Buckshutem Road & Quarter Mile Lane Schools. The workshop will be held at Buckshutem Rd. School, Conference Room from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM on March 15, 2017. Training will be divided into two sessions 8:30-11:30 AM and 12:30 - 3:30 PM. Total cost $3600.00. Acct. # 20-250-200-320-00-40 CO. e. To approve the Young Audiences to conduct three - 13 day artists’ residencies as awarded by the NJDOE Title I Arts Integration Pilot Project. In each residency, artists in residence will work with K-3 grade teachers to infuse Storytelling throughout the curriculum as a means to increase student achievement. Each residency will consist of 2 professional development workshops, 10 days working with teachers, 1 culminating activity. All artists’ fees and supplies are included. Upon final NJDOE approval, the residencies will begin and end approx. June 30, 2017. 3 residencies x $10,000 each = $30,000.

Item 2.3 a-eee *Approval of Student Programs a. To approve the Bridgeton Teacher Academy (previously approved on the March 2016 Board agenda) to be held for 2 weeks in July 2017. The Academy will create a pipeline of Bridgeton students (Grade 11) who are interested in becoming teachers. The students will work with Rowan faculty to plan and teach mini-lessons and activities to Bridgeton elementary school children (K-3) in an academic summer program. The program seeks to recruit a diverse group of Bridgeton students with the long-term goal of creating supports for individuals from underrepresented groups to become teachers. Registration will be limited to 20 high school juniors entering their senior year. The two-week program will meet Monday through Friday in July from 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Students are required to attend daily sessions. Students and their families will be invited to attend an orientation program in late June and a closing ceremony on the last day of the program. Total program cost $24,800.00. See attached description.

b. To approve Young Audiences to provide a 10-day dance residency for Perkins funded Dance classes at BHS. The African and Modern Interpretive dance classes will take place on Feb. 27, Mar. 6, 27, April 3, 24, May 1, 8, 15, 17, 18, 2017. The residency will culminate in a dance performance. c. To approve Young Audiences Teaching Artist, Jeannine Osayande, to provide 4 sessions of West African dance for BHS performing arts students and teachers. This will be funded through the FEA/NJPSA Leaders as Scholars Arts Integration Project during Semester II, 2017. d. To approve Mr. Earl Knight, CEO of GoBabl to hold 2 assemblies on March 27, 2017 at Bridgeton High School. His presentation will include, navigating social media peer pressure, positive branding and the current market value for creative media application design. Total cost $2000.00, Acct. # 20-237-200-320-02-40. e. To approve The World is My Stage Production Assembly on June 7, 2017 at Bridgeton High School. Dr. Michael Fowlin has worked extensively with all age groups in the United States and in other countries. His presentation will include peer mediation and violence prevention strategies. Total cost $2850.00, Acct. # 20-237- 200-320-02-40. f. To approve Steered Straight, Inc. to present their T. A. G. (Truth About Gangs) Educational Project on February 13, 2017 at BHS. The program includes assemblies, small group sessions with the most identified at-risk students and a 90-minute parent and community seminar. This program is being funded by a grant from the New Jersey State Police. g. To approve participation in the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Camp at Stockton University. Stockton CSI is a residential summer camp for high school students who want hands-on experience with criminal investigation and trial. The Bridgeton PAL, Bridgeton School District and Cumberland County Prosecutors’ office along with Millville Police, Vineland Police and the Sheriff’s Dept. will be working together to send students to CSI camp. The Bridgeton PAL has offered their bus for the transportation of all CSI camp participants to Stockton University. Camp dates to be determined. Camp commences on Sunday and concludes on Thursday. Parents will need to pick up students on Thursday between 3:00 and 4:00 PM. The all-inclusive discounted price of $800 for the camp includes all meals, room and board, classes taught by experts, hands-on investigative and trial experience, and field trips. Up to five students - Total cost $4500.00. Acct. # 11-190-100-890-01-01.

h. To approve Cumberland County Honors Band Concert at Bridgeton High School on February 8, 2017. (Inclement Weather Date - February 15, 2017). The Visual & Performing Arts Department will host this year's Band concert. Select students from Bridgeton, Cumberland Regional, Millville, and Bands will perform. The Concert is an annual collaboration between the County Band Directors, all members of the South Jersey Band Association. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students, proceeds fund a scholarship to a graduating senior of the ensemble pursuing a music degree.

