Bachelors of Business Administrations) The title of the thesis Pages American football players in Finland: The cultural differences 43 + 33 The goal for this research was to discover and analyze the cultural differences between Finnish and American cultures, more specifically between Finnish and American athletes playing American football in Finland. This was done by interviewing American athletes who have played American football in Finland as professional import players. The interview the writer held was a qualitative open-ended question interview and was conducted to five American athletes who have played American football in Finland. The framework for this thesis is earlier cross-cultural research about Finland and United States. The writer uses the cultural dimension theories by cross-cultural researchers Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars to research about the ways in which the two research groups could be culturally different. Despite Finnish and American culture are perceived quite similar to each other in the theo- retical framework of this thesis, this thesis did find out there is distinctive differences be- tween Finnish and American culture according to the research interviews. The cultural dif- ferences are mostly in the cultural dimensions of power distance, individualism, masculin- ity, specificness and affectiveness of the researched Finnish and American cultures. This thesis explains what each of these cultural dimensions stand for, as well as explaining the theory of cultural dimensions in general. An important background difference between the two research groups is that the game of American football is played very differently in Finland and in United States. -

Trotz der noch jungen Geschichte sind die Tiroler eine der besten Mannschaften in ganz Europa. Insgesamt gewannen die SWARCO RAIDERS Tirol drei Mal die Euro Bowl. Den Austrian Bowl haben sie vier Mal nach Innsbruck geholt. Zudem sicherten sie sich einmal den Titel im EFAF-Cup. Weiterhin sind die SWARCO RAIDERS Tirol der einzige Football-Verein der Welt, der eine offizielle Kooperation mit einem Team der National Football League (NFL) führt. Seit 2008 arbeiten die Tiroler mit den Oakland Raiders zusammen. Zu den Heimspielen der SWARCO RAIDERS Tirol pilgern bis zu 9.000 Zuschauer. Die Nachweisung über die Verteilung der Mittel im Einzelnen gemäß § 11 Abs. 3 des Gesetzes über die Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin und die Stiftung Deutsche Klassen- lotterie Berlin (DKLB-Gesetz) vom 7. Juni 1974 (GVBl. S. 1338), zuletzt geändert durch Gesetz vom 3. Mai 1996 (GVBl. S. 179), ergibt sich aus den Anlagen. Die Stiftung hat insgesamt 23.907.645,00 Euro zur Verfügung gestellt, davon - gemäß § 6 DKLB-Gesetz (Zweckabgabe/Bilanzgewinn): 23.366.725,00 Euro (Anlage 1) - gemäß § 4 Abs. 5 Spielbankengesetz (Anteil an der Zusatzabgabe): 540.920,00 Euro (Anlage 2). INTERNATIONAL NFL INTERNATIONAL FEEL While the NFL continues to grow in popularity across the globe, international players are making an increasing impact on the field. For the 14th time in the past 15 seasons, at least one player who attended high school outside of the United States was selected in the NFL Draft. This year, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected wide receiver CHASE CLAYPOOL (right) in the second round of the NFL Draft. The Canadian wide receiver recorded 150 receptions 2,159 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns during his career at Notre Dame. “When you get drafted to a team like the Steelers, it doesn’t seem real. It’s a super cool thought and idea of me playing for the Steelers,” said Claypool. “Each day it’s going to get more and more real.” In addition, the Dallas Cowboys selected NEVILLE GALLIMORE (below) in the third round of the NFL Draft. The Canadian defensive tackle was credited with 148 tackles, nine sacks, and five forced fumbles during his career at Oklahoma. “It’s one of those things where I didn’t know whether I was going to laugh, cry or scream,” Gallimore said. “It was definitely a surreal moment. It was definitely worth the wait.” This season, seven teams will carry an oversees player on their practice squad during the 2020 season as part of the International Player Pathway program. “The International Player Pathway program is an important part of our ongoing efforts to grow the game globally and provide pathways for international players to make it to the NFL.” -NFL International Chief Operating Officer DAMANI -
