Resumen RESUMEN La presente investigación aborda el diseño de un producto turístico (excursión) en el Valle de los Ingenios, ubicado en el Destino turístico Trinidad. Crear un nuevo producto, saber presentarlo, combinarlo o relanzarlo bajo nuevas condiciones, forma parte de los aspectos a considerar en el mix del producto turístico. El Destino Trinidad constituye uno de los destinos históricos culturales más importantes para el país, tanto por el inventario de recursos con que cuenta, como por el volumen de clientes que recibe; por lo que la diversificación de la oferta, en el competitivo entorno en que se desarrolla, constituye uno de los puntos clave en la comercialización del destino. Con este fin fueron analizados varios procedimientos utilizados para el desarrollo de nuevos productos, seleccionando el procedimiento participativo para la elaboración de productos turísticos integrados propuesto por Machado y Cuevas en 2007. El producto turístico diseñado tiene por objetivo responder a una demanda insatisfecha identificada en el mercado turístico que visita el Destino Trinidad; ampliar el desarrollo turístico del Valle de los Ingenios y aprovechando la concentración de turistas en el destino, potenciar las ventas de opcionales turísticas de forma que implique un crecimiento de los ingresos del turismo en el territorio. El principal valor de este trabajo radica en la necesidad de crear novedosas y diversas ofertas sobre la base de la integración de todos los atractivos y componentes del destino, logrando la autenticidad de las mismas, de acuerdo a las nuevas tendencias del mercado internacional. Producto Turístico “El Valle: entre azúcar y haciendas”| VII Summary SUMMARY This research deals with the design of a tourist product in “The Sugar Mill Valley”, located in the Trinidad touristic resort. Some important aspects to take into account in the mix of touristic product are the creation of a new product, to know how to present it, combine it or relaunch it under new conditions. Trinidad is one of the most important historical and cultural destinations in the country, both for the inventory of resources available and the number of costumers who visit it. Therefore, one of the key issues when selling the destination is the supply diversification in the competitive context it develops. Having this in mind, a number of procedures were analyzed when creating new products, selecting the participative process in the creation of integrated products proposed by Machado and Cuevas in 2007. The tourist product designed intends to provide a solution to the unmet demand that has been identified in the touristic market that visit Trinidad, to increase the development of “The Sugar Mill Valley” as well as giving a major boost to the sales of different touristic choices (due to the great amount of tourists in the destination), which implies a revenue growth of tourism in the area. The main value of this research is the need to create new and different offers based on the integration of all the components in the destination, ensuring their authenticity accordingly with the new tendencies of the international market. Las fotografías estereoscópicas también tuvieron un propósito educativo: proveían imágenes de eventos importantes, lugares y personas. La colección incluye fotografías de dos de las compañías de fotografías estereoscópicas más importantes en Estados Unidos: Underwood & Underwood y Keystone View Company. Publicado por: Juventud Rebelde Soy, y desconozco si la expresión es correcta, una suerte de obituario viviente. Llueva, truene o relampaguee no dejo de detenerme ante cuanta tarja, placa, busto o monumento encuentro a mi paso. Con algunos mantengo una complicidad especial, como con la cabeza del gran periodista cubano Manuel de la Cruz, emplazada en Prado y Neptuno. Cada vez que discurro por esa esquina, le digo: «Adiós, don Manuel», y creo que él me responde el saludo. Es un monumento poco afortunado. Una vez un vehículo salido de cauce lo hizo añicos. Lo recompusieron o restituyeron, no sé. Como el busto del autor de Cecilia Valdés, ubicado al fondo de la Iglesia del Ángel. Una tarde, en esas horas del diablo que son las que siguen al mediodía, lo bajaron de su pedestal con el ánimo de sustraerlo. Pero los vecinos, convocados a la voz de «¡Nos roban a Cirilo!», dieron caza a los ladrones. El gran caricaturista Juan David me dijo una vez que los monumentos servían para que la gente se olvidara de los personajes monumentados. Por suerte, el mundo no es tan dramático como lo pintan los humoristas. Un monumento no solo recuerda a determinada persona, sino que sirve para que esa persona, que en un momento alcanzó notoriedad, siga viviendo con esta entre nosotros. Sobre todo en esa estatuaria que humaniza al personaje, lo baja a ras de suelo y lo convierte en uno más de su entorno.

Indeed, Cuba is one of the few countries in the world where mass global culture has yet to penetrate and where being ‘famous’ is usually more to do with genuine talent than good looks, luck or the right agent. Despite the all-pervading influence of the Cuban government in the country’s vibrant cultural life, Habana’s art world remains surprisingly experimental and varied. Thanks to generous state subsidies over the past 50 years, traditional cultural genres such as Afro- Cuban dance and contemporary ballet have been enthusiastically revisited and revalued, resulting in the international success of leading Cuban dance troupes such as the Habana- based Conjunto Folklórico Nacional (p139 ) and the Ballet Nacional de Cuba. Much of Cuba’s best art is exhibited in apolitical genres such as pop art and opera, while more cutting-edge issues can be found in movies such as Fresa y Chocolate, a film that boldly questioned social mores and pushed homosexuality onto the public agenda. DANCE & THEATER Described by aficionados as ‘a vertical representation of a horizontal act,’ Cuban dancing is famous for its libidinous rhythms and sensuous moves. It comes as no surprise to discover that the country has produced some of the world’s most exciting dancers. With an innate musical rhythm at birth and the ability to replicate perfect salsa steps by the age of two or three, Cubans are natural performers who approach dance with a complete lack of self- consciousness – something that leaves most visitors from Europe or North America feeling as if they’ve got two left feet.