i. To approve a Mother's Day Literacy Night on May 11, 2017 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM for K-5 students at Broad Street School. Students and parents will read pre-selected books in celebration of Mother's Day. Mothers and students will then create a Family Crest to take home. Materials to enhance at-home reading will be distributed in an effort to help families enhance their joy of togetherness through reading. Light refreshments will be served. $400.00, Acct. # 20-237-100-600-03-40.

j. To approve the Broad Street School to apply for the Wheaton Arts Field Trip subsidy program. If awarded this program, funded through the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, allows for free admission to the Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center during the months of April, May, and June 2017. There is no cost to the board.

k. To approve Broad Street School Family Fun Night and Wellness Fair on April 6, 2017 from 5:30-7:30 PM. The night will include fun games and activities such as Dance Revolution and other supervised games. Local vendors and community services, such as chiropractor, dentist, fire department, will provide information to our families. Flowstyle BMX Flatland Riders will perform and talk about how bullying affects everyone and the 3 R's to bullying- Recognize, Refuse and React. Light healthy refreshments will be served paid from our Student Activity Fund. Performance cost $899.00, Acct. # 15-190-100-320-00-03.

l. To approve "Pennies for Patients" for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) at Broad Street School. The LLS Student Series is a service learning, character education and philanthropy program where students gain the unique experience of helping thousands of children and adults in their fight against blood cancers. Collection Boxes will be placed in each classroom for staff and students to donate their spare change in honor of local patients battling leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The campaign will run the month of March and will be held annually. No cost to the Board. m. To approve the YoJo Show "Ace Your PARCC" at Broad Street School on March 24, 2017 students in grades 3-8. The program is geared to get students prepared and energized as well as the confidence to put forth their best effort on the PARCC test. The

show covers PARCC technology enhanced features, important pre-test preparation and having an A+ attitude. Cost is $1,200.00. Acct. # 20-237-100-300-05-40.

n. To approve Young Audiences - Colors of India at Broad Street School on May 12, 2017 for students in grades K-8. Students will join the journey charting the exciting evolution of Indian dance. The performance focuses on the explosive rhythms found in Indian classical and folk dance which eventually gave rise to the recognized Bollywood dance and music of today. Students will take part in an interactive demonstration of the transition that the Indian dance has made from the villages of India to modern day. Total cost of $3,322.00. Acct. # 20-237-200-320-03-40.

o. To approve Young Audiences - A Way with Words with Jacob Winterstein for students in grades 6-8 at Broad Street School. Workshops will be held during school and after school on April 5, 2017 and April 26, 2017. The after school workshops will run from 3:00-5:45 PM. In these workshops students will use freestyle rap and the process of improvising lyrics as a way to explore language, build confidence, and use creativity. The art of freestyling will illustrate to the students the power to use their own unique voice to weave words together into inspired lyrics. This art form strengthens students' ability to bring forth new ideas, innovations and solutions and can lead to an increased interest in the written and spoken word. Total cost is $1,460.00, Acct. #20-237-320-610-02-40. p. To approve Almanac Dance Circus Theatre from Young Audiences at Broad Street School. There will be 3 performances on Thursday, May 18, 2017 for students in grades K-8, and 5 workshops for students in grades 6-8, 2 on Thursday, May 18, and 3 on Friday, May 19, 2017. The performance will focus on character education concepts like trust, teamwork and support, with the visual display fusing acrobatics, storytelling and daring physicality. In the workshops students will discover the fun of combining dance, circus and theatre by using movement, storytelling, and partner balancing, students learn to overcome physical risk, stretch their imaginations, and cooperate with each other. Cost for the performances and workshops is $4,090.00. Acct. # 20-237-200-320-03-40. q. To approve Broad Street School’s Poppin Popcorn and Pine River Greeting Spring Snacks Fundraiser through Funds for Kids. The fundraiser will be held February 21, 2017 through March 9, 2017. Proceeds from the sale will go into the Student Activity Fund. No cost to the Board. r. To approve Broad Street School Debate Tournament on Saturday, February 11, 2017. The tournament will consist of schools from the Garden State Debate League, which Broad Street School's Debate Team are members. The tournament will begin at 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The Debate Team will be responsible to provide breakfast, lunch and

snack foods for the student debaters and parents throughout the day. There will be approximately 150-175 people in attendance. Classrooms will be used for the teams to compete. Two security staff as well as a custodian will cover the event. The Debate Team is proud to host the tournament and to represent Broad Street School and the Bridgeton School District.

s. To approve The Cat in the Hat visit sponsored by the NJEA. The Cat in the Hat will visit the K-2 students of Buckshutem Road School on February 13, 2017 at 9:00 AM and Cherry Street School at 10:45 AM to promote the importance of reading. There is no cost to the board for this event.

