Multivariate statistical analysis has been used to divide this composite database into ®ve separate ore source groups. Evidence that most of these ore sources were exploited for the production of metal artefacts during the Bronze Age and Phrygian Period has been obtained by statistically comparing to them the isotope ratios of 184 analysed artefacts from nine archaeological sites situated within a few hundred kilometres of these mining sites. Also, Appendix B contains 36 new isotope analyses of ore specimens from Central Taurus mining sites that are compatible with and augment the four Central Taurus Ore Source Groups de®ned in Yener et al. (1991). Three taxa, Leptorhaphis parameca, Ramalina pontica, and Seirophora contortuplicata, are newly recorded for Turkey. For each taxon, habitat and distributional data are presented. Nevertheless, large gaps remain in the knowledge of lichen distribution in Turkey. Among the particularly neglected areas are Amasya, Çorum, and Tokat. Few publications report any lichens for Amasya or Çorum (John 1999, 2000, John et al. 2000, Çobanoğlu & Akdemir 2004, Leuckert & Kümmerling 1991, Lumbsch & Feige 1999, Steiner 1916, Verseghy 1982). For Tokat no published lichen records seem to exist so far. Here data are contributed from Amasya, Çorum, and Tokat, situated in the central part of the Black Sea region of Turkey (Fig. 1), based on collections from 20 sites visited on 5 October 2007 and 1 January 2008.

Abstract: This study presents a case study on the heavy metal analysis of soil and plant samples around the Murgul copper mine, one of the first and most important mining areas in Turkey. An attempt has been made to investigate the status of trace elements like Al3+, Fe2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Pb2+, Ni2+, Co2+ and Cd2+ in soils and plants. The sampling localities were taken from 500 m, 600 m, and 1000 m altitudes around the factory and at 1400 m in the forest zone. The aboveground parts and foliage ash of Silene compacta, Tussilago farfara, Smilax excelsa, Rhododendron ponticum, R. luteum, and herbal mix were analysed. The results of analysis have revealed the minimum and maximum concentrations measured in the plants as follows; aluminium (20-8985 mg kg-1), cadmium (0.0- 0.5 mg kg-1), cobalt (0.0-5.5 mg kg-1), copper (0.0-347.5 mg kg-1), iron (25-9320 mg kg-1), lead (2-51 mg kg-1), nickel (1.5-16.5 mg kg-1), and zinc (13.0-221.0 mg kg-1).

The study ma- terial was compared with previously analyzed samples from western Anatolia, increasing the total material to 245 specimens from 31 localities. In general, the pattern of variation and level of genetic differentiation within and among species were comparable between western and eastern samples. Intraspeci®c genetic distances were low, ranging from 0 to 0.051, but interspeci®c distances were an order of magnitude higher. Similarly, neighbor- joining trees showed negligible differentiation between populations of individual species and no sign of intraspeci®c structuring.

Bu dağlar derin vadilerle birbirinden ayrılmaktadır. Vadi tabanında dar alanda çok verimli tarım arazileri bulunmaktadır. Yükseklerde ise orman içi açıklıklarda verimli tarım arazilerine rastlanmaktadır. Orman üst sınırında ise iyi vasıflı yayla ve meralar yer almaktadır. Topoğrafik yapıdaki bu farklılıklar nedeniyle Hopa ve Arhavi ilçelerinde deniz seviyesindeki arazilerden Şavşat, Ardanuç ve Yusufeli ilçelerinin yayla ve mezralarında 2000 m rakıma sahip alanlarda tarımsal faaliyet yapılmaktadır. Türkiye coğrafyasında yetiştirilebilen bir çok ürün ilimizde de yetiştirilmektedir. Rakımın çok fazla değişiklik gösterdiği ilimizde flora zengindir ve çiçeklenme süresi uzundur. İKLİM İlimiz karadeniz iklimi etkisi altındadır. Yağışlı ve ılıman iklim özellikleri göstermektedir. Uzun yıllar ortalaması yağış miktarları kıyı kesimlerinde 1800 mm’yi bulurken iç bölgelere doğru gittikçe 160 mm’ye kadar düşmektedir. İç kesimlere düşen yağış genellikle kışın kar şeklinde olmaktadır. NÜFUS 2000 yılı nüfus sayımına göre toplam nüfusu 191.934’tür. Bu nüfusun % 44’ü ilçe merkezlerinde, % 56’sı ise köylerde yaşamaktadır. Göç nedeniyle toplam nüfus yıldan yıla azalmaktadır. Merkez ilçe dahil 8 ilçe, 4 belde, 310 köy yerleşim birimi mevcuttur. 310 köyün 159 adeti orman içi köy, 151 adeti ormana bitişik köy kapsamındadır İlçeler bazında nüfus dağılımı aşağıdaki tabloda verilmiştir.

