OÈ ZBAL Faculty of Arts and Sciences, BogÆazicËi University, Istanbul, Turkey The accumulated published database of stable lead isotope analyses of ore and slag specimens taken from Anatolian mining sites that parallel the Black Sea coast has been augmented with 22 additional analyses of such specimens carried out at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Multivariate statistical analysis has been used to divide this composite database into ®ve separate ore source groups. Evidence that most of these ore sources were exploited for the production of metal artefacts during the Bronze Age and Phrygian Period has been obtained by statistically comparing to them the isotope ratios of 184 analysed artefacts from nine archaeological sites situated within a few hundred kilometres of these mining sites. Also, Appendix B contains 36 new isotope analyses of ore specimens from Central Taurus mining sites that are compatible with and augment the four Central Taurus Ore Source Groups de®ned in Yener et al. (1991). Materials and Methods: The medicinal plant species utilized by local public for remedial aims were collected and identified. The related knowledge about conventional herbal medicine was collected, herbarium materials were prepared, and they were deposited in the Herbarium of the Faculty of Science, Atatürk University. Results: A total of 77 medical plants pertaining to 30 families were defined in this research. Amongst these, 62 species grew naturally and 15 species were cultivated. The most widespread medicinal plant families were Asteraceae (14), Rosaceae (7), Lamiaceae (5), and Apiaceae (5). The most widespread preparation was decoction. Conclusion: The ethnobotanical outcomes documented in this study provide practical evidence about the use of medicinal plants among the inhabitants of Aziziye District. Furthermore, the results revealed that the medicinal plants of the region are a major source of herbal drugs for primary healthcare utilized among the rural communities. This study can be utilized as baseline knowledge for further scientific research to improve new plant-based commercial drugs, and may transfer the traditional information as regards usage of medicinal herbs to new generation. -

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract Gobio sakaryaensis, a new species from the Tozman and the Porsuk streams of the Sakarya River drainage (northwestern Anatolia, Black Sea basin), is described. The species is distinguished from other gudgeons by a combination of the fol- lowing characters: breast completely scaled, scales approximately extending to isthmus; head length 27.2–30.0 % SL; 39– 42 lateral line scales; 4–6 scales between anus and anal-fin origin; 6–8 scales between posterior extremity of pelvic-fin bases and anus. A key is provided for Gobio and Romanogobio species recorded from Turkey. Anadolu ve Kafkasya'nın; Doğu Karadeniz ve Kuzey Doğu Anadolu'nun kesişim noktasında bulunması bu sahanın hem tarihî hem kültürel anlamda zenginleşmesine sebep olmuştur. Zenginlik içerisinde sadece Türk menşeli topluluklar olmayıp aynı zamanda Gürcü ve Ermeni gibi farklı milletler de kültürel katmanın içinde kendine yer bulmuştur. Bu çeşitlilikle beraber Artvin halk kültürü ve halk inanışları da bir o kadar gelişmiştir. Çalışmada yapılan tespitler ve diğer Türk coğrafyalarındaki halkın inancı ile karşılaştırıldığında açık bir şekilde bu şehrin inanç dünyası eski Türklerin izlerini taşıdığı söylenebilir. Halk inanışları geçmişten bugüne bir bölgeden başka bir bölgeye, bir toplumdan başka bir topluma değişiklik göstererek varlıklarını sürdürmüşlerdir. Çalışmada hem sözlü kültür geleneklerinin hem de halk inançları uygulamalarının çoğunlukla sürdüğü bir bölge olan Artvin'de inançların ne olduğu, Anadolu'nun diğer bölgelerinden ne gibi farklılık gösterdiğini ve bazı inanmaların kökeni açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Artvin ve çevresinin halk inançları noktasında Anadolu dışında yaşayan özellikle Kafkas kökenli Türk toplulukları ile kültürel bir bağ kurduğu tespit edilmiştir. This study is mainly based on the Large flowing waters are defined as rivers or as streams. Stream involves a body of water flowing in a channel or watercourse, whether it is as small as a brook or as large as a river (Stream, 2011). The word stream has many different meanings as well, and has a larger context involving several types of flowing waters. Another concept that may be used in place of rivers or streams is waterway. A waterway is defined “as a body of water that is navigable by boat” (Lerner and Lerner, 2009, 714). A “waterway can be a river, but this concept also includes lakes, oceans, and human-made canals” (Lerner and Lerner, 2009, 714). -

More than 30 non-native freshwater fish species which are introduced for the different purpose were reported in Turkey. In addition to the freshwater non-native fish species, the brackish water systems are also affected by the fish species that enter the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal. This study aimed to identify non-native fish species introduced in the Mediterranean brackish water systems of Turkey. Thirteen non-native species from eleven families were identified from 15 localities along the entire Mediterranean Coast of Turkey between 2014-2017. These species are Carassius gibelio (Bloch, 1782), Pseudorasbora parva (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846), Coptodon zillii (Gervais, 1848), Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus, 1758), Gambusia holbrooki Girard, 1859, Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum, 1792), Chelon carinatus (Valenciennes 1836), Equulites klunzingeri (Steindachner, 1898), Upeneus moluccensis (Bleeker, 1855), Upeneus pori Ben-Tuvia & Golani, 1989, Siganus rivulatus Forsskål & Niebuhr, 1775, Sillago suezensis Golani, Fricke & Tikochinski, 2013 and Sphyraena chrysotaenia Klunzinger, 1884.