t. To approve the 8th Grade Valentine's Day Dance on February 17, 2017 at Buckshutem School from 6:00-8:00 PM. The dance will be for students in grades 6-8. Students will be charged $5.00 and must turn in a signed permission slip to attend. Snacks will be available for purchase. Students who have had a disciplinary write-up within 30 days of the dance will not be admitted. Students who have Perfect Attendance and/or have made Honor Roll will receive a special incentive. Building staff will chaperone the dance.

u. To approve Career Day at Buckshutem Road School on February 24, 2017 from 9:00- 11:30 AM. Members of the community will speak to students in order for them to gain knowledge about different career opportunities available.

v. To approve Young Audiences Teaching Artist Janeece Freeman to co-teach music lessons about African American Spirituals with music teacher Lisa Rosario at Buckshutem Road School on 2/13/2017 and 3/3/2017 through the FEA / NJPSA Leaders as Scholars Arts Integration Program. Ms. Rosario's students in grades 4, 6 and 7 will participate in the program. w. To approve Young Audiences Teaching Artist Molly Gaston Johnson to co-teach printmaking lessons with art teacher David Smith at Buckshutem Road School on Feb. 21, 2017 through the FEA/NJPSA Leaders as Scholars Arts Integration Program. Mr. Smith’s middle school level classes will participate in the program. x. To approve the Pathways 21st CCLC Summer program to operate during the board approved summer programming hours at Buckshutem Road school. The approved NJDOE grant states that the program must operate for at least 4 hours a day (9:00 AM-1:00 PM), five days a week for twenty days. The program theme for the summer will be music of the decades 60s-90s. y. To approve "A Seustastic Night!" in honor of Read Across America Day the Pathways 21st CCLC program at Buckshutem Road School will work in conjunction with the Community and Parental Involvement Specialist to host the event. Pathways students will prepare a song and dance that tells the story of Green Eggs and Ham. School day teaching staff will present an inspiration song titled "Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!" The CPIS will hold additional activities honoring literacy. The event will be held on March 2, 2017 from 5-7 PM in the Cafeteria. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held on March 9, 2017. Refreshments will be provided.

z. To approve the ShamROCK Dance on March 17, 2017 from 6:30-8:30 PM in the Cherry Street School Cafeteria hosted by Pathways/Cherry Street 21st CCLC programs. Students will be charged $3 each. The $3 provides each student with a slice of pizza, a drink and a photo. Program staff will volunteer their time to chaperone this dance at a ratio of 10 students to every one staff member. There is no cost to the board. aa. To approve Young Audiences Teaching Artist Molly Gaston Johnson to co-teach music lessons about African American Spirituals with music teacher Sharette Pierce at Cherry Street School on 2/13/2017 and 3/3/2017 through the FEA / NJPSA Leaders as Scholars Arts Integration Program. Mrs. Pierce's students in grades 6 and 8 will participate. bb. To approve a PTO All Natural Fruit Snack Fundraiser at Cherry Street School. Parents will use the pre-order sheets to place their order. All orders are distributed to students on Fridays at the end of the day. Funds raised will go toward purchasing school uniforms for students in need, 8th Gr. Step Up décor & refreshments and Holiday Food Baskets for families in need.

cc. To approve Cherry Street School's Math and PARCC Readiness Family Night on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 5:30-7:30 PM. Using District approved Curriculum Standards families of grades 3-8 students will actively participate in understanding Math through the use of centers, Math drills, and take home materials. Light refreshments will be served. Total cost $181.56, Acct.# 20-237-200-600-05-40. dd. To approve a Family and Community Resource Workshop at Cherry Street School on February 28, 2017 (Snow date: March 28) from 10:30 - 11:30 AM. Local agencies will provide families with valuable information and handouts, designed to promote family empowerment. Healthy refreshments for approx. 50 families will be served. To approve the Pathways and Cherry Street 21st CCLC programs to hold a joint Family Job and Volunteer Fair on March 30, 2017 from 6:30-8:30 PM at West 11 Date of Meeting – Public Action Meeting: February 7, 2017 @ 6:00 PM, Bridgeton High School Media Center

Avenue School. (Snow date: May 4, 2017). Vendors will be local businesses and organizations that are seeking employees and/or volunteers. Donations for food and vendor gifts will be solicited as the 21st CCLC grant does not allow purchasing of food for events. There is no cost to the board.