ESCULTURAS Arquitectura y Urbanismo, Vol. XXXI, No. 3/2010 APUNTES SOBRE LA ESCULTURA EN CENTRO HABANA Y SU ENTORNO INTRODUCCIÓN La escultura ha sido una manifestación que ha marchado rezagada respecto a otras artes dentro del panorama plástico nacional, lo que no significa que a lo largo de su historia no haya obras con valores artísticos, aun en los períodos de menos desarrollo. En este trabajo se hace un recorrido por obras de la escultura habanera, en especial, aquellas que Balcón. EsnestoGonzález Jerez. fueron o son hitos urbanos, ubicadas en espacios abiertos o en importantes espacios interiores del Municipio Centro Habana y en la zona colindante con su vecina Habana Vieja. Florencia Peñate Los primeros ejemplos de la escultura habanera eran relieves en piedra del país y mármol importado, en ocasiones realizados fuera del mismo, como la Losa Sepulcral de María Cepero y Nieto de 1557 (en el Palacio de los Capitanes Generales).

The Old City (Habana Vieja), with its narrow streets and overhanging balconies is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the centre of the original city. Soak up the atmosphere as you sip on a Mojito, a refreshing blend of rum, lime, sugar, mint leaves, soda water and ice or maybe sample a Cuba Libre, made with rum, coke and lime. On arrival into Havana's international airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in a Standard Room at Beltrán de Santa Cruz Hotel including breakfast (Standard Category Accommodation). Day 2: - Havana City Tour Take a walking tour around Old Havana historical centre to discover the architectural beauty of this city. Your guide will take you to the main squares of the colonial area: Plaza de Armas, Plaza de San Francisco de Asis, Plaza Vieja and Plaza de la Catedral. Continue by taxi around the modern part of the city with various stops at some of their best attractions: The Capitol building, the Revolution square and the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.

    – Cuba Cruise Program from Cienfuegos – DAY PLACE PROGRAM We meet at 11:00 am at the Melia Cohiba Hotel lobby for a drink and a free transfer by bus to 1 Havana - Cienfuegos. After a 3 hour drive through Cuba's central regions we reach Cienfuegos and Cienfuegos embark the yacht between 15:00 and 16:00. Welcome briefings and cocktail, safety drill. Welcome dinner. Overnight in Cienfuegos. Early morning arriving into the port of Casilda. Our full day optional excursion brings us to Trinidad, a Spanish colonial settlement once built on huge sugar fortunes. Trinidad, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. A meticulously well-preserved Spanish colonial city, with its 2 Casilda - rich architecture, cobblestone streets, palaces and plazas it is sometimes referred to as the Trinidad “museum city of Cuba”. There will be stops for visits to local artists and home studios, the Museum Romantico or the Architecture Museum. After lunch, we will drive to the nearby Sugarmills Valley (Valle de los Ingenios) also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight at sea to Cayo Largo. Early morning arrival in Cayo Largo. Cayo Largo was formed by limestone, formed over millions of years from the remains of marine organisms, much like the ones that form coral 3 Cayo Largo reefs. Our optional excursion will take us to the Sea Turtle Breeding Centre and Endangered Species Protection program. We will then join coral reef experts for an amazing 2 and a half hour guided snorkelling experience. Protected from strong sea currents, the seabed is varied and unspoiled, with an abundance of underwater caves, valleys and steep, gorgonian- encrusted walls.

Publicado por: Juventud Rebelde Cuba es el país del Caribe insular que posee más bienes reconocidos por la Unesco como Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Hasta la fecha un total de diez han sido incluidos en la lista. Juventud Rebelde ofrece imágenes que muestran ciudades, parques, tradiciones y valles reconocidos por la UNESCO como Patrimonios de la Humanidad. Con casi cinco siglos de vida, La Habana Vieja y su sistema de fortificaciones coloniales, situada cerca del interior del puerto, muestra junto a sus atributos naturales un valioso patrimonio arquitectónico, reconocido entre los mejores conservados de América Latina. Este añejo enclave, fundado por los españoles en 1519, se convirtió en el siglo XVII en un importante astillero para la región del Caribe. Declarado Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad por la Organización de Naciones Unidas para la Educación la Ciencia y la Cultura (UNESCO), en diciembre de 1982, La Habana Vieja conserva la arquitectura típica de la época colonial y cuenta con plazas, palacetes, mansiones, catedrales, castillos, conventos e iglesias, en los que se aprecia la mezcla de monumentos barrocos y neoclásicos. Estas construcciones, sometidas a un permanente programa de restauración del patrimonio histórico, acogen museos, bibliotecas, salas de concierto, galerías de arte, estudios de artistas de la plástica y otras instituciones culturales que conviven en armonía con otros centros socioculturales imprescindibles para lograr la sostenibilidad de esa zona.
