoj bi1bliotec1.'

DVADESET PETI MARULIĆEVI DANI ZNANSTVENI, KNJIŽEVNI I IZDAVAČKI PROGRAM Split, 19-23. travnja 2015.
