Enzo MOAVERO MILANESI Born 1954, Italian nationality Degree in Law (maxima cum laude) at the University La Sapienza, Rome (Italy), master (Certificate) in EU Law at the College of Europe Bruges (Belgium). Lawyer, specialized in EU Law, Antitrust Law, Commercial and Industrial Law. He is currently dean of the School of Law of the LUISS University in Rome, and professor of EU Law at the same university. Between 2011 and 2014, he was member of two Italian Governments as Minister for European Affairs. From 2006, until 2011, he was president of chamber and judge at the General Court of the European Union (EU Court of Justice).. He worked twenty years in the European Commission in Brussels (Belgium), where he was, inter alia: 2006, director general of the Bureau of the European Policy Advisors (BEPA); 2002/2005, deputy secretary general of the European Commission; 2000/2002, director of ‘Antitrust Services’; 1995/2000, head of the staff ('cabinet') of the Commissioner in charge of 'Single Market', Financial Services, Taxation and of Competition Policy; 1990/1992, head of the staff ('cabinet') of the Vice President responsible for Telecommunication, Information Technologies and Research Policy. In 2014, he was appointed special adviser to the member of the European Commission in charge of EU Internal Market and Financial services. Since 2015, he is special adviser to the First Vice President of the European Commission on the Rule of Law and ‘Better Regulation’. Between 1993 and 1995, he served in Rome, as adviser to the Italian Prime Minister, for Community/EU matters and for the privatization of State-owned companies. He practiced law in an international law firm in Rome, from 1979 to 1983; becoming Attorney (Procuratore legale), after the Italian State exam. He is currently free-lance legal adviser.. He is the author of several scientific publications; notably of three books (on: EU Merger Control rules; EU Competition Law; EU Law and Policies). He is also member of the editorial board of several Law Reviews, as well as member of scientific boards and advisory bodies. .