Orman alanlarının 276883 hektarı (%70.91’i) do ğal ormanlar, 113588 hektarı (% 29.09’u) baltalık ormanlardan olu şmaktadır. Toplam arazinin % 54.77’si ormanlarla kaplıdır. Artvin Orman Bölge Müdürlü ğü ormanları, Picea ssp ., Pinus ssp ., Abies ssp ., Fagus ssp ., Alnus ssp ., Castanea ssp ., Quercus ssp ., Tilia ssp ., Carpinus ssp ., Acer ssp ., Fraxinus ssp ., Betula ssp ., Juniperus ssp. gibi a ğaçlarla kaplıdır. Çalı şmada, Artvin Yöresinin iklim özellikleri, jeolojik yapısı ve toprak özellikleri, ormanların servet ve alansal dağılımı ile bazı silvikültürel çalı şmalar üzerinde durulmu ştur.     HOPA-ARHAVİ BÖLGESİNİN JEOLOJİSİ, YAPISAL ÖZELLİKLERİ İLE SÜLFİT VE MANGANEZ ZUHURLARI (NE TÜRKİYE) Dragan KOPRİVİCA Institute for Geological and Mining Exploration and Investigation of Nuclear and other Mineral Rare Materials, Belgrade, Yugoslavia ÖZET. — İnceleme sahası, bilinen Hopa-Murgul-Artvin madencilik bölgesinde yer almakta olup, volkanik-sedi- menter, efüzif ve İntruzif kayaçlardan oluşmaktadır. Bu kayaçların yaşı, Senoniyenden Kuvaternere kadar uzanmaktadır. Bölgedeki bazik volkanik-sedimenter seri etüt edilmiş ve detaylı olarak alt bölümlere ayrılmıştır. Bölgedeki mevcut mikro- fauna, Santoniyen-Kampaniyen-Mestrihtiyene işaret etmektedir. Bazik seri üzerinde, asit volkanik-sedimenter kompleks yer almakta olup, bu kompleks farklı fasiyeslerin oluşturdukları ritmik alterasyonlar tarafından karakterize edilmektedir. Söz konusu fasiyesler de gerek yanal, gerekse düşey yönde incelerek, yaşı Mestrihtiyenle Lütesiyen arasında uzanan ho- motaksiyal tüflü, arjilli ve marnlı kumtaşlarına geçiş gösterirler. İntruzif kayaçlar, diyorit ve gabro, granodiyorit, kuvars diyorit, biyotit granitten oluşmuşlardır. Bunlar büyük bir ihtimalle Oligosen-Miyosende oluşmuşlardır. Tersiyerde vol- kanizmanın yeniden canlanması sonucu, ojit-hornblend andezit, ojit-diyabaz ve bazaltlar teşekkül etmiş olup, bu kayaç- lar çoğunlukla damar ve siller şeklinde görülürler, inceleme sahası, jeotektonik bakımdan, Pontid-Adjaro-Trialet tektonik ünitesine mensuptur.
