OPENING ACTIVITIES/MISSION STATEMENT The Mission of the Bridgeton Public School District is to provide multiple pathways for all students to attain the Common Core State Standards and meet the needs of our diverse student population. Bridgeton High School Air Force JROTC is requesting a one-time reset for the Bridgeton Cadet Corps. This reset, creating blended classes, will make it easier for more Cadets to fit our program into their schedule. To approve Kids Corner Chess Club & Homework Club at Broad Street School. Kids Corner will provide an Afterschool Chess Club (Gr. 5-8) and Homework Club (Gr. 3 & 4) for the students at Broad Street School. Chess Club will be held on Tuesdays and Homework Club will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Kids Corner will provide the Chess Games and snacks for both clubs as well as the salary for the advisors. BPS will provide afterschool busing for the students. b. To approve Broad Street School Family Winter Activity Night for grades K-4 on December 7, 2016 from 5:30-7:30 PM. (Snow date: 12/21/16). Parents will participate with their children in Math games, a Robotics Demo and a presentation from our Attendance Office. The families will also rotate to activity stations for family pictures and a frame decorating station funded by kids corner. Parent Materials will be available on Math/Science information. OPENING ACTIVITIES/Mission Statement PUBLIC PARTICIPATION Ms. Sara Echevarria from United Advocacy Group addressed the board about her group who advocates for parents with children with special needs. They meet 1 time per month and she wanted to ensure that all of the schools are aware of their services. A back to school bash will occur at the end of the month. Jean Scarani of Upper Deerfield PreK addressed the board. She has a letter of intent for 3 classrooms. She advised that her enrollment is low this year and she does not want to keep the 3rd class. It is causing her to lose revenue and it would be a hardship for her business. Ms. Edwards asked how many students she has in a class. She responded 15 per classroom and right now she has 24 enrolled. She believes that they can get 6 more students but not 21. Mr. Morgan advised that Mrs. Albanese would get back to her. They presented their reasons and to benefit the kids. Mr. Curt Morgan thanked the board for allowing them to host last year. Explained that the cost of upkeep of the midget field is beyond the ability with their limited funds. Action: 1.7 RESOLUTIONS Motion by Mr. Gonzalez, second by Mr. Williams the following Resolutions: Authorizing Interlocal agreements between Bridgeton Board of Education and Vineland Board of Education under the name of Cumberland County Regional Transportation Cooperative. Retiree Resolution Motion carried, roll call vote was 5-2-1, with Mr. Bethea and Mr. Morgan voting no and Ms. Edwards abstaining.
