CANCER SURVIVORSHIP

• To provide sufficient care and support for survivors • Increasing the size of the psychosocial unit and the number of personnel (both psychiatric and physiotherapeutic) • Patient information center launched • Mobile follow-ups of breast cancer patients and of prostate cancer patients (after prostatectomy or radiotherapy) are developed, and mobile follow-ups will be developed (already ongoing) on all other cancers as well

©Tuula Helander 28.8.2016 From the Proposal of the Finnish Cancer Institute, 2009 NATIONAL COORDINATION CENTER, AND PROFILES OF REGIONAL CENTERS - The operations of FICAN would be coordinated by a central unit (located in connection of one regional center, in Helsinki) - Regional profiling i.e. naming certain focus areas in accordance with the expertise of the region (university hospital/university).

FICAN: a national top expert and preparatory organ – that the entire cancer treatment process operates efficiently, both from the aspect of the patient and the service system, from the phase of prevention to early diagnosis and all the way to high-quality treatment and rehabilitation.
