Coaches and/or chaperones will supervise athletes during the daytime activities. Parents and/or coaches will be responsible for supervising athletes off snow. Location: Invermere, BC- Panorama Mountain Resort https://www.panoramaresort.com/ Panorama resort is well known around the world as THE place for local, regional, national and international alpine and freestyle skiers to come together for pre-season, on-snow training. This year Pano is stepping up and to expand the on-snow training opportunity to include Nordic athlete training options: 1. a 1.5km training loop at the base of the mountain; 2. the “Platter” for uphill and downhill technique training; 3. the “Monster” for an unparalleled high alpine experience on groomed trails at the summit; 4. and, if Mother Nature shows up with enough natural snow, the Panorama nordic trails starting at Greywolf Golf Course. www.panoramaresort.com/nordictraining Skiing will occur at the high elevations of Panorama Summit on Saturday. A warming hut and ski patrol will be available at the summit. Participants: The on-snow camp is an overnight winter training camp for Kootenay regional skiers in the L2T and T2T stages of development born 2003 - 2011 (ages 9-16). The goal of the camp is for the skiers to have fun, make new friends, get an early season snow experience with some great tips to prepare them for the coming season. We expect to split participants into two cohorts of less than 50 skiers/cohort. Graham Mclean will be working with these groups specifically. Masters: In addition, an adult Masters ski camp will run parallel to L2T and T2T camp to tune up your skills for the season. Alternate coaches other than Graham Mclean will be assigned to the Masters. The Masters will form a separate cohort from younger skiers. Masters are invited to participate: • skate ski on Saturday at stations following the same format as the youth program • classic ski on Sunday following the same format as the youth program Host Club: Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club Coaching: Graham McLean – Cross Country BC, Ted Bigelow, Darren Tamelin, Cam Gillies, others. Parent/Club Coaches: Please come and participate alongside other coaches. The head coach, Ted, will organize participating coaches for daily activities. See: https://www.panoramaresort.com/planning/covid-19/ High Altitude Venue Be aware that we will be very high with limited support infrastructure so plan accordingly. You will need a ski bag to carry on the lift on Saturday. In the past the coaches and experienced skiers share the bag to help take several pairs of skis. Your backpack must be good enough that you can ski downhill for quite a stretch easily. Masks will be required on the lifts. In the past we used the Summit Hut for a tight fit warm lunch. This year we will have the hut for quick warm-ups but plan to eat lunch outside. Bring good warm up gear that can compact easily (Down is best). Bring your own bag lunches. If the weather looks bad Saturday for the High Alpine adventure, then we may swap the plan and go to the high elevation on Sunday.