Students will complete their hours in thirteen weeks, working ten hours per week. Students will assist the guidance department with ongoing support for students, attend meetings, and act as resources for child advocacy.

b. To approve Ashley Timmons, applicant for a practicum/field observation to be placed at Indian Avenue School to conduct his Spring 2017 Practicum. Ashley is in Masters of Special Education program with a content area in Middle Level Education 6-8 Mathematics. Semester students will compete 50 hours from February 8 - May 1, 2017. Practicum III students observe and assist the Mentor teacher with classroom routines; possibly working one on one with a student or in small groups. Coordinate early childhood assessment to preschool program. 5. Coordinate parent involvement programs. 6. Provide information on district programs to the family workers, social workers, and preschool program staff. 7. Plan and coordinate transition activities, programs, and services between preschool programs and kindergarten programs. 8. Perform such other duties as assigned by the Principal/Assistant Principal.

Approve the Board of Education’s Monthly Certification of Major Account/Fund Status. We certify that as of January 31, 2017 after review of the secretary’s monthly financial report (appropriations section) and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials that to the best of our knowledge no major account or fund has been over-expended and that sufficient funds are available for the remainder of the fiscal year.

To approve budget transfers through January 31, 2017 for the 2016-2017 school year as attached. Item 5.1.6 a-g *Approval of Grants a. To approve the Agreement of Understanding between Bridgeton High School and the Cumberland County College regarding the College Readiness Now III (CRNIII) and College Credit Now (CCN) grants. The CRN III project will be delivered by Cumberland County College during the spring semester of 2017 at BHS. The instructional model will be an intensive six-hour Brush Up Boot Camp course, offered in both Mathematics and English. Approximately 120 students will be recruited for CRN III for a total of eight Brush Up courses for 15 students each. The CCN grant will consist of a cohort of 15 students composed of CRN III students who achieve college readiness upon testing. encouraged to enroll in a 3 credit, 15 week, general education, dual enrollment college course chosen by BHS. These courses will occur two days per week, from 2:30-4:00 PM at BHS. Upon successful completion, students will receive full, transferable college credit free of charge. There is no cost to the board as all costs associated with my funded by the Cumberland County College. b. To approve the acceptance of the 2016-2017 McKinney Vento Grant which received final approval on December 9, 2016. c. To approve the acceptance of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers revisions approved by the NJDOE on October 26, 2016. d. To approve the submission of the FY2017 Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) amendments to allocate the following carryover funds: Basic: $82,961 ($2205 has been allocated to Nonpublic) Preschool $6307. e. To accept the NJDOE final approval of the Family and Community Engagement grant. Approval granted January 11, 2017. f. To approve the acceptance of the Cumberland Empowerment Zone 21st Century program at Cherry Street School grant in the amount of $58,561 and supplemental IDEA grant in the amount of $8,100. This additional allocation will be used to fund staff working with students with special needs as well as additional programming. g. To approve Bridgeton Christian Academy to purchase security cameras utilizing the NJDOE Nonpublic Security Grant. Cost will not exceed $1,000. h. To accept the final revision of the NJDOE Title I Arts Integration Pilot Program Grant. Final Approval was granted by the NJ Department of Education January 27, 2017.

Item 5.1.9 *Approval of Polling Places To approve the following as polling places; Bank Street Administration Building, Bridgeton High School and Quarter Mile Lane School for the following elections: Primary Election Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 5:00 AM until 8:00 PM General Election Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 5:00 AM until 8:00 PM.

Item 5.1.10 *Approval of Election Worker Hourly Rate

To approve the Election worker hourly rate of $14.29 for 2017 elections.

Item 5.1.11 *Approval of Corrective Action Plan

To approve the Pathways 21st Century Community Learning Centers Corrective Action Plan in reference to the program’s level of service as requested by the NJDOE Office of Supplemental Services. Item 5.1.12 *Approval of Participation in SJ Coalition of Schools To approve the Business Administrator and Superintendent to participate with the South Jersey Coalition of Schools. This coalition consists of school districts from Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, Salem and Gloucester Counties working together to support a fair and equitable funding formula. The group will be represented by Salmon Ventures and the cost will be shared across the districts. Item 6.1.1 *Facility Usage

To approve the request of Bridgeton Seventh Day Adventist Church to use Bridgeton High School Media Center March 31, April 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14 & 15, 7:00-8:00 PM for seminars. Rental fee of $250, Custodial fees of $ 343.60 and Security fees of $564.56 will be charged. An appropriate insurance certificate is on file. Approval is granted contingent on the understanding that school activities take precedence. If a school facility is required for a school activity, board approval is revoked.
