HSC ACHIEVEMENTS 2019 KINROSS WOLAROI SCHOOL | 1 FROM THE PRINCIPAL CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 2019 It is my great pleasure to share with you the TOP SCHOOL CENTRAL WEST NSW wonderful achievements of our Kinross Wolaroi students. Kinross Wolaroi School ranked in the top 20% of schools in the State I warmly congratulate the Class of 2019 on their at 140, achieving the top rank for a exemplary HSC results as well as on their substantial school in Central West NSW and the achievements throughout their time at Kinross highest success rate in the region of Wolaroi School. We are exceptionally proud of our 12.33%*. graduates and the fine young adults they have become. The student profiles in this document do not only 99.00 KWS’ highest ATAR in 2019. focus on each student’s final results but on the full range of what was achieved during their school life. It is common to find that our most successful students are those who are most extensively involved in leadership and co-curricular opportunities. 95+ 10 students (7.6%) achieved an ATAR over 95 Our teaching model encompasses preparation for life in all of its complexity. MIC of Rowing Candidate Information Pack Closing Date: 09 October 2020 September 2020 MIC of Rowing - Candidate Information Pack About Kinross Wolaroi School Kinross Wolaroi School is a co-educational Independent School of the Uniting Church. The School has a strong history of excellent academic results along with a diverse co-curricular program. Kinross Wolaroi School is a non-selective school with over 1100 students (including 330 boarders in Years 7 to 12), located in the NSW Central Tablelands in the city of Orange. The School has a proud tradition of educating young people in an environment where ideals are based solidly on friendship, spirituality, the security of family values, hard work and the pursuit of excellence to the very best of one’s ability. The School offers the unique opportunity for co-educational learning with separate boarding sites for boys and girls. Students are provided with a holistic education with a varied curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our students. The School has two main campuses. The main campus, called Wolaroi, is a picturesque campus of 20 hectares and accommodates the main teaching facilities as well as the boarding facilities for boys boarding. A second campus, called PLC, is located approximately five kilometres west of the main campus (on the opposite side of the city of Orange) and houses the girls’ boarding facilities, a number of staff residences, a recreation and examination centre, an outdoor swimming pool and playing fields. All classroom activities (the normal school day activities) for all students enrolled in the Early Childhood Centre and in classes from Kindergarten to Year 12 occur on the Wolaroi Campus. -

In a mere 500 years, a tiny fraction of humanity’s long history, science – and the technological advances that have stemmed from it – has completely transformed every part of our lives. The scale of humanity’s scientific transformation in such a short period is so immense it’s hard to grasp. My grandmother was alive when one of the world’s oldest airlines, Qantas, was born. In her lifetime, flight has become as routine as daily roll call. Disease, famine and the toll of manual labour that once ravaged the world’s population have also been dramatically reduced. Science is at the heart of this progress. Given such incredible advancement, it’s tempting to think that science education must be in pretty good shape. Sadly, it isn’t. We could talk about falling PISA rankings, or declining STEM enrolments. But instead, and perhaps more importantly, let’s consider the world to which our students will graduate. A world of “fake news” and “alternative facts”. -

NSW COMBINED INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS SPORTS COUNCIL POLICY STATEMENT RISK MANAGEMENT 1.0 Preamble Risk management is the culture, processes and structures that are directed towards the effective management of situations that have the capacity to have adverse effects for the NSW Combined Independent Schools Sports Council (CIS). The Risk Management Policy applies to all areas of the CIS’s operation, including routine internal activities and the conduct of selection events for member schools and associations. The sports offered include: • AFL • Athletics • Baseball • Basketball • Cricket • Cross Country • Diving • Football • Golf • Hockey • Netball • Rugby • Rugby League • Softball • Swimming • Tennis • Touch Football • Triathlon • Volleyball, and • Water Polo. 2.0 Policy Combined Independent Schools has implemented a risk management strategy that aims to: • Demonstrate due diligence in planning representative sporting pathways, events and activities for students and staff from its’ member schools. • Promote proactive rather than reactive management with the early identification and treatment of risks by creating a risk aware culture amongst all CIS personnel • Protect the students, staff, volunteers and the CIS Community at CIS events and activities; • Protect the financial position of CIS; • Protect the reputation of CIS; • Meet the expectations of the CIS’s stakeholders – our member schools, eligible associations, sponsors and CIS community • Fulfill the legislative and regulatory responsibilities of CIS.
