Bruna Nunes de Luna (Doutoranda, Bolsista CAPES – JBRJ) e Laura Garzon Duffles (Bolsista PIBIC/CNPq – JBRJ) Resumo: A estrutura e organização do androceu em Primulaceae, Ordem Ericales (APG 2016), é uma das características mais evidentes de sua morfologia floral, além da presença e distribuição das estruturas secretoras na subfamília Myrsinoideae. A presença de um segundo ciclo de estames, mesmo que vestigial, tem sido observada em espécies de Myrsine ocorrentes no Brasil (Freitas & Kinoshita 2015). A análise de sua origem e desenvolvimento irá favorecer não só a soma de informações sobre a morfologia da família mas esclarecer as informações sobre os diferentes graus de fusão do androceu que podem ocorrer na família. O gênero Cybianthus é um dos maiores gêneros da familia Primulaceae com cerca de 150 espécies distribuídas na região neotropical, e 66 espécies no Brasil (BFG 2015). Ocorrem especialmente em ambientes preservados e, no Parque Nacional de Itatiaia tem sido encontradas em áreas próximas aos rios. Não são conhecidos estudos com maiores detalhamentos da morfologia e desenvolvimento das peças florais destes dois gêneros, especialmente se tratando de espécies que compõem a flora brasileira. Estudos recentes foram iniciados no laboratório de Botânica Estrutural do Instituto de Pesquisas Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro, com a espécie Myrsine coriacea (Sw.) R. Br. ex Roem. & Schult. (Figura 1) e, verifica-se que as respostas até então obtidas, e inéditas, sobre a embriologia, estão totalmente de acordo com os já descritos para Myrsinoideae e Primulaceae, exceto com relação a falta de sincronismo entre os esporângios das anteras de Myrsine, o que ainda não foi referido para a família. Espécimes de Cybianthus verticillatus (Vell.) G. Agostini foram registrados nas trilhas para as cachoeiras Itaporani e Véu da Noiva (Figura 2), de acordo com a literatura, ocupam ambientes preservados. Os indivíduos encontrados de C. verticillatus são escassos, porém no acompanhamento dos mesmos, iniciado em 2014, verifica-se que se mantém resistentes às intempéries e freqüente presença de visitantes, o que ressalta a importância da conservação destes ambientes. Expedições mensais no ano de 2016 tem sido realizadas ao Parque Nacional de Itatiaia para acompanhamento de floração dos indivíduos, pois para a execução deste subprojeto são necessários botões florais em diferentes fases de desenvolvimento. Observa-se que o período de floração é restrito e, segundo observado em coletas registradas no Herbário do Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro, tem sido alterado ao longo dos anos. O presente trabalho objetiva analisar o grau de inserção do androceu em diferentes espécies e gêneros de Myrsinoideae, inicialmente em Myrsine e Cybianthus, e dar continuidade aos estudos embriológicos, como forma de subsidiar futuros projetos de pesquisas, a conservação das espécies e, principalmente, com o propósito de destacar a importância da conservação e manutenção das Unidades de Conservação para a conservação da biodiversidade brasileira. Apresentam agrupados em quatro subfamílias: Maesoideae, inflorescências racemosas, flores pediceladas, Myrsinoideae, Primuloideae e Theophrastoideae bractéola única, cálice livre ou fusionado na base (APG IV). E-mail: Abstract: The Rondônia Natural Resources Management Project (PLANAFLORO) was a strategic program developed in partnership between the Brazilian Government and The World Bank in 1992, with the purpose of stimulating the sustainable development and protection of the Amazon in the state of Rondônia. More than a decade after the PLANAFORO program concluded, the aim of the present work is to recover and share the information from the long-abandoned plant collections made during the project’s ecological-economic zoning phase. Most of the material analyzed was sterile, but the fertile voucher specimens recovered are listed here. The material examined represents 378 species in 234 genera and 76 families of angiosperms. Some 8 genera, 68 species, 3 subspecies and 1 variety are new records for Rondônia State. It is our intention that this information will stimulate future studies and contribute to a better understanding and more effective conservation of the plant diversity in the southwestern Amazon of Brazil. Traditionally, Rapanea was considered distinct from Myrsine based on the absence of well-defined filaments and style, but these characters have been shown to intergrade between species of the different genera. Pipoly (2007) and Takeuchi & Pipoly (2009) further discuss character variation in the genera in New Guinea, and formally completed the transfer of the eastern Malesian names of Rapanea to Myrsine.

Rowan3 Abstract Background: Restoring erosion-prone land with indigenous species, whether by managed reforestation (planting) or by passive natural reversion, is reliant on knowing which species mix is likely to provide the quickest and most effective mitigation against shallow landslides. In turn, this requires knowledge of differences in growth metrics among plant species, particularly during their formative years. This study presents data on the root development and architecture of 12 of New Zealand’s commonest early colonising indigenous shrub and tree species. These data are crucial to the development of guidelines and policy for land use conversion and future land management options where unmitigated erosion is of increasing concern. Methods: In a plot-based field trial, the growth performance of Coprosma robusta (karamū), Plagianthus regius (ribbonwood), Sophora tetraptera (kōwhai), Pittosporum eugenioides (lemonwood), Pittosporum tenuifolium (kōhūhū), Hoheria populnea (lacebark), Myrsine australis (māpou), Pseudopanax arboreus (fivefinger), Cordyline australis (cabbage tree), Knightia excelsa (rewarewa), Leptospermum scoparium (mānuka), and Coriaria arborea (tutu) was measured annually over five consecutive years. Results: Eleven species developed a heart-shaped root system and Cordyline australis, a tap-rooted system. By year 5, the root/shoot ratio ranged between 0.24 and 0.44, > 99.5% of the total root mass and root length of all species was confined to within 0.5 m of the ground surface and > 73% within 1 radial metre of the root bole.
