Toronto Pearson Airport YUL had 49.2 million passengers in 2019 YOW TORONTO YYZ A BIT OF HISTORY

 Alignment was first conceived in late 1990’s with first incarnation to be a fully Privately run Service  Originally called Blue22 – the 25km Express Service would join Union Station in downtown Toronto with Pearson International Airport at the new Terminal 1. The “22” referred to the time of travel between downtown and the airport.  9/11, SARS (the first one) and subsequent 2008 banking crises made project difficult to implement as a P3. A BIT OF HISTORY

 Resurgence of the initiative in 2010 when it was part of the PanAM 2015 bid and supported by both Federal and Provincial Governments.  Project taken over by Regional Authority – Metrolinx when SNC- Lavalin gave away building rights.  Complete re-design to be more in line with other dedicated Air-Rail Links like Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur.  Opened June 6, 2015 with lots of controversy over price point. YUL YOW MONTREAL YYZ MONTREAL REM - A BIT OF HISTORY

 Early version included building a spur from the Canadian Pacific Railway line (about 1km south of the terminal), then using railway corridor to connect to Gare Centre ville Centrale, however ownership and operations problems plus the heavy freight use of that line made this difficult to realize.  Aeroport de Montreal included some station infrastructure as part of its new International Terminal Expansion. MONTREAL REM – CURRENT STATUS

• 65 km network • Fully automated metro • Integrated with Metro and Regional Rail  Alignment
